I love the fact Nads gets so much clout but out of most the guys (outside of maybe Scotto) I think Nads is the perfect guy to inquire about these sort of cars. His questions were perfect without going overly technical and his respect for the "black magic" was through the roof always asking if he could see stuff. The guy is a patron Saint, albeit tipsy
Nads is literally the only one who could've conducted this to this level of satisfaction. Thank you Hoonigan. I would've been there like, uhhh, issa pretty...
@@TheHoonigans great vid guys but i have a problem i am owner and driver of dirty south motorsports racing team and for a birthday gift to myself i ordered 70 bucks worth of merch to get the free gold sticker and tag frame and that was 5 days ago and it was shipped out morning after i ordered it so the conformation email i got from u but havnt recived anything yet and site says that i would receive a bday gift too but no go on that too WHAT UP FELLAS !!!! Keep shredding...
@@CraigBrosRacing Unfortunately their store needs to need some work, with my order a couple of months ago they were slow, mixed some sizes, did not send all/or had not updated inventory and did not include any of the promised free stuff. I guess they were empty. But it was Black friday so i can guess there was mayhem so i did not want to bother with it. (got money back for stuff that i did not get, so i do NOT feel swindled :) )
messmeister92 yeah but he was actually fantastic this year in IndyCar. Seems he got an attitude adjustment and I’m happy he’s in the sport at the moment.
Jarred Krasman I didn’t like him at first but the first few times I saw him he was just probably drunk and annoying. I’ve come to respect him though, he’s got a lot of knowledge and does quite well on these.
Nads' blend of excitement, knowledge, and curiosity made this a great watch for me. I've been following F1, but now I want to check out some Indy also.
Same. Love seeing the similarities and the differences between Indy and F1. Im not normally a fan of Nads, but he did a good job in this episode. Made me very curious to check out an Indy race.
Thanks Hoonigan for doing this Build Biology episode on an IndyCar! I am a huge fan of the IndyCar Series and hopefully with this episode it can introduce more new people to check out the IndyCar Series.
I think Nads is the best interviewer because he seems to be more than just a cars fan but more of a student of the car. You know he knows the answers to all the questions but asks them for the viewers benefit.
The whole car is incredibly cool, but isn't Ferucci the guy who crashed into his teamate twice and drove around with his phone in the cockpit in Formula 2? Hopefully he's learned from his F2 endeavours.
Yeah he is. He always was driving the race car while on his phone. Lmao i was like dam why that name sound so familiar and then it hit me. He ruined his formula 2 and formula 1 career by that move smh
Well done! Even though Nads is the grandpa of tuners he is quite adequate for these types of reviews. Good luck Santino and to his team this year. And well done to hoonigan for supporting an awesome sport!
The mechanic calls 'zip ties' 'ty-raps'... I'd bet my next paycheck he used to be an electrician. What a cool vid, the owner of a contractor I used to work for used to work on Indy cars and called NASCAR 'a 200 mph funeral procession'. The level of engineering here is astonishing, well done!
Nads is the best host you all have. He asks great questions, he puts his guests at ease, and he has deep knowledge of the cars that appear on his programs.
Nads legit does some of the best build bio's on this channel. He almost has nearly as much knowledge as some of these other guys so its so sick to see them just go at it.
This is hands down, one of the best episodes I've watched. I've always been curious about maximum performance race cars and the engineering behind them and Nads always gets down and dirty into the skin of them keep it up guys.
Don't apologize for being you nads. As many haters as you got, you got twice as many fans but we're more mature so not as vocal. Keep on keepin' it real.
The terrible towel !!!!🤣 one of my Idles Collin Champman uses a towel in the 70s to conceal the rear diff of the lotus F1 car. Any time the car was in the pit or the garage they would throw the towel over the rear end and diff. While testing the car in a wind tunnel the side pods flexed down toward the floor and they seen a huge increase in down force VIA ground effect. They ended up installing floating side skirts that sealed the under side of the race car to the ground. For over a year know one noticed because every one was so focused on what was under the towel over the rear end🤣 it was a great exercise of camouflage and diss information
Cool tip for ceramic brakes: While you are cruising down the pit lane, sqeeze the brake pedal gently until the discs heat up, and the brakes start to grip. While doing it in low speeds, it takes shorter time to heat the discs, due to lack of air flow. Now you'll have warmer brakes in the first corner. If you just brake hard until they grip, you wear the assembly prematurely and unevenly.
Whenever I hear a breakdown of Indy or F1 cars and they can quote downforce numbers north of 5,000lbs I just sit and stare in awe. It’s just fuckin’ cool.
So into how this man explains the car. Perfect discourse. Great questions. Interviewer knowledge/inquiries on point. Great BB. Always happy when I don't see Vin in a video. ❤❤
Straight serious business here! Technology secrets for the slightest edge. I can respect the passion and no games demeanor these guys have. Millions of $$ are on the line.
Definitely one of the more intelligent episodes from Hoonigan. My mind is always blown by the level of technical finery in some of these top level cars like this.
see, I LOVED the 2003-2011 era indycars.... so simple but gorgeous at the same time.... the 2012 to 2016 car was just.... uuhhhhgghh... but this redesign is fucking awesome! I love sidepods and the rear wing! Aesthetically speaking, i wish the rear wing on the speedway configuration had the similar style as the road coarse/street wing
Its so awesome you guys picked up a indy car and a monster truck in the past year at my count. U guys are really maken marketing moves props to Hoonigan n Scotto!
@@TheHoonigans While you're at it have people to talk to people to talk to people about getting GTD, GTLM, or DPi cars from IMSA lol. Lots of manufacturers and cool cars in that series.
Hoonigan what is your relationship going to be with the team? Are you going to help the team in anyway or did you just want to sticker bomb the car 😂 (P.s I’ve never seen such an in-depth video on an IndyCar, I learned quite a lot about the cars innovative tech and as someone doing an automotive engineering course it can only help me so thanks for the hard work guys, even if it doesn’t seem like work to you guys your teaching people with everything you do)
Pretty amazing that you guys are able to look at how this car works. In Formula One everything is a secret about how they make there car run to the peak of what the car can.
Well that was a way better explanation than we got from Danicka Patrick. I was really curious about those clutch pedals, I ASSUMED they wouldn't use them during racing but I wasn't completely sure
I will start with, I personally have no knowledge of Indy cars or the racing leagues associated, but you would think with a spec series all of the components would have to be the same aside from the blocks. Why cover the turbos at all?
@@chrisparker6517 I would imagine Honda has some proprietary designs related to the turbos, exhaust, manifolds, etc that they don't want the teams running the chevy engines to see
For anyone unaware. While he's certainly talented, this kid is the son of a convicted mob boss. He and his father racially abused his teammate in Formula 2, then Santino intentionally crashed into said teammate after being fairly beaten, and texted from the car while driving through the pitlane afterwards. He and his father also tried to run a MAGA slogan on the F2 car and refused to back down until the FIA stepped in. He's paying for this seat and all the ones before it. After a decade of watching Indy and F1, I've never rooted against a driver until now.
See I like nads. He knows his shit, been in the industry probably from the day it started, he asks all the right questions, and his name perfectly matches his sense of humor. Nads hang out with and teach me about tuner cars!
Santino will never escape what happened in f2, but besides that I’m new to Indycar long time F1 fan but with how boring the racing has become it’s just a Mercedes 1-2 always. Indycar is very exciting and I like how they use a lot of spec parts to level the competition, thank you for this break down.
Best interviewer for build breakdowns, ever. Nads knows his shit and you can tell even the Crew Manager was a little impressed with how much he knew. Moar Nads on BB videos please
