Great lesson, Tomlin! I've been on a country kick for about a week, so this is a nice coincidence for me. I went to a jam session a week ago, and a mandolin and a banjo player showed up, and it was a blast.
Hello Tomlin - I have already been practicing the Jason Ricci lick; I recall watching his video. I have been wondering how to develop it into a tune; obviously, you've done it for me. The tune itself sounds fantastic ( you've done a great job with it ) and once I've finished the tune I'm currently working on; I shall be learning your version of this lick, with all of the embellishments. However; I'm very curious over what you said at the end of the tutorial. You said it took you about a month to get it right - surely that isn't correct? I was thinking more of an active afternoon to ' nail it. ' But a month? I would have thought, that professionals like yourself and Liam and Adam etc, would be able to adapt to these licks within the day; if not a weekend. Were you being serious about that bit Tomlin? I must admit - and it's a wonderful insight - I never considered that a player of your quality, would take that length of time to get it right; or did you just say it for our benefit? I have always wondered about the time it takes players of your level of expertise, to get a tune right. I suspect though; you were just trying to tell us that it won't be easy and expect a month's worth of training and practice to get it right. None-the-less - it was/is a fantastic sounding variation. Thanks for the upload mate.
+Darren Batty hi Darren - glad you liked it :-). I definitely took at least a month with this one lick. I'm pretty slow... some things I pick up quickly but this was a monster for me
