For the love of all things wargaming, the intro/ prologue alone is better than 90% of battle reports out there! I won't nit pick anything. This is pure bliss. Love your content. Bravo.
This should be the template more Battletech videos take. I don’t need to know what every roll was, I don’t need to see players discussing tactics, I want to see a story unfold and boy does this channel deliver.
Great video! Honestly considering that they were just trying to escape, the loss of 6 vehicles and a barely usable Rifleman to take out a Marauder and severely damage a Madcat and a Centurion is a good trade.
That's what the House Korbyn players thought too... Especially, when that region doesn't have the logistics to efficiently repair the damaged Mad Cat and Centurion.
First off, F in the chat for the 2nd Armored Company. Let's hope House Korbyn makes their sacrifice worthwhile. That said, another great battle report, and neat work on the improvised chase! Looking forward to seeing how the big battle brewing up north plays out!
Great batrep as usual, and more creativity with the impromptu chase follow-up! Looking forward to the Big Scrap over at or near Mortarborne. I predict that battle will determine the outcome of the war.
Think it was a win overall for both sides as one sides preserved forces that while they will need repairs can be fixed up while for the attackers they removed more enemies pieces from the board. Which until they get repaired and put back in is a win. Love the escape at the end was likely a nail biter at the end with each dice set being a big roll overall. Poor 2nd armor…a worthy sacrifice considering the mechs that got away cause of it.
Hopefully House Korbyn and get some of their troops promoted after all these battles and start to close the skill gap between the House and League forces.
Discovering this series pushed me to finally get into Battletech/Alpha Strike. These are a blast to watch and remind me of playing old PC games like close combat and panzer general with the in-depth strategic turns. It makes me really want to play in a campaign!
22:56 Shouldn't the Bushwacker have died from this? CASE means you don't instantly die from ammo crits, but do take 1 extra damage which would have finished it off. It's CASE II or ENE that totally ignore the ammo crit.
Yes! You're right! Oops... oh, such a sad end to the guy who dodged all the attacks and died right there at the end. Should I break the news to the player, or do you want to tell him? lol
@@WargamerStories I think the narrative is better to just move on with the mistake as is. He has already been declared as "alive". Allows for a revenge story now.
I think the pilot should live, but the mech was shaken up in the escape from the battle, rendering it out of action, but can be repaired and deployed whenever phase 3 reinforcements arrive
Fantastic report once again, always cool to see the new content in this campaign. I was anticipating (hoping for?) a surprise "Oh Hi!" moment of a dropship turret blasting at the League forces.
We try to limit the dropship shooting because we had a bad experience where the dropship was used as a "weapons platform" instead of the designed intended use ("get to the chopper!"). Therefore, on dropship's first turn of arrival, we don't let it fire (a house rule).
Epic batrep! ...a little question though; "Wasn't it CASE II what negated ALL damage while CASE (I) only prevents ammo destruction from happening by only adding one extra damage?" 🤔 ...or did you just read CASE (I) rules as literal as it was written (thus ignoring that extra damage)...? 😅
Nope, we got it wrong in the heat of the battle... so the mech should have been blown to bits, but survived (It's a miracle!) So, we now call that bushwhacker "The Lucky Ghost".
Another excellent video! I can only imagine how much effort went into recording and note taking during the matches (to say nothing of the post production work)!
I am glad you're enjoying the campaign! More episodes for this campaign are in the making. We are also about to start up another BattleTech campaign that the Patreon members had some say on how it will be fought. So stay tuned! The summer has slowed us down, but we are about to get back into full swing again.
It might have been a better move to have the lighter mechs go first, that way they might have saved some of the armor, but as some have basically said already, could have been worse. Can't wait for the next one! And keep up the great work!
Heat of the moment decision-making. That's what make campaign games more fun to play... every decision carries weight and potentially long-term repercussions.
@WargamerStories Very true. And the way you have things set up, only adds pressure to the situation, thus, making it harder to think properly. Loving that. Brings some realistic aspects to the game. Keep up the great work!
Keep the Alpha strike battle reports coming. I love them! Have you considered using the optional rule for shooting? Rather than 1 roll for X damage…. Make 1 roll for each point of damage? IMO this is a much more fun and representative way the play Alpha Strike which varies damage of each unit….rather than all or nothing on 1 roll.
I get miniature trees 6mm to 10mm scale. I then make the bases for them using mdf boards, coffee grinds, dirt, fake grass and tea leaves. I am glad you like them!
Awesome as always! I wanted to ask are the profile pictures AI made? They definitely look it and imo they feel a bit soulless and cheap. I think the dream for this series would be for you guys to make enough money down the line to replace the AI stuff with commissioned art, it'd look so much cooler having actual dramatic mugshots of the characters and stuff!
Yeah, that would be nice! Hopefully... one day. Until then, we sort of lean into the "cheesy, slap-stick" humor for our battle intros. We take the game seriously, but not so serious that we can't laugh or make fun of ourselves. :) But yep, it would be cool to have some nice artwork for the characters. I can see it now: Baron Korbyn looking stoic and heroic as he looks off in the completely wrong direction of the battlefield.
Any chance on maybe doing some short videos on all the Alpha Strike Scenario? I have no clue how they work or how their scored. They would be great in between fillers.
It uses our own rules but follows the rough guidelines for war chest expenditure for Chaos Campaigns. Here is a video explaining how we set up our campaign and how the rules work: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SXz14RWhYzM.html
Etsy.com is where I get most of my terrain. There are several different vendors who various licenses to 3D print and ship terrain for customers. Search for 6mm scale (or epic scale) terrain. But for that particular dropship, search for "Borealis Class Dropship".
I was rooting for the Chupathingys through most of the campaign until the House decided to flee. I dunno, I guess I like underdogs. You've inspired me to run my own smaller campaign at home. Three forces over a much smaller territory.
