That lagoon may not have a problem now, but I think it is only a matter of time. If the issue was mistakes during the build process, where some were not built correctly, having issues, that would be one thing. But boats just like it are fine, and at some point, they break. Until they break, they look fine.
Nice to see prices from more remote locations. You should do a video like this at all your stops. Also, add some country specific info like taxes/VAT etc. Great video!
@@BarefootTravels Awesome give him my Regards...I am Christian and also Austrian and a Chef we know each other from Australia ...I am watching your videos from Malaysia Penang were my current home is...
Good idea. Would love to have seen a little more of each boat ... a little slower. I am not so swift. Might email you on a similar matter for your comment.
Just stumbled upon your video, the first one where you were filming and monitoring the rescue of the sailing boat. I think you two are awesome couple and love your contents, very interesting indeed. Subscribed and liked 👍. And hope to catch up on your previous videos. ✌❤🍀☘
Hi guys, if Im not mistaken that is the cat that was in San Juan marina some time ago, the previos owner is a musician and I did help him out in some of the issue of the cat, If that the boat please tell me if you put the boat together. Like the way you are showing other peoples boat for sale, keep doing it, great job.
Hey Yes we bought it when it was at San Juan Bay marina. We just recently splashed after a long 10 months on the hard. Lots of damage above and below the water line. Interesting to know what you helped with. It is a great boat just needed a lot of tlc
@@BarefootTravels Hi, yes it was a couple of bend parts, like one of the dinghy Davis, bended rails and pull out the steering wheel that was frozen. that was all, other than taking the guy to some hardware store. have a good one
very nice video, did not know so many boats were for sale down there. I'm sure you will get contacted about some of those you showed us. Great to see you guys as always, and wondering when you are going to put a mast on your boat?
Hi from the UK. Would love to live the dream and sail, especially being ex RN but the wife isn't keen 😢😢 Maybe one day but time is getting short as I'm in my 60's already. Great videos guys keep em coming.
The boatyard in Luperon isn’t functioning at the moment but there is ocean world marina 8nm away from the bay. The marina in Luperon is called Puerto Blanco marina and hotel
I seen none of these boats other than the lagoon listed anywhere else on the internet. Any idea why they wouldnt list them on some of the more popular sites? With that many boats for sale in relatively remote place, how do they expect to sell them? It kinda makes me think that when looking for my next boat I need to go to some of these locations and look, but what a mission that would be!
Honestly and to not be extremely disrespectful......almost every boat you showed minus one or two are so overpriced for the market. Like I said no disrespect but here in the states thise boats are all selling for way less than the owners are asking. Regardless I am glad to see you all back on the water and getting closer to sailing away to your next destination.
I'm curious as to why the owners of these boats don't sail them to the USA where there would be much more interest and the boats would command higher prices.
For some they want to live on land here or have upgraded to another boat that is already here. The possibility of delivering them to the USA is always an option too
'Checked out by a Lagoon rep" Oh well that would put my mind at ease. The bulkheads and the workmanship on those cats is appalling, I can't believe they passed the survey. They didn't even tab the fillets with glass to the bulkheads or anywhere else. Just a huge splodge of glue with no glass, in which world is that acceptable? The only way you'd buy one is if it was dirt cheap and you're prepared to sort the mess out. A thousand 45's were built, so far over 200 have bulkhead problems. I'd guarantee most haven't even been checked, especially charter industry boats
@Barefoot Travels Are your business friends foreigners? I understand you. Foreigners who live in the DR should be careful of what they say. I have seen authorities deporting and confiscating foreigner's houses and property with made up trumped-up charges. The DR is a very nationalist country and big brother rules. The corruption is bad. Just to get in to port, some authorities want money for doing their services. Truly, I am afraid of the police and their corrupt ways. Regarding yachting, the DR is expensive. Marine world have some water problems, but the place is safe for the well-to-do crowd. However, for the price, I rather keep my boat in Florida. Sadly, there are only 4 marinas in the DR for foreigners. Puerto plata, Samana,Punta cana and Santo Domingo. ALL are expensive for American standards. Sadly, all the mentioned marinas are often empty, but that did not stop them from raising their prices? Terrible service, water, Wi-Fi, power. Why in the world would anyone will stay? Dominican Republic is a natural beautiful place. But there are so many other choices in the Caribbean. The issue with the DR is their racist views to others. I am white Latino and speak German. In most occasions, the locals are not aware of my Castellano fluency. I have with my own ears heard their hate for me and my companions. Also, It is so sad to hear how they treat the Haitians. Breaks my heart. To me, both the Dominicans and Haitians are very much the same? The last straw was when they started building the wall. The DR government are using the Haitians as their escape goat of the country's social economic problems. History is repeating itself? I wonder if the same government will prevent Dominicans from illegally migrating to other countries such as the US, Canada,Mexico, and the Puerto Rican territories? What a hypocrite government and people. For me, this is reason alone to boycott a country from my US dollars. As long as you are white, the locals will love you when they around you. Thirty years of visiting the DR and hardly nothing changes. But what is most visible is the rich getting richer and the poor getting worst.
No our friends are a mixture of locals and foreigners. The locals we choose to hang around with are awesome people. Again there is good and bad in every place you go. You can choose to see the positive side or the negative.
Cheers! My friend has reached out to you on Instagram with no luck so far. He will be in Luperon tomorrow and day after and would like to meet to get more info on 'Jesica' and 'Arun'. Thank you!
Luperon is a terrible place. Locals will steal from you at any chance they get. The people in charge of keeping things secure are also in it. It happened to me and has happened to many people I know, do not trust that place. Good it and read it for your self. YOU WILL GET Your VALUABLE STOLEN. Also, Puerto Plata's marine world is a terrible place to get your boat repair. They will not stand to guarantee the work. Good luck on filing a complaint about the terrible quality. NOBODY CARES AT THAT LOCATION. This is the Dominican way. Take advantage of the Gringo IS THE WAY OF LIFE. If you lived there like I have, you know is true. Most of the employees are not very skilled and do not care for the work because they get peanuts for salary. That is why they skilled workers move on to something else. I have been there and have seen their work. Marine world looks ok from the outside. However, it is run TERRIBLY. I work on my boat and have come to understand how some boatyards work. They are a business to make money. In the DR, there are no rules. They know, that most likely will not return due to the way the system work there. Guatemala rio dulce is a much better and CHEAPER location to keep your boat during the hurricane season. The labor quality is significantly better in the numerous locations in that site.
Forgot to mention. If you get your boat survey, where would you file a lawsuit or get some money back due to unprofessional survey. Like most Latin America, you are on your own when you buy a boat in that section of the world. I am fluent in Spanish, and locals still try to defraud me at every chance they get. As a Latino, sad but true.
There are good and bad things about every place you go. We choose to see the positive side. Have we been screwed over here? Check out some of our previous videos. However we have some AMAZING friends who are business owners here and the place grows on you.
