Oh my goodness SO helpful!! I just started using liquid after 15+ of pencil. Still lots to learn! Since I am not super-steady when it comes to eyeliner... what kind of brush do you think is best for setting? I never set my liner. :-x the most I do, if anything, is a full-face setting powder.
Being a male, I've never had experience with makeup in general, so now that I'm doing makeup for cosplays, I'm way out of my league and these common mistakes are a big help. Thank you!
@Andrew don’t be stuck in fucking 2003 girls prefer guys who are more confident in there masculinity and who don’t look like a fucking scene kid, grow the fuck up. and quick question, why were u watching a makeup video? pretty sure your just projecting ur own insecurities on to someone else. next time, u little shit, don’t be so insecure, it’s pretty fucking obvious.
same! I don't even have to use mascara if I want to make my lower eyelashes pop out more, because if I did any eyeliner under my eye, it just does that for me haha-
+Dobul Rainbowl There are thousands of videos on contouring but people don't stress on concealers much. How is it that you used the concealer to conceal spots, blemishes, pimple etc and blended them out but in the end everything else is flawless and what you wanted to conceal is still visible? Nobody talks in depth about concealer!
I have the same problem.. going to try the tape thing though and see if it works:) i've seen videos where they apply tape in both directions so you just add in the wing, if that makes any sense
Raabia Abdul Kader have you tried an eyeliner pencil with a smudge applicator on the end? It helps even out the eyeliner and you can always clean up a bit more with a qtip. They have the make up qtips now with the pointy ends specifically for make up.
Ada Wong have you tried an eyeliner pencil with a smudge applicator on the end? It helps even out the eyeliner and you can always clean up a bit more with a qtip. They have the make up qtips now with the pointy ends specifically for make up.
I was gonna say this video is literally just the look this girl prefers and has nothing to do with the right or wrong way to do makeup. In fact, right or wrong doesnt exist outside of subjectivity
@@cheyennevernie4 yes, but to achieve a wing like that, there are right and wrongs. it’s about the look you want, not that this is the correct way to do eyeliner in general.
wait for it to set to your body temp then apply light powder with a brush not pad -- too much powder is what often makes makeup cake esp if its applied to unsettled foundation. also, find out what skin type you are. oily skin has this problem more so it could be youre using the wrong kind of foundation against it.
+Emily Vargas use a loot of moisturizer and ket it absorbe dont apply foundation right away. and use think layers and dont use foundation under the eyes where you will use concealer. and dont use powder foundation on top of foundation and concealer
You have such a natural, "sharing a pot of tea with me at my kitchen table" manner in front of the camera! I would like to see hints for the more mature members of your audience. I am 60 years old, and my ash brown hair is beginning to get streaks of silver. Rather than color it, I will embrace the shades that God has planned for me. I am a "Winter," and my hair will be snowy white one day. I wear minimal eyeliner (taupe or gray on the top, with barely a hint of gray on the outer third of the bottom lashes), however, the wrinkles on my eyelids make it a bit of a challenge. Tight lining would be an option, but allergies and itchy, dry eyes make that a poor choice. I find that if I lift up just a bit on the upper lid, I can draw a straight line right next to my eyelashes. Any tips you can offer to help the over 50 crowd to look beautiful (and not phony), would be much appreciated. That was a great video for the younger crowd, just don't forget the rest of your viewers. Thank you!
Lacemaker427, OH that's do awesome that you still put so much effort into your makeup! my grandma id sixty and she looks like a clown lol! (I love her but the truth is the truth, OK?)
Lacemaker427, OH OH I know the perfect channel you'd like! It's funny because I just found her and started saving a ton of her RU-vid videos on my playlists so I could later refer to them to help my mom with makeup and skincare. If you're interested, her channel is all about mature skincare and makeup, and all the proper techniques for such thing. Her name is Brianna Stanko if you'd rather search her, if not: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-koBUUoApij0.html
Strangely, I absolutely love when my eyeliner makes my eyes look small. It defines my natural almond shape, and the wings always lengthen it. I just love the look of smaller eyes on me.
I understand that! I like having hooded eyes for the most part (Except with smudging makeup) and some days I do want to emphasize it and other times I don't
If I didn't have to focus on making my eyeshadow look flawless without the extra work I wouldn't mind. I still don't mind. But I just adore the closed eye sort of style.
You've really given me a lot of great tips..I'm 39 years old and Yes I've just now started to LOVE and want to wear eyeliner..I'm a makeup crazed freak but since I've got really hooded eyes I've always strayed away from liners...I recently started playing around with light colored liners and now would like to try a small wing and you've given me hope that I can make it look amazing...Thanks so much you're so sweet...You're absolutely BEAUTIFUL as well..lots of love from Ohio,USA xoxo
you say stretching skin while applying eyeliner will cause wrinkles but youre okay with tape? wouldn't putting and removing tape repeatedly do the same?
as you can see that is a white tape there its not very hard to remove those because it not very sticky, they use those on architechture class to prevent the sketchpad moving for the reason it does not rip of the sketch pad
Mascara/lashes do's and don't's please! I have really big lashes so when I wear makeup with no mascara I feel awkward and then when I apply mascara my lashes look like spider legs. I brush them with a clean sppoly (idk the spelling) it does get rid of the clumps but I still can't look natural.
You could try to use brown mascara it looks a little more natural. Also try to apply only one coat and you can add a little extra in the base of the lashe's. (Not the tips cause that can make it look like spider legs)
take the end of a clean makeup brush and gently tap your eyelids for 10 minutes a day. feel for which spots make you twitch the most, and explore a bit. start away from the lash line and work your way in, after a while, mimic the actions of putting on various makeup with it. you will get used to it after a while. my mom made me do this when i wouldn't stop twitching. it made teaching me a lot easier.
you're so personable, tina! just about the only beauty youtuber i can watch on a long-term basis and actually watch entire videos of without skipping ahead to the "actual" parts.
BUT IF I CURL MY LASHES FIRST, I FRICK IT UP BC I HAVE LIQUID LINER AND IT DRIPS ALL OVER MY LASHES😭😭😭😭 HOW DO I AVOID THIS?? IM A NOOB AT MAKE UP, AND MY MOTHER KNOWS NO USEFUL MAKEUP TECHNIQUES. SOMEONE PLS HELP
You can curl after applying liner, just keep a makeup remover towelette and wipe your lash curler before curling your lashes. make sure it's dried before using. It won't mess up your liner because it's clean. Dirty curlers with old dried mascara is what grabs the liner off your lids because it's sticky.
^v^ Keep the faith, Lucy. I'm a 47 years old "elder goth" & navigating hooded eyes with middle age. I still look better with black liners & shadows during the day then the neutral natural look. Some of this advice is very good though - I'm just going to continue to wear my best look ("an evening" look) day or night. ^v^
I wouldn't recommend looking like a zombie, but you can always pull off a nice easy smoky eye that's in between light shadows and total goth. Maybe start with a light grey or brown shadow and put it in your outer corner. As you go about your business each week or month, slowly increase the amount and darkness of shadow and maybe your dad won't notice the makeup at all. Or maybe you're not really 'old enough' to pull off dramatic looks just yet, and your dad is absolutely right.
gaamatsu4dewin I am fifteen, but my dad has a very conservative view on what is inappropriate. Even my mom says so. on the other hand you are right, they do deserve my respect. And I found out I can wear more eyeliner than I thought, so
I have learned to hold a brush with my left hand, in a way that I was 'imitating' moves from my right hand. But in the first several attempts, you'll just have to face it that it will be a disaster :D
This is a great video!!! Most of the videos I've seen show the "DO" as putting on more make up and I'm like really?!!? >.> and the "Don't" as less makeup lmfao
I have the most disaster technique to apply eyeliner since my lashes are way too longer i hold them pull them downward and apply liner I am afraid that someday i might end up plucking them all off But i have no other option
Joyce Tolentino - little wing will look better, go from the corner of ur eye, up a little not to harsh and then connect it to you lid And then line upper lash
My eyelashes are really long and curled so it's really hard for me to put eyeliner on my eyelid. I kinda just gave up and stopped wearing eyeliner all together. Any tips?
kit kat you can try curling your eyelashes with a eyelash curler upside down if that makes sense, so basically your straightening them out, then afterwards you can always just re curl them
you can softly hold down your lashes with your finger. Just make sure to only use light pressure, so that if you inadvertently blink, you don't pull out any lashes. Alternatively, just put liner on your upper waterline (under your lashes, instead of on top). This will define your eyes and make your lashes look thicker.
You don't have to use eyeliner ... instead,, -and IMO- I think using products like kolossal kajal will work better ... 'nd for edges you could use eyeliner
The first tip. I’m emo, okay. I wear eyeliner like that on a day to day basis. My eyes are quite big so when I do this it makes my eyes look the same size but it emphasises them. I also have quite deep green eyes and this makes the colour darker and I like this look. Whenever I wear eyeliner like this, I get compliments off everyone I see. Correct me if I’m wrong but eyeliner like this does not close your eyes, it just emphasises them.
I agree with you! I wear my eyeliner like that all the time, and I have green eyes too. I definitely feel like it accentuates them. I don't think it's quote "too much" like she said. I love that look!
I get this video and I know that it's meant to be helpful, and I think in a lot of ways it is. But I think that what makeup comes down to is personal preference. If you like the way eyeliner looks on just the lower lash line, or you like only using black eyeliner then I say do it. Makeup is about expressing yourself, and making yourself look bomb af. So in the end ladies, you do you and if you do something that is considered a "don't", brush it off bc as long as you think you LOOK BOMB, no one else's opinion matters.
Strangely enough, when I did my eyeliner this morning and curled my eyelashes after the liner, the liner didn't come off. I think it all depends on the liner you're using.
Can you do a tutorial on the eye makeup you have on in this introduction and the commentary? It looks more natural and subtle than the smoky eye tutorials you have, I love it for an everyday look!
L. Richards I been using this technique for 15 years....invest in a lot of q-tips, go in and do the winged eyeliner like you always do and use the q-tips to fix any imperfections there are. I go through about 10-15 q-tips every time I do it
what if your cheap eyeliner pen is streaky and not very pigmented? is there a way to fix/ work around it or do i simply just need to invest in a more expensive, better pen?
do you have decently pigmented matching eyeshadow? you can use the eyeliner as a guideline and the shadow with a small angled brush to fill in and add pigmentation.
+ulla elfadil At the end of the day, everybody can do whatever they like with makeup. These were just some guidelines for everyday makeup IF you want it to look softer/"natural".
Ha. I wish! My eyelashes are WAY too long and t h i c c I can't put makeup on without smearing it ALL OVER! edit: i commented this when i was 11 ew it sounds like such a humble brag umm 😹
I found that wearing black eyeliner on the bottom waterline everyday made my eyes water a lot and irritated my eyes. Obviously I stopped doing that. What are some of your best advice for wearing eyeliner regularly?
You have such a beautiful smile. Beautiful straight white teeth. Just simply beautiful. I'm definitely subscribing! I used to wear make up everyday as a teenager. Then as I got older I stopped wearing make up and I'm really not sure why. Now as I'm getting older ( early 30's) I want to start looking younger and I want to add some colour in my life. So thank you for your videos....
PRO TIP for anyone who struggles getting their eyeliner even: draw a line on each eye where the bottom of the wing will be. Make sure they are even and it's okay if they're not because it will be much easier to remove. Once you're happy with the lines you can confidently draw the top of the wing on and fill it in which will leave you with (hopefully) even liner :D
Love your videos, and accent! I have the problem of liner smudging under my eyes and then I look like a raccoon. I’ve set the liner with powder but it still smudges. I use primer, setting spray, etc. the only product that’s ever worked for me was benefit she-laq. But it’s been discontinued for awhile. Any other tips or suggestions?
