Eh, none of this number looks that technically difficult if you watch their feet closely. A lot of it is just hop shuffle hop step. However, making it look that good? That might be a different story! (He says, glancing over at his poor, neglected tap shoes that haven't seen a dance floor in at least a year.)
So this actually dates back to the days of courting. When giving gifts to someone you fancied was common. Birds were (although unusual today) were fairly common because they were intended to save the family some money/effort and were intended to be used for dinner. You could so keep them as pets or on your farm. A spread of gifts like this would last the family all year (litterally there is 364 gifts in total) and be a great asset. Thus impressing the young ladys fathers. And proving the boy could provide for his lady to be. I hope this helped explain the poor boys obsessed. He just wanted to make a good impression and birds were the way to go.
Dance isn't normally something I go for but went to the Christmas spectacular this week as a legendary bit of NYC festive tradition and was amazed. But of all the sequences, it was the 12 days of Christmas that impressed me most. Everyone is doing something different and it must have been a nightmare to choreograph.
I'd never even HEARD of the Rockettes until the NYT complained about them recently! I love it when newspapers complain about amazing people - they draw so much attention to them! These women are AMAZING! I mean, wow!!! :D
It’s extremely competitive to become a Rockette, and you have try out every year. The best dancers are picked every year, I don’t think it has anything to do with skin color.
CoCoTower and second of y’all! Shut up no one asked you to comment on how some feels about being represented in an NATIONAL DANCE ORGANIZATION. Maybe you don’t mind barely having any people of color on the stage but MOST others do! You AREN’T the person who decides how a person should feel about the lack of diversity! Especially in 2018
It sounds like the music when the “Ten lords-a-leaping” section is introduced might be quoting from another classical piece - can anyone tell me what? Maybe another ballet or an opera?
Comparing Rockettes dancers to ballet dancers at Lincoln Center, Rockettes can be taller and more filled out. Ballet dancers must be very thin and also comparatively short - no more than 5'6 and I think that's the minimum for Rockettes. One reason is the Rockettes are never lifted as ballet dancers are. The men have to be able to lift the ballet girls. And it's a different genre, jazz/tap as opposed to ballet, and ballet requires a different physique to picture swans, wraiths, etc. Rockettes are real women and look it.
Those asking about 9+. 9. There are 9 couples dancing 10. Three rows of ten 11. No pattern, only seen when they play the flute. 12. No pattern, only seen when playing drums.
Highly doubt it. Even pop star SINGERS don't actually sing live these days when they come on stage and dance. The vocals also sound like professional singers, and these women are professional dancers. And they would have to have hidden microphones.
is it just me or are the rockette girl image becoming rather manly looking the word im looking for starts with B just cant spell it right but the fact that they start to look so muscled is off putting to me and given that rockettes are meant to come of a sweet and darling like the B word effect is destorying and chance of that happening
Santa Sexually Assaulted me when I was 16 Appearances can be deceiving. You don’t know me, but I've been having issues with what's happened in the past with a man named John Paul Almon(Santa in the Rockettes Xmas Review). Even though this is something that happened years ago. It had a profound effect on my life. Just thought I’d tell you about my #metoo experience that happened when I was going to Thomas Jefferson High School In the spring of 1980 after a McGregors Beggars Singing show. I was sexually assaulted by John Paul Almon. I gave him a ride home after the show since he lived close to me. He asked me if I wanted to come in and watch tv and have a soda. I was just 16 and didn’t want to go home right away. It was weird experience. I didn’t know if there was anyone else home so we went into his family room and started watching TV. I thought I’d take off after 15 min or so since I lived a few blocks away. I was just sitting in a chair and he was laying in the pull out couch or something while we watched TV. I was so tired I closed my eyes for what seemed like a couple min and awoke to him naked and maturbating in front of me with him putting his hand on my genitals over my Levi’s. I was frozen for what seemed like eternity then stood up and ran to the door. It was dark in the foyer and he said I’ll get the door and he went for my crotch again. I didn’t go to school for a week after. I was young and didn’t know what to do. Tell my Mother? Tell Mr. MacGregor? What good would that have done. I felt shame and disgust towards him. Why would this person that I thought was my friend do this to me? I was very naive and stayed away from alcohol and drugs. It really screwed my early years up with depression, relationships, friendships and my attitude towards everything. I was very depressed and buried it for years till recently. Some look at him as being this incredible talent, but he ruined my early years at TJ. I never did go to any of the MacGregor Beggar reunions because I never wanted to see him. In my eyes he became a weirdo perve that stilted my early life as a young, naive kid. I hear he plays Santa every year for the Rockettes Christmas Review. In my eyes he is definitely someone that should stay away from kids. The Rockettes should dismiss the pervert Santa. Truth. Kelly Ray Rasmussen #metoo
Kelly all I can say is you should not have given him a ride home..... gone in his house. Basically this was a stranger. You should have kicked that bastard in the nuts and run to your car. JHC a naked man jacking off in front you you? Damn girl..... naive or not..... you should never have gone in his house. You should have told your parents or anyone about this. Don't play the victim.
