@Iggsie your idea of based on a true story is worse than Hollywood's. The subjects in the song existed and the kidnapping happened. Nothing else is real
wait and bleed is literally about a guy who slits his wrists and then regrets it but can’t do anything about it and just waits until he bleeds to death
@@dansatan1242 from what I remember it is about the media. The most harrowing song of theirs is probably Polly, if I recall correctly it's about a girl who was kidnapped and tortured.
"Daddy" by KoRn would have been a good addition. the lead singer of KoRn broke down crying in the middle of the song, but kept on singing anyway, and they kept it as the main track. also, any cannibal corpse or marilyn manson song is game here, for obvious reasons.
I mean, Weisses Flesch is pretty much about a boy who goes to school and kills everyone before offing himself off, also the only Rammstein songs I heard that were harmless were "Amerika" (which is pretty much a satirical song about Americanization) and "Sonne" (which is pretty much is an entrance song written for Ukrainian boxer Vitali Klitschko). But the rest are pretty questionable on lyrical content
I love how Nine Inch Nails was only there because it was graphically describing a sex scene while literally everything else was about rape or suicide or other stuff like that.
Llama Queen They should have picked the song La Mer by NIN. That was actually written when Trent was about to suicide. Or the Great Below, as a reflection to what he was going through at that point.
Some people do, but that’s the exact reason that they’re not mainstream is because it’s real and makes you feel something whereas mainstream pop crap dulls everything down and numbs emotions
in an interview in late 93 he explained that he wrote thise lyrics just to be as obvious as he can be in his lyric writing. in that interview he said that some people think its about the media or record labels and he said outright that it has nothing to do with it.
Honorable mentions: Angel of Death by Slayer Adams song by Blink182 Scissors by Slipknot Daddy by Korn A Little piece of heaven by Avenged Sevenfold Polly by Nirvana
A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold... Someone in the comments mentioned it, and I was like: there is NOTHING in this world that can be more disturbing than that. I mean it. Like, you have murder, necrophilia, cannibalism, zombies... Every sort of messed up thing LOL "EYES OVER EASY, EAT IT, EAT IT, EAT ITTT"
Don’t forget Iowa:::slipknot Or little piece of heaven:: Avenged Sevenfold (Too be honest with you any slipknot song disturbing but they are all beautiful all in their ways)
A high number of tracks that people love are about dark subject matter. The listener is where it becomes blurred. A lot of people just listen and sing along without any real connection. That's where music becomes magical. It can suck you in with a catchy hook but the deeper you go, you can eventually understand and empathise with the subject matter. That's IF the artist has actually done their best to be true.
Your description of falling away from me is basically a description of almost every Korn song. I think there are more disturbing songs then that from Korn. Same for Soad and tool
Really surprised the Korn song wasn't "Daddy", which is about John Davis himself being molested by a babysitter and his parents not believing him. Real fucked up shit.
+Gaseous Snake The thing is, that 'Daddy' is only known for it's, indeed, disturbing lyrical content. They didn't make it really catchy or anything and no one really listens to it.
Marilyn Manson only focused on the columbine massacre because people blamed his music for it and that made Manson get depressed and even canceled the rest of his tour and went to talk to the children that survived the shooting.
I do believe people are allowed to share why they hate music like this.... But I also believe people have the right to listen to whatever they wanna hear. Without unwanted feedback or opinions. I love all these Jams nothing is sickining
Dudes, the guy in the lyrics of "One" is a soldier, and he lost his limbs and senses because of war. If you do not see that, it changes de whole meaning of the song.
@@adamgriffith-smith9106 the idea is the soldier is completely locked in, totally conscious but unable to communicate. If that does not disturb you then you lack imagination. Some of the others are shocking for the sake of shocking, One is just bleak, miserable and empty.
@@adamgriffith-smith9106 look up Lotion, by The Greenskeepers. Both melodic and disturbing at the same time. JJJ radio program manager Richard 'the king' Kingsmill said it was 'the scariest song ive ever heard.' Enjoy.
@@dorianleakey you're right man. That and (thankfully) have not been in active combat. When they say, "war is hell" .... they're not exaggerating. Now imagine in the theater of war... A landmine literally takes away basically everything but your consciousness. That's pretty fucking disturbing in my opinion
There are too many comments about this so let me explain while yes many korn fans including myself love that song this list is about mainstream rock/metal songs every one loves and can jam out to daddy isn’t that it’s really disturbing but not many people can jam out to it and I don’t know anyone who isn’t a korn fan and likes that song but I do know plenty of people who don’t like korn and love falling away from me
Over 30 years ago, at the 1st ever deathfest, in Detroit, a preist was walking around passing out flyers for christianity. My friend who was the bassist for Lucifers Hammer was talking to Glenn Benton (Deicide) and the preist approached him and asked "would you like to be saved?" While handing him a pamphlet. Glenn knocked all the pamphlets outta his hand and groweled "save YOURSELF, fuck!"
If you take Disposable Teens as Manson showing approval for Columbine, you've never bothered to see the meaning behind the lyrics. No, it's not always literal; 'survived abortion' is probably a metaphor about a mistake that wasn't meant to exist.
Eh I dunno it's a great song and a bit fucked up but at points it's kinda dark humour, especially with the whole unnatural life part at the wedding and the zombie priest flipping you off.
Prison Sex by Tool has the most infectious guitar riffs and drum beat. When you find out what the song is about and truly listen to the lyrics it feels so wrong .
Amen listen to 4 degrees, that one is almost as good but when you sing along your like wtf am I really singing to this 😲lol it's so good though you cant help it lol
@@SamboGGX No it isn't. The flag being hoisted upside down means that. If displayed correctly while vertical, then the field of stars should be to the flag's right. Unless displayed in a window, in which case, it should be placed with the field to the left of the outside view. This doesn't hold true when being displayed on a street though. If the street is a North-South street, the field should be placed to the North. If the street is an East-West street, then the field should be to the East.
Because of the light in his mouth from the music video. But after that he wore that outfit with the light for live shows so it's not connected only to Ich Tu Dir Weh anymore. It makes a kick ass thumbnail though
The fact people put Justin Bieber in scariest songs list makes me not take the list seriously. Just because a song is shit doesn't mean it's scary. FNAF isn't scary, It's shit!
I LOVE Rammstein. I know what they are saying. I make sure to look up all songs i love for English translations. I have tickets to see them in August in PA. I CAN"T WAIT!
To be fair, most, if not all, of Korn's songs are disturbing, whether it's the sound or lyrical subject. Daddy, Dead Bodies Everywhere [most disturbing, in my opinion], Make Me Bad, Blind, Divine, Here to Stay, Falling Away From Me, the list goes on. So it's tough to choose just one.
for us metal heads thats going through depression and anxiety this type of music is like an escape from reality.... thats why most bands sing about depression drugs and anxiety also suicide... its a mind relaxer to me dont know if someone else agrees... with my anger issues mental health problems and anxiety this relaxes me lmao
Death Blooms and Internal Primates Forever are way more disturbing, Dig is "just" about how the music business is swimming with sharks and talking shit about other people to drum up notoriety, and to this they answer "fuck you".
@@MEINARD200 It's more in the sound than the lyrics. The twisted piano sample, Wayne's whispered short lines in the verses, the dark echoing production, etc
Would look up Gloomy Sunday by Billie Holiday there is a lot of emotion in it and isn’t one of the genres you mentioned. There is plenty of songs that have songs with emotions and meanings for example look at The Doors The End and you can gain a variety of insights through thought provoking metaphors such as “Roman Wilderness of Pain” which is a line easy to forget but means a place that was once great but failed and is now a place of painful memories. That is a hint hint to the Romans invading Gaul and failing on several military campaigns. In of which we can pull out a few to see the full example but it would have been a even more far fetched line so it’s simplified. Lines like that is scattered through countless songs from that single band. There is many bands and artist with interesting lyrics and meanings. It’s all about where to look. For example most movies are simply a short story that at best entertains you while if you look beyond regular boring movies you will find thought provoking films that makes you feel and think such as Come and See from 1985 from director Elem Klimov. The movie will force you out of your seat and drag you into the misery and agony of the characters in the film and at the end shove you back out of the film with despair and some PTSD due to the nature of the film. That movie is the only WW2 movie that isn’t some action packed go get em film no it’s a movie telling a story about Nazi Germanys invasion and war crimes on the Belarusian citizens that lived in the villages. You are left understanding the pain and misery of the victims of the dead and that of the survivors and are left confused and truly understanding the sins of war that I have yet understood from any other film while you have many songs or movies and even books that are filled with boring nonsense that has no meaning if you look you can find many thought provoking songs, movies, books etc. but I will say due to mass commercialization and shorter attention spans i due find it harder to find thought provoking meaningful media of entertainment.
@@zackzallie8735 not as much compared to other genres and it’s almost impossible to find a metal band where that’s the main topic they sing about unlike other genras where you have a list of artist that sing about nothing but that
True, buttttt people ( like myself ) Love the song falling away from me more than daddy, just because daddy is distubing and falling away from me is a fun but deep and sad song so it is loved by people and it has a less sad meaning than daddy, but people love falling away from me.
I see most people here talking about Daddy by Korn, and it's actually a very disturbing song - first time I heard it, I felt like Jonathan crying was like me breaking down due to some "not that good" shit I went trought in my family. However, I'll tell ya: "Diluted" on Slipknot's self titled album is about Corey Taylor's homeless life phase, and after the band recorded the song, he broke down and had Ross Robinson to comfort him. So, if they recorded Corey Taylor breaking down after the song, probably we all would react to Diluted the way almost everyone reacts do Korn's song.
@@Anonymous_Identity246 Nowadays I feel like Diluted was mostly a reflection of many traumas Corey went through, including sexual abuse, hence why this song is such a personal piece to him and was never played live. The thing is, all of Slipknot’s songs that are somehow personal to Corey Taylor leave it pretty much implicit - not like Korn’s songs that throw the emotions right at your face. The exception would be Scissors, this one’s very explicit albeit the lyrics not being directed linked to something Corey has passed (this song was written by Joey Jordison about cocaine addiction). Another close contender should the Iowa title track, in which Corey decided to outburst his feelings from the strugglesome recording sessions of Iowa. But again, everything is way too implicit, hidden behind the recording itself. Slipknot did play Iowa, however, when they played the entire album on its 15th anniversary: You can see Corey Taylor getting more and more emotional as the song goes on: It’s something like when Korn played their debut live, and Davis once again broke down during Daddy, but certainly not as disturbing when you think that Corey was reliving his struggles from the Iowa recording sessions, while Jonathan was reliving the time he was sexually abused. A final mention should be Skin Ticket, in which Corey sings about how was it to live in Iowa. It’s a quite a hard piece for him as well, and you can see him getting a little emotional when this song was being played around the The Gray Chapter era.
@@rageman.09 ok wow, that’s a really good analysis on this. And yea as I think about it, Diluted could be about the other traumas like said in the line “what did I do to deserve all of this?” Could also be part of the other terrible things he’s been through. In addition “metabolic” is basically slipknot’s daddy because it’s also about about child molestation and in that case I know that was personal for Corey because he went though sexual abuse as a child. I wonder if Corey broke down after that song too…
Nirvana's "Rape Me" is an anti - rape song. It's expressing how people are mostly raped by others they know, and how many others are facing the same problem(s). You can't just pay attention to song lyrics to know if they're "disturbing". You have to pay attention to the meanings as well.
I read the whole article at 2 am (cause I have no life) and I guarantee you that I would have shoot my self too because I couldn’t have handle all this trauma
+Ryan Horton "Iowa" is a strangely relaxing song. I love it. I cannot skip over it when it comes up. It's also a great sex song lmfao. I wish it was on this list xD
Taurus Guy nah, listen to fucking pop....it has so many references to rape, sex, drugs, and murder. Most of the songs on here were either anti-rape songs, or songs about how they felt. Some people feel like committing suicide, which, I do believe is a bad thing, but I wouldn't call it disturbing. Songs like these use a lot of metaphors that really have to take some thinking to get the correct meaning out of it. that's why they are talented instead of pop shit that just repeat 3 sentences that have like, 5 words and you can understand the meaning all to clear which is fucking retarded. But thats just my opinion. I'm sorry to say this, but if you like pop music, your probably stupid and have no common sense. goodbye and have a wonderful day! :)
@@bakugokatsuki3753 Nope. For me, it’s the feeling I got from hearing Daddy for the first and only time where Jonathan Davis just starts breaking down in the middle and end of the recording because of some monster disguised in human skin abusing him repeatedly.
There are a bunch of artists on this list who make mainly disturbing shit. Pretty much every Korn song is disturbing in it's own way, every single rammstein song is just fucked up if you look up the lyrics. Marilyn Manson in the other hand... Yeah, i guess that he has about 13 songs that could fit the category of disturbing, but mostly, i don't really find most of the stuff that they have made outside Antichrist Superstar that disturbing.
Ultoch all of his songs are about disturbing content but your definition of disturbing may be different then mine because he doesn’t have a single song that isn’t completely either about a disturbing topics or something so different then the majority of public opinion that it is considered disturbing in my opinion
whole entire reason Metallica's one was a song people still like is because of a story they got of a solider who lost every body part so it's not so disturbing more than realistic
Yes. Chop Suey only mentions suicide and the song has nothing to do with it. Sugar mentions Russian roulette and domestic abuse. Also Sugar is about a guy having AIDS so it should've replaced Chop Suey.
I haven’t seen it yet and while I don’t personally find it disturbing myself, Them Bones by Alice In Chains is my honorable mention for this list. I don’t find a lot of these songs disturbing either just the raw realities of this word we live on
