Nice presentation.. I'm guessing you fish solo most of the time and the second seat is mainly for show. Your 2nd man would have no where to put his feet without kicking the battery and tank. Understanding of course your space is limited. Also you may consider securing your spare fuel tank and tool box..they'll be banging around back there hitting your Minnkota wiring and bilge pump. Next, replace the wood block your Minnkota is mounted on. The two screw ideas in the block of 2x6 will not stand up to torque and vibration and will breakaway for sure. To secure wiring/hoses running front to back consider this: short lengths of 1x1 square scrap wood. Then run a bead of construction adhesive along the natural horizontal ribs in the hull from front to back. Stick the wood to it and let it cure..you end up with an excellent securing strip that will receive wood screws to hold your conduit tube. Up out of the way of the floor and strong without drilling into the boat! One more consideration..mask and tape the interior floor and deliver the boat to a place that does spray in box beds. It is amazing how much quieter the boat is and it provides a bit of traction for walking. I have wood floors in mine but I have a buddy that has a small aluminum like yours and it's great. Not trying to cut down your work, very well thought out and thorough. Just trying to provide some insight of the things I've learned over the years trying to make a bare aluminum boat more convenient. Maybe a few ideas to make your boat even better. Good work for sure..

I actually never fished alone in this boat. Most of the time I had at least 1 other person with me and sometimes even a 3rd. Plenty of room for the feet in the front. The stainless screws for the trolling mount are 2" long into solid wood. Should hold for quite a while. The back of the boat does not move much compared to the front so I've never had much of a problem with the spare fuel tank and orange tank. I do appreciate all the tips though!

@@danutdlp Never use stainless steel with aluminium, they will start corrosion of your aluminium parts a specially in salt water.

There is a electric fuel pump inside the tank of most automobiles.The gas tank could be in the back of the boat.A spare gas tank should not be necessary but the spare tank could go in the front.

Setup is almost identical to mine but I have a smaller motor. Nice boat and nice setup. The main thing I did different is that I have the anchor rope running from the bow along the side of the boat so I can control it from the stern when I am by myself. I don't plan on doing the upgrades you are talking about. I prefer simplicity.

Some great ideas, but I’m a wrecking ball, I can see me just pulling that anchor in by hand, would be much faster, those little straps holding the gas can I I would destroy or just not even use when I’m rushed to go fishing, that retractable strap to hold the boat down , ied end up destroying very quick and end up just useing ratchet straps, but I like your ideas lol

What about the fuel & electrical lines ran together in the same conduit
@danutdlp
@danutdlp 6 лет назад
Moses Bullrush A large area of 'cathode' relative to 'anode' will accelerate the anodic corrosion. Although aluminium is anodic to stainless steel, large relative surface areas of aluminium to stainless steel can be acceptable, dependant on local conditions. Stainless steel fasteners in aluminium plates or sheets are normally considered safe, whereas aluminium rivets or bolts holding stainless steel parts together is an unwise combination, as there is a practical risk of corrosion. An example of the safe use of stainless steel and aluminium together is where stainless steel fasteners and hold down bolts are used to secure aluminium roadway or bridge parapet guards. Even with no insulation between the metals, there should be little risk of corrosion.

Just take your time go to these used boat stores almost everything is stainless that means no rust ,you’ll get good deals ,I just bought two brand new seats,well they look damn new for 5 bucks each ,great deal ,these seats go 75 bucks a piece and get the adjustable mounts all universal,5 bucks each,the key is to make your boat the way you want it,just take your time ,good luck you’ll find a good motor ,but some things you need new like gas tank,hoses and primer bulb,things like that.it will be a little expensive but hey it’s a good hobby,there’s so many ways to save money,if you have a 12 foot aluminum like me ,and you have a 8 foot bed put the tailgate down and the boat will fit right in,this way you don’t have to deal with trailer,I have a car so instead of spending thousands for a truck ,it cost me 300 bucks for a custom hitch,I’ll have to get plates and registration but I’ll save thousands because I don’t have to buy a truck ,you see it’s tit for tat,but take your time you’ll save a lot of money
