Hey all, I hope you enjoyed my first adventure into Ultima Online Outlands. New videos to follow, but for now, you can find me live over on Twitch every Friday and Saturday: twitch.tv/CrumpetXD
Awesome video! I trained up in the same places over a year and a half ago as a bard when i started aswell! Was a nice little trip down memory lane. I never played ultima before Outlands, and i love it so much. I knew one day the newness of it would wear off and i would start feeling nostalgia for this new but old game. That day has come today
Great video my dude. One thing I would say for new players is to check out the sanctuary dungeon each week. You can’t commit criminal actions in the sanctuary dungeon, so there’s no PKs or thieves to worry about, meaning that you can explore in peace, only worrying about the mobs themselves. It’s a great way to learn a dungeon. Keep the videos coming!
You should know the big downside. 50% reduced gold and XP. So you would need 18h to reach the same valie you got. Were your deaths worth 6h of your time ? I doubt it ;)
Thanks Raphael! I have a new video coming out this Sunday, it's a new "Story", but with a similar format. My next video will be story based still, but very different. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
@@LostCrumpetUO How much does it cost to buy the house you want? When I looked at Outlands I turned away because of the lack of real estate (I used to love IDOC hunting and placing my own house)
@@Domitiani There is a new landmass coming soon -- the Wildlands (I think!). This will add lots of new house spots, and I hope drive down the retail market. There's A LOT of houses for sale in Discord atm. I've seen quite a few I like for around 5million. So it's pretty attainable.
No different than what I did and what I tell new players to do if they are a bard. Still grinding out my bard to this day one monster at a time. Started as a peace bard fencer. Finished fencing codex did macing then swordsmanship. When I switched to archery I also changed from peacemaking to provocation. Never looked back. T14 lyric now with 13 links unlocked. Enjoyed the video keep it up See you around Outlands I’m sure CptRedBeard is my Main character
This video kinda highlights the problem with Outlands. Having reds is okay. Having this many reds is not. In true classic UO dungeons were packed with blues and reds were relatively rare already thanks to actual downsides like no access to towns and meaningful stat loss for dying. There should be a risk of reds coming, but it should never be a guarantee that every X minutes you're going to have a red after you, like there currently is.
For me its ebs and flows, some weeks I see no PKs, other weeks.... a lot :). During the week it's pretty quiet, but at the weekend, it's a bi rougher for sure.
You should check out pwnstars necro summoner template. It's a pvp/PvE hybrid build that does not excel in either category but gets the job done. I started one after I got fed up with being PKed on my bard and while I still get PKd sometimes, it's nice to be able to turn the tables at any given moment and watch them run from me lol, other than that I travel in a group or run the sanctuary dungeon. I think sourgrape has a similar build but on a lumberjacker with just enough magery to use some important scrolls.
Just saw the video. Try backstabber :) its the best. Safe and well in every situation when you get used to it. I can't play anything without it after i got used to it :P
Hah, probably! You'll see me running from mobs on level three of most dungeons as 'A Crumpet', or farming leather in dungeons as 'a tasty crumpet'. Either way, don't be surprised if you see my corpse :P
I will say, PKs are more prevelant atm, especially the weekends. It comes and goes though, some weeks i see no PKs, then nothin but PKs! Even got hit by a stealth mage today :(
@CrumpetXD Yeah, I see that! I'm no means a Trammie or anything, but when I'm just farming level 1/2 and get pk'd for no reason, it's just annoying. Love your content btw!
I can type it here, it's basic as heck :D 100 Chiv 100 Music 100 Peacemaking 100 Discordance 100 Macing 100 Tactics 100 Tracking Simple build for a new player like me :D (Btw, I only found out about Echos last week, very cool!)
you need to find a gate escape macro, clicking on stuff when you're being chased by reds is not ideal, you want to just be able to hit one hotkey and be out when you're near the gates
Hey Zachary, you might know, so sorry if this is obvious, but, UO Outlands has greatly improved the vanilla client, it's 100x better than the retail version. If you did know that, and it's more about a specific change I made, I just watched this video from JaceOwns, and implemented his suggestions: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pBo_78da2ko.html
Oh, to clarify this character is 7x GM; however, that doesnt really mean much anymore -- there are so many new progression mechanics that 7xm GM is just the start, still a newbie character. Im a new player to Outlands, but this wasnt my first 12 hours on the Shard. Id been playing for a month at this point.
Hey Edo! Uuuh, im a farmer haha :D. Honestly the GOLD is good, but not amazing, it's the ITEMS that are great. I'd argue you should keep items for later, future characters etc, but I sold them to make a kick start my progression.
How did you unlock aspect ? how long did it take you? Am i supposed to really create alt gatherer to be able to unlock it? I chosen dexxer with chivalry as main and i cant really make much gold
Hello! I unlocked it ONLY using my Chiv Bard, I didn't do any gathering (until very recently). I think it cost me about 100k in total, but keep in mind I was Lyric which was a little cheaper. I think the main thing is keep in mind it's meant to be something to work toward, and not a quick unlock. Codex, Aspect and Chains are your grind >> and then Aspect and Chains will be your grind thereafter for a long time. I just hit Aspect Level 8 and i FINALLY feel strong... only 7 more levels of grinding to go:P All of my starting gold came from my Bard, but now, like you say, gathering is a great way to get gold. 5K ingots will get you 90-100k. One thing you could do is get a skinning knife, and after every kill skin an enemy -- it'll be slow, but 5k Leather is about 10k gold, and it's very easy to do. You can do it with ZERO Forensic Eval as well, you'll get less leather, but less is better than nothing. But yeah Ultima Online Grindlands is real, personally I like it as it's something to work for, but it's slow for sure. Hit me up on Discord, im in the Outlands Discord as CrumpetXD, i'll give you 50k tonight to help you out, im pretty poor as I just bought a bunch of stuff, but hopefully 50k helps you move forward.
