I’m also very introverted so I really appreciate you pushing yourself to do youtube. The education you’ve spread is immeasurable. Thank you for sharing it with us.
11:08 It's hard to tell if a breeder is faking interest, but it's extremely easy to tell if a breeder has genuine interest. If they're engaging in conversation, offering new information, discussing different details, that's real interest. A good breeder genuinely gets excited about the animal they produce, and they're more than eager to share that information and passion with anyone and everyone.
My grandparents used to bring reptiles home from Central America in suitcases in the 1960's. I fell in love with redtails in the wild, as a very small child.
yup, my first boa was born days before i bought it, it had its first shed out of the shipping box and took its first meal with me.. luckily, hes a robust 9 year old now but i always ask now
Fantastic vid as usual! I love that you put the boa locality/subspecies cards up when you pull one out, but a great addition might be the age! Would love to know for instance how old that beautiful Hog Island Boa is :) Thanks again Brian!
The most important point was the last. Every reptile keeper should join USARK. The threat to our hobby is constant, and the importance of an organizing/lobbying/litigating organization cannot be stressed enough. The removal of burms from the Lacey Act demonstrates the effectiveness of USARK, but there are many more fights to come. Strength in numbers!
@@BrianBoas hey I'm about to buy a female moonglow and male motley moonglow is there any issues breeding moonglow to moonglow like motley to motley i think has genetic issues?
I feel like you left out one type of motivator for breeding boas. I would call these breeders the "mad scientists" of boa breeders. Sometimes you get a boa that is so exceptional for a pattern or color and you just think, if I could get this boa, to breed with a boa that has this other morph, imagine how beautiful some of the offspring could be! This is my case, anyway. Are my hopes and expectations unrealistic? Probably so.. BUT, if it works, just imagine the possibilities and how beautiful some of the offspring would be! :-) They are living works of art. Great video Brian!
Well Brian u is right about how handling your snakes will ease the blood pressure and calm u down a lot and even make bad or sad days go away ,,, i have experience that feel with the snakes i had'. Spiritual they are ,,, On the end situation I 'll say no matter what happens the animal keeping will rule for all times no matter what happens with the laws. " BET " ,,,, Great vid ,,,, well done fellow snakeman '
New to your channel, thanks for all the info. I will soon be a new boa owner. Our town actually has a ordinance banning all constricting snakes, however that will not hinder me. It also helps that the county will not enforce local city and town ordinances, and my daughter is the county animal control officer. Ha ha.
Loved that video. Your boas are stunning as usual. Sometimes I’m being antagonized for keeping snakes. I try to educate but these people have already made up their mind no matter what…
Dear Brian, You are probably one of the best RU-vid channel about boa snakes. I feel like I am watching the documentary regarding these fabulous creatures. Keep up the good work mate. I wish I was in USA and get my BOA from you. Anyway, I am in love with BOA longicauda and will get one from England (i am in Scotland). When I moved to this country, i started using dehumidifier due to the weather in here. I’m searching for the ways to keep humidity level high only inside the enclosure. Do you think plastic tub will be a suitable for my situation?
I think your average Joe Schmo doesn't take into account all of the factors that you bring up as far as the costs of boa breeding. We see the cost, and we think, "Whoah, this dude is making bank!" It was very informative from this video, and others, to see the reality of the situation. Thanks for providing these tips and questions. I will definitely review them before I go to the expo when I go to pick up my Brazilian Rainbow Boa Thanks!
Hey Brian love ur content keep up the awesome work 👏 I have a question I know khal albino breeding can sometimes give bug eyes but I wanna breed a moonglow to motley moonglow is there any genetic issues I should worry about ? Like super motley have issues I think 🤔
Dear Brian, I will get a pair of Boas soon, im either going for a pair of Nic T+ Albino (Burke) Motley x Sunglow (Burke) or the other pair is T+ Caramel Pastel x T+ Caramel Pastel. What is more promising and on the long run more diverse and has more short term successes and long term goals? What do you think are the possibilites of both in rarity factor and what would you think of creating with those? Thank you for your informative Videos!!
I don't have any experience with those types of boas. The questions you ask are a matter of personal opinion, so get the boas that most appeal to you personally. Good luck!
I believe the Suriname and the Guyana are the same boas. Well at least all the boas that are in captivity nowadays. There might be a difference in locale from a wild boa all the way on the other side of Suriname and another wild boa all the way on the other side of Guyana now something like that i would say yeah there's probably a difference in the two. But like u said nowadays u just can't go way out in the jungle and find a red tail and put it in your backpack and bring it home with u. I really wish we could would love to see some new blood in the hobby especially some new Argentine boas.
Beware of breeders or flippers making and or claiming possible HET or 100% HET for this or that regardless of what species's and or morph the snake 🐍 is!!! Their are alot of wonderful people in this hobby but for ever honest breeder their are 3 shady ones that will manipulate and lie 🤥 through their teeth!!!! Great👐video👍😃💪Brian😎
@@BrianBoas I know people within the reptile 🦎🐍🐢🐊 industry that breed and or exchange 💱 reptiles with others that deliberately labeled them as possible HET or even 100% HET! Knowing d#mn well they weren't! I wouldn't buy 💩 from them at all whatsoever! It's unfortunate and unbelievable that their are raunchy people still in this hobby that will say anything for a profit regardless of whether or not it's true!
As a mother whom has birthed human children. You do NOT know when your child is going to be born. Signs might be there but no one can pinpoint exactly when. So yeah.
Your videos are informative but I disagree. Not all breeders want to keep things from buyers as I've met a lot and they are more than open to share whatever info I ask. When dealing with lineages and locale specific boas it absolutely matters as they are purer bloodlines with way cleaner patterns, even yourself has mentioned a line of suriname you keep due to the colors. Also, a trusted line like futo or flrt are true to area specific like suriname so you can trust the boa is from that area. Just my opinion but you can definitely tell a 3rd generation high quality boa versus a farm bred suriname from a pet store.
As I mentioned in the video, the things I discussed do not apply to all breeders! In fact, the majority of breeders I've dealt with most of these things do not apply.
I've hear a lot of information and you keep it slow paced so I can do other things while listening, I wish you would move the camera to a higher angle so we can see they snakes from the top and it's a more aesthetic look on camera for people too ;)
