Lots of great information, thank you. What is your advice on older hot wheels? I have a collection that basically goes from 1994 (some older) to 1999. Lots of numbered cards, 4 car sets, FE’s, SE, some sets. Some TH’s as well. Also JC Whitney and Jiffy Lube which don’t seem to have held their value or not gained any above what they cost. Approx. 1200 pieces. What could I expect out of a collection like that?

Josh isn't your typical HotWheels collector, most are disgusting people inside and out. I use to collect hot wheels but quickly found out the hot wheel guys are some of the most vile and ruthless people you'll run into. Just very rude people with no sense of hygiene ( t-shirt, sweats and body odor). I've witnessed on a handful of occasions guys taking treasure hunts out of kids hands which was the last straw for me to walk away from the hobby. Just be aware before you jump into the HotWheel world and a lot of so called collectors already have areas on lockdown between backdoor deals, deals with employee's who hold cases and the people who don't have jobs who can go when the stores open to have first shot.

This was interesting personally im a collector but I have debated selling Dupes or giving them away to friends and family...

It use to be so exciting in the 2000s to look and find unique hot 🔥 wheels! Now it seems like you don't find the treasures we use to find. They are getting super cheesy and more and more plastic and really dumb models that I'm sure kids don't even enjoy. Will we even care about digging through bins in the future???

Let's be realistic, most of the newer standard treasure hunts bring anywhere from 50 cents to $3. Why is this because the vast majority of them are s*** cars that nobody wants. Maybe the first few months they're out they're worth $5 but after that they go down. Now let's move on to the real problem at hand. If you want Super Treasure Hunts and that sort of thing you have to have your hand in someone's pocket giving them handjob or you have to be a store employee yourself that way you can read the pallets in the back room before they ever come to the floor. So now, here's the way this works. You agree to give said Store employee a handjob in the back room, behind the building, out in the parking lot, or wherever the agreed upon spot is. Now this comes in the form of everything from gift cards to actual cash transactions, and or any other possible thing you can think of. This happens more times than any of you can even possibly wrap your head around. Yes many of you get there in time to read the pallet yourself as they're rolling it onto the floor. But even those chances are far and few between. Again you usually have to know somebody that works there and ask them if they got Hot Wheels and they can bring them out for you to go through. And usually for that to happen you've slipped them some cash or a gift card or whatever. And again yes I know for a fact that this happens. With that being said I pretty much gave up on the idea of ever getting any of the Super Treasure Hunts or even regular treasure hunts really. To me they just don't exist. Hell for that matter I don't really buy any new Hot Wheels any longer. This is because usually there's not much I like, and the fact that all the boxes have already been gone through before they even come out to the floor. So it's not like you're going to get much anyway showing up to the store hoping to find something.

You still earn enough by selling opened ones aslong as it's worth more than one and a half dollars for a standard car I only sell packaged ones and on Etsy I sell custom cars and movie cars customi earn 17000 a year

Great vid! Remember too that Ferrari Hot Wheels go for more because Mattel lost the contract to make Ferrari's. JDM (Japanese cars) usually go for more regardless. Super Treasure Hunts will say TH somewhere on the car. Regular Treasure Hunts will have the "flame" logo.

In europe the short cards are worth less and the long cards are rarer

Where can someone by factory sealed cases. My friend and I run a church youth group and we have Hot Wheels races at least 3 times a year. I supply around 90% of the cars and all of the winners prizes from my own collection. Each racer gets to keep the cars they race with. Usually I stock up on cars at the local stores but pickings have been few. Great video by the way. Vroom, Vroom. Steven

Lately supers are found 1 per 10-15 cases. And everyone is looking. The odds are against you even if you go to a few stores every day sometimes 2x per day. You have to ask yourself is your time and gas money worth hunting them.

The older Treasure Hunts did come in Supers, the Difference is in the Card in the word Hunts it will have a $ instead of a S on Treasure Hunt$

Cars after 2007 with the real riders are supers. Not 2006. Not all supers have the gold flame, I think that didn’t start until 2015. And regular treasure hunts after a certain time have the silver flame behind the car. As for certain casts being more desirable most older Japanese stuff you can no longer find in stores will command high value along with Ferraris, Specific Volkswagen products and a few other things like the 83 Silverado.

One time I found a super with the hotwheels logo upside down unfortunately back then it wasn't worth much but now it would probably be gold.

I have over 400 cars in cards 200 loose and maybe like 6 tressure 2 supers but im going to open all eventually because i dont collect cardboard i collect die cast

I sold most of my collection years ago. On most of my sales customers were low balling me. Due to the poor economic condition most collectors tend to be stingy or cheap and want the car for next to nothing. I have a Super Kombi from 2015 which is valued at $150 to $195 depending on where you live. Most collectors want it for $40.00. The value is one thing but you may spend years before someone pays your asking price.

Curious, I generally only collect specific types of hot wheels (generally licensed, character cars). But I seem to only be able to find out about them a year or so after they come out when browsing ebay. Do you have any tips on finding/hearing of the newest releases?

At the Toronto Autoshow I guess Hotwheels did a scavenger hunt and hid a whole bunch of hotwheels around the convention centre and i happened to find a purple r32 skyline and found out it goes for $70 CAD I think it was my sign

Um for someone pricing think he know much about history of them or pricing...the history is actually unexplained and unknown if it's dug into cause most state real riders came out in 2006 amd 2007 the first super came about just a upgraded version of the reg hunt version. But history by expi And liteture suggest that real riders started in 2000, however if you find a sweet 16 treasure hunt or towjam they have real riders before 2000. So everything contradicts its self of what is and what is not a super. But from my opinion the first year they came out with a reg thunt & and super thunt version of diff cast was first year. As to first year also using the flame symbol However that contradicts it's self as cause I have found prior cars with the emblem not listed as a treasure hunt...
