The dreamcast had more games than the n64 despite being on the market for barely more than 2 years The dreamcast also had an unprecedented amount of solid software in such a short time period, the system sold well in the north american market but sega just literally did not have the cash to continue supporting it due to their horrendous business plans during the late genesis and saturn days The dreamcast was cheap when it launched and became significantly cheaper at the end of its life

It wouldn't save it otherwise tho. Sega did a lot of f-ups in the mid-90s. The fact that they were able to restructure in the early 2000s was a damn miracle.
