Folks! Hands down it has to be pienza as my favourite especially strolling around. But I will highlight Pisa outside of the central areas as the most “misunderstood” place on this list as it might surprise you if u delve deeper! 😎✌🏾
Thanks for that. Been to Toscana a few times and done most of these but a few in there we haven't yet been to so they can go on the list for the next visit, next month. We did get to Volterra and loved it, but it was a visit of a couple of hours and I didn't even realise there were Roman ruins.
I've visited them all, and I think you were spot on in identifying them as gems. I honestly have a problem with picking my fav. Probably Volterra though, which i visited early in the morning, before tourists started pouring in. I would recommend doing that with each and every one of them.
We just returned from Florence but the highlight of our Italy stay was discovering Lucca. It's so easy to add to a Florence itinerary and special in so many way. Ciao.
We are planning to go in mid-August and spend 3-4 days in Tuscany. We will go to Venice then to Rimini, first. Which cities and in what order would you recommend? Should we book rooms in different cities? Please advise.
We traveled to Tuscany in October. Spent three weeks in Italy. The weather was mild, mostly dry and not crowded. Prices are better on the shoulder season too. I hear Much of Italy curtails open hours in August. Wishing you a fantastic trip.
In August? In Tuscany we have 34/35 degrees fahrenheit, especially in central Tuscany!!!! Are you really sure? Anyway have a good sweat and enjoy it!!! 👍😂😂😂
There is no place like Tuscany! I loved Siena at night and had the pleasure of being in Montepulciano for a wine tasting when there were very few people in the town. I don't think I would go back to Florence though.
Florence is sth you have to prepare for once you get past the crowds and asshole scammers - theres beauty around it - it’s just we get too frustrated before we reach it
These are wonderful and amazing places to visit. Unfortunately, the film footage from this video does not capture the astonishing beauty. This tour guide needs a better cinematographer and editor.
Radda should absolutely be on this list. It was our favorite town to visit in Tuscany. Siena was way to busy and overpriced. Be careful wherever you go in Italy as we found many Italians take advantage of American tourists. They would inflate prices when they think you cannot read signs.
Yes ! I so hope you would do San Giniminiano....all those towers were a phallic fight , ridiculously, by the wealthy men there in days gone by....the higher the tower, the more it symbolized the size of his phallus & his powerful status. (Or not). 🧯🧯🧯
It had nothing to do with a phallus. sorry to disappoint you! It was simply a sign of wealth! There are many such towers in others towns in the region: Bologna , for example....
Erano magazzini di mercanzie, più alti erano più il commerciante era ricco ed aveva scelta di mercanzia. Si costruiva in alto in quanto c'era poco spazio entro le mura difensive della città.
Loved Tuscany!! Stayed in Siena, day trip to San Gimignano , Montepulciano, Pienza, Val d’Orcia…Montalchino, Assisi, Lucca… so lovely and great wine and food
San Gimignano what a town! Should have scored in the top 5! Arezzo was also a surprise, this medieval town dates back to 4th century BC and has plethora of home made trattorias serving local cuisine! The buildings and squares are amazing walking through the old town is a must!
There is only one place in the world where everyday life is so completely reflected in the sublime, in a wonderful mix of nature and culture........it is Tuscany. Marie-Henri Beyle, Stendhal
I love Lucca, among many other towns in the area, last year we stayed two weeks in Poggibonsi and visited all around. Volterra and Gigmingune (sorry about my spelling) Florence is lovely and the Ufitsi museum especially. We drove around the Chianti region and of course bought some wine! I am totally sold on visiting Italy.
When I went to Italy, our group started from Reggio Calabria. We went up the straight away and saw many wonders. Tuscany was a hidden jewel. I fell in love with San Gigmingnono.
Hi! I just discovered your channel ❤ and liked and subscibed! We will be at Livorno next year as it is one of our port of call. We only have 9 hours before our ship leaves. Am thinking of exploring on our own Livorno of course and Lucca as we had been to Pisa a few years ago. Will taking a bus to Lucca be easier or by train?
Yet another great Video Hal. I have always wanted to go to Italy and or even move there and find a nice affordable cottage. You have mentioned a lot of towns I have not heard of so I am excited to look more into these places and pray one day I can make it to see them in person.
I don't know how the video will continue (I'm writing after the intro) but just for not playing Tarantella in a Tuscany video you deserve an award (someone will be surprised but no one from Rome to the north plays this folk music, who is played only in southern Italy). Now I'll watch the video, I hope you won't disappoint me. 😀🍺
Because the region is not that big, it is approximately the size of Vermont (US). The different towns have a lot of culture and history in common, nevertheless each town has its own character.
