That hammer reminds me of a claw hammer my dad had when I was a kid. Unfortunately I have three older brothers and they lost it before a move to a new house. They did that to a lot of his tools. They were the bane of his toolbox. I know for a fact that he loved that hammer and used it on his job. They paid the price for that loss for about a year. They were not allowed to use his tool for that whole year. It was a very comfortable hammer to use. You made it look brand new again. Great work.

WOW!!! Another VERY AWESOME "Resto." here, "Magdad!!" Let me tell ya, you really awed me with that final reveal!! I figured that you were going to do something more to that handle, and I wondered if you were going to do something to replace that label, after you had to sand it off. Even so, when you revealed your finished work, I actually gasped out loud and said: "WOW!!" out loud as well!!! 😊 What a FANTASTIC job!! I'll bet this hammer may look even better now, than when it was new!! 🙂 Watching what you did with this hammer makes me wish I was back home in WV. right now, and that I had enough money to restore the "Stacked Leather" handle on my Dad's old hunting knife, which I'd say is about the same vintage, as this hammer!! The only difference is, I would have to buy a new batch of those leather rings first, as the ones on Dad's knife began to badly deteriorate a long time ago, and as a result; Dad chose to wrap it up with brown electrical tape! At least I now know that I can use the same polyethylene spray on my Dad's knife handle that you used here; should the new stacked leather need an additional sheen put on it!! 🙂 Take Care & I'll be anxiously watching for the video of your next "resto" project!! Decades ago Estwing sold two-tool sets which included a hatchet and claw hammer. I still have my set which has been useful for many years. Your ball pein hammer turned out beautifully. I have the same deteriorated finish on the leather that you repaired. Your work turned out great, so I'm glad their is such an effective solution. Happy 100th anniversary to Estwing. Keep on going.

Awesome restoration of the Estwing ball peen hammer, Magdad! Love that you added the decale back. I think you ought to send this link to the video to Estwing as I am sure they would be impressed. 😉👍👍

Thats beautiful. I wonder if they still make that hammer, it has great style. Good job on the handle too, I find those daunting myself...

Thanks Alex. I think Estwing only offers the ball peen in the blue plastic handle now.

We were at the Ohio state fair today and there was a big display/booth area near the main entrance to promote New Jersey! Not sure why exactly, but they were certainly trying to promote New Jersey for tourism. All they had to do is say you were from there! 😁👍😉

@timeflysintheshop

@@357magdad Yeah, it is the closest place where you can get to the Ocean from Ohio. We do have the "North Shore" as we say about lake Erie, but it is not the ocean. Though it is nice to go to a beach with a very large body of water and not have to worry about jellyfish, or sharks, or etc... 😁👍😉

Several years ago (maybe a decade or so) I went to the trouble of epoxying a cup brush for a angle grinder thinking it would keep the bristles in.........I found out they were just breaking off and the epoxy really didn't help.

Hey MagDad, I tried those conditioning belts you recommended on a prior video, but I had to return them because they wouldn't fit my 1X30 belt sander. Shame! Are there any small wire wheels where they don't fling out? Are the vintage dremel ones better than the modern ones?
@357magdad
@357magdad Год назад
I had to make some modifications to my machine in order to run the thicket conditioning belts. I like the plastic abrasive bristle wheels as a replacement for the wire wheels.

Magdad, Your hammer looks brand new! Out of curiosity, have you tried either Dremel's or one of the aftermarket shields to stop the wires from hitting you? Bob

Thanks Bob! I have not tried a shield for my Dremel.
