I’m so on board!!! I likely won’t read this until the November release since I’ll be finishing my reread of The Malazan Book of the Fallen about then anyway. I like the idea of a Karsa book with no Karsa. As frustrating as it can feel at times, Erikson's ability to prop up characters who spend most of their time off-page is one of his super-powers. Karsa spent so much time being relatively unknown to other characters it will be nice to see his mythos grow off-page.
@@LesMartin 100%! Some of the characters you know don’t even show up but they have nicknames now and it makes you thirst for something on them later on like crazy. I need like 5 different sequels now just based off reading this!

I'm finishing up House of Chains right now so it will be awhile yet before I get to God is Not Willing but I look forward to it. Defo gonna finish the Book of the Fallen first.
Me too, I preordered to show support to Steven Erikson. After the 10 main books I plan on tackling the ICE main books so it'll be a while before I get to that pre-order :)
That’s why I always say just do book of the fallen, novels of the Malazan empire, PtA, Kharkanas for the first time around. That way you don’t need to do any crazy gymnastics and still get a lot of enjoyment that way.
Possibly, but I honestly kinda hope not for their sake because the first bit spoils tcg pretty good. I still think you’d get a lot out of book of the fallen anyway, but the big reveal wouldn’t be as impactful.

I don't think I have ever commented on any of your videos before but been watching for a while and you and others convinced me to skip other series like WoT to read Malazan and I really appreciate it since it's unlike anything I have ever read. I'm posting this because I'm finding out many Malazan readers don't know about this kick ass map so this might help them visualize where the characters are moving around in the world: www.maptoglobe.com/BkLNp_0VL I'm not sure if the map maker has a donation page but if someone finds it let me know since I've found this super handy especially in Memories of Ice and House of Chains (probably will be useful later too). When is the next Malazan book group going to release a video between others like AP/Mike/Andy/Phillip/Allen/etc....? I look forward to it since I'm barely ahead of some of ya and look forward to everything I might have missed :) Also special shout out to you Iskar, if you were not screaming at the top of the tower about this book series years ago I probably would not have found it. I probably would have defaulted to WoT which all things considering isn't a bad idea, but Malazan is so unique that I feel like I'm in a special club reading it :)

@@IskarJarak I need to check that out, that map of his has helped me a lot. It must have been hard to draw based on the story text alone. I really like the texture showing things like deserts, mountains, jaghut ice fields (which I don't think I fully understand besides the jaghut like their ice :))
Which side books do you think need to be read to get yourself completely prepped for tGiNW? Especially since you've read it? If any of course. I'm getting my copy probably early July so have time to read some of the side books if needed.

@@IskarJarak hey bird that steals I love your work and I know we are joined in appreciation of the greatest fantasy fiction world created and trust me I've read em all and I think we agree SE&ICE created a universe of such intricate anthropologic and imaginative creation we are spellbound with a series from this genre that keeps you into characters and creating your own path and prose around fav characters so compassionate and expressive in their humanity or trellity,toblikaism,different races in the empire and their interactions and culture nuances that are picked up .I love the marines,their part in Reapers gale on thru to crippled god is my favourite.Their especially SE writig resonates on so many levels.I can't wait to see if so.e brave authors write submit few side stories transcripts to see if they will allow license to write in the malaz World tho we would definitely want final say in SE ICE hands.a thought anyway.Im due GINW in 3 days so jonesin Already.as to that I just finished the final Drizzt Do'Urden novel "Relentless" by R A Salvatore. while definately not at SE level more like 1 of the greats like David Gemmell or Feist but a great series. Many books many characters a good touch of the empathy and alot of the scale but lacking still I highly recommend for u.I have many more if you haven't read Gemmell he's next.cheers man keep up the gr8 content.Just got plans thru on the rebuild gonna have my restocked den to reread all my books so not brand new but would love to jump on Skype or do a podcast utube or vid with ya honestly I often comment stoned but I do hav a BA Sociology anthro and lit so don't be put off by silly comments of love to wax malzophic with u a hood himself or good and kind any time house rebuild set for Sept but if not in my new den we can talk in my now space all good.look forward to it.or no if no so no worries.
