12 Reasons We Love and Hate The 2024 Toyota Crown

Living in Atlanta, I've only ever seen one Crown in the wild since launch. It was red, and now I'm realizing was probably you guys lol. In the wake of the Avalon being discontinued, I think there's absolutely a space in the market for a tall sedan/short crossover offering 10/10 comfort and 0/10 sportiness for an affordable price. Lexus and even Buick may be out of reach financially for some impending retirees on fixed incomes, so I think Toyota had a huge opportunity to make a discount ES/NX with a four-banger and a little less leather for ~$30k starting. As long as it offered a smooth ride and safety tech, nobody over 60 would care if it could pull a G in the corner. The Camry has grown more sporty and the Venza is more of a RAV4 in a suit, so the Crown was perfectly positioned to be Toyota's new GT car for retirees. It's a shame, then, that it's apparently missing those GT essentials (comfy seats, noise insulation, good audio) despite costing as much as a Lexus. As a result, I'm just not sure who should buy a Crown instead of a Lexus ES 300h.
