Fair enough it's less games but back then you couldn't loose matches, here you can loose 3-4 matches and still progress. It was much harder back then, much harder teams and no slip-up's allowed. Plus the only way to qualify in the early years was to win your league so it's much harder. And it's ins't necessarily top 4 that qualify. Chelsea finished 6th last year and qualified.
