Wow you hit the nail on the head with a lot of these topics. These were a lot of the reasons I decided Raleigh wasn’t for me and moved back to my home state. After being back in my home state I’m realizing Raleigh wasn’t as bad as I thought and I just needed to prepare a bit better. Hope to move back within a year or 2.
I understand how you feel..it took us 2 years to fully acclimate to the Raleigh area..and now we can finally say we feel at “home” What state do you live in now?

We like El Tapitio (tableside guac and Guadalajara fajitas), Chidos (quesabirra tacos and margaritas), Mezcalito, Don Betos, Taqueria La Zacatecana, Toreros, Salt & Lime (margarita flavor combos galore)! and A'Verde Cocina and Tequila..the last 2 are mexican fusion IMO but still great! Theres some great food trucks here as well!
We came out in March to look at all of the areas and see if we could live there, and I did feel very claustrophobic. That’s probably of the main reasons I would say that I don’t want to move there. We are from Southern California and live at the beach.
It definitely takes some getting used to! Its the opposite effect once you've been surrounded by all the trees then we go back to Callie and it feels so wide open and weird seeing for miles on end! Glad you at least came to visit and see for yourselves! I sure do miss being right down the street from the beaches though!!
Does all the houses in carry area has snakes in the backyard/front yard? How is it moving from Tampa to Cary? Good or bad? I heard there are lot of bug bites in NC
There are people who can live here for years and never see a snake. They tend to be seen near water sources and trails. Surprising we haven’t seen more than 1 this year (we live on wooded 3 acres with a water source). I wouldn’t let it deter you 🩵
I felt the same way and still do everytime my path crosses one!! The worst time for me was when my two dogs were running and playing and as they ran back to me they were each holding a piece of "dangling rope" on either side and as they got closer I realized it was a coperhead snake!! 🙄💩 I was screaming and runnin and they thought I was playing UUUGGGHHHH I thought they were gonna ☠ thankfully they were NOT bit 🐍...definitely not for the faint of heart my poor neighbors with all my screaking 😝😰
honestly talking with people there are some who say they've never seen a snake while others once or twice and others who see them several times a year. Depends on factors like wooded areas, water areas, etc.. I have "D" all of the above for the perfect 🐍 combo 🌳🚰
