ABOUT NEW AMSTERDAM
In the wake of the ambulance crash that ended Season 1, medical director Dr. Max Goodwin grieves the death of his wife, Georgia, and learns the difficulties of being a single parent - all the while continuing his commitment to solve systemic health care issues at the hospital. Add in his new responsibilities as a father and with cancer still lingering in the rearview mirror, everyone around Max must wonder how long he can sustain this impossible load. But "How can I help?" is not just Max's catchphrase, it's his reason for living. As long as he's helping others, Max is able to find hope in the most hopeless of places. The cast includes Ryan Eggold, Janet Montgomery, Freema Agyeman and Jocko Sims, with Tyler Labine and Anupam Kher.

I did not expect that at all, tears immediately as soon as he opened the door and said they had 12.

Oh dang, that got to me. I mean, it seems totally unrealistic (pretty sure it's not that easy to donate body parts) but it's some darn good writing! And there ARE people out there willing to donate for someone they don't know.

This reminds me of the domino transplant surgery they did on Grey’s Anatomy back whenever it was a great show. Season 5, episode 5. That was also my favorite season of Grey’s I think.

Depends on the hospital. In a hospital like New Amsterdam in a big city, I’d expect the wait to be longer, but in a smaller hospital ER, it can be much quicker depending on why you’re there. I went to the ER about two weeks ago and needed a very minor surgery (they didn’t even put me under) and they had me in and out in about an hour.

The ending is so cruel. Instead of testing everyone and being certain they can save the girl, they decided to have a little dramatic show of "we don't have ONE donor--we have TWELVE!! (which means it's very likely to find a match)." Even if they did manage to save his daughter, that flashy scene was extremely unnecessary and ignored the fact that "very likely" isn't 100%. Find out for sure before you give false (or correct) hope. If it was absolutely necessary to tell the dad before they could test everyone, it should've been done professionally. "Twelve people responded who are willing to donate part of their lung to your daughter, which means there is a very high likelihood that we're able to find a suitable donor for her. We still have to test everyone to see if anyone is a match, but her chances are very high."

I always feel sorry for children and in this case I feel sorry for these immigrants but they’re chewing up assets. The citizens should be hearing these people don’t have 1 second of right on American soil. I’m a registered nurse for 35 years. I’ve seen it 100 times most times they come here for free medical care or other things they’re free.
@buffya8012

And what in the hell does that matter?! Saying I’m not going to donate they’re not American is like saying I’m not going to donate because they’re black! It doesn’t matter !People come from poorer countries for help and other reasons,not to “steal” your precious healthcare! Good god and you’re a nurse?! I feel sorry for your patients,”oh I can’t treat you,your from South America “ I have never read something so disgustingly stereotypic and racist !😡

Not true, the great majority of Latin American are countries have free healthcare, as long as the head of the household and main breadwinner has a job and stays working keeping the position the government entitles you and your direct family like your spouse is enrolled for life and your children until they turn 18 to receive free healthcare,free surgeries,free treatments and free medication, the healthcare business in the U.S. could never compare or be the incentive for anybody to immigrate to the U.S. the gun violence, killings,kidnappings and overall fear for their lives is the reason why people scape their homelands, not because they want “free stuff” and btw there’s nothing for free in American hospitals they even charge for a bottle of water.
@Americanpatriot-zo2tk

@@Izzybaggins yeah, but what they consider free healthcare in South America. If you might get a shot of penicillin, that’s the reason these scumbags jump the Rio Grande for free medical care I’m a registered nurse I’ve seen it with my own eyes.

@Americanpatriot-zo2tk Год назад
@@Izzybagginswell I don’t know what you’re saying but if they have free healthcare, why are they coming here? I had a lady that was getting free dialysis because she would’ve died in Mexico because she didn’t have the money to pay for it. I don’t care what they’re telling you they don’t get free medical care, and their income here become Americans. They came here because it was their only chance at living, which I understand, but don’t agree with America first! I failed to see where your problems at there!
