Riksgränsen to Abisko via Vistas
I started at Riksgränsen in the north on September 6th 2019 close to the Norwegian border. Then I hiked south until I crossed over to Vistas in the east. Back-tracking to Kungsleden, I then walked north to Abisko finishing on September 12th 2019. The trip took me 7 days and 6 nights and total length was approx. 120 km.

Another great video. Just the right mix of camp life, scenery, and pleasant unfrenzied music. The whole thing has a pleasing sway.

It was perhaps one of my most memorable and enjoyed hikes to date full with scenic mountain lanscape, a mixed bag of weather, mostly good though and lot's of alone time in the mountains - just the way I like it 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Lovely choice of music for the sweeping terrain! Can you talk about your pitch in camp 5, about 7:56min. You are using rocks on all corners; are these holding stakes down in case of wind, or critical to your pitch instead of stakes? Wondering how well these hold and your technique. I like the brief talking and focus on the landscape.

Thank you for your comments Karen! I just read my own notes in my trip report: brianoutdoors.blog/2019/10/08/day-6-camp-at-lake-allesjokk-to-camp-nissonjokk-20-1-km-11-09-2019/ "I was awoken at 8:07 am; the wind had shifted direction coming now from the east and blew with such force that the zippered door cord loosened and the fly door blew into me like a sail full with wind. It was no big deal as nothing happened and I could just fasten it again while lying in bed. To be fair the wind had changed direction, the Notch had been pitched since 16:30 pm the day before and it had survived a decent beating through the night. The Tarptent Notch didn’t let me down. It’s a great shelter and I liked the comfort that the partial solid inner tent gave me." I was camped in a very open area that night and the wind was really gusting at times. I used two 9" stakes on the ridgeline tie outs and only 6" stakes everywhere else. In hindsight I should of just packed 9" stakes then I wouldn't have had to use the rocks at this location. I used the rocks because I was worried that the 6" stakes would come out through the night. They didn't and that was great. I didn't use rocks on any other pitch for the other nights on this trip. Hope that answers your question?

Hi Brian, a beautiful and calming video, thanks! Surprisingly few hikers in September.

Thank you! Yes, I really enjoyed the the solitude on this one. Only met the crowds when I was on "hiker highway" but even then I was on trail a week before they were closing down the STF huts so it was fairly quite. Can't wait to travel up that way again.

Welk that was epic Brian and very well put together. What a stunning area and I looked it up on the map. I was thinking I'm sure you had the DCF tent then I see it was a trip from last year. Inspiring. Thanks.👍

Thanks Dave! I love the area up there. I really missed not being there in the mountains this year. I did upload some vlogs in a 5 part series for the hike last year but I never did a single movie about it so I thought that I should do one now that I'm getting the hang of Final Cut Pro 🙂 No, I didn't have the DCF version back then but I do want to get it up there on a future trip. Take care.

Great job. Tight Notch pitch ☺️. Inspiring video. Do you go solo, or with a shy partner?

Thank you! Yes, the secret with the Notch is getting the ridge-line taut, then she'll look great 🙂 / I hike solo 99.9% of the time. All of the filming is done by myself with the aid of a tripod. Thanks for commenting and watching.
