Thanks so much Adam for sharing with we fans more of what's behind the scenes of the Gap Train. We very much appreciate your mentioning the 'ol Man Bill Hoskinson's tip for saving weight while achieving the traction you need.As with the Mountain Dew, you guys coming up with that incredible front shock extension and the turbo outside the truck was a boon for the sport and we're now seeing those innovations all over the racing scene. Good on ya for thinking outside the box and sharing those ideas with the racing community!
Man I love this truck it's a beast an then you add its story just since you guys built it on the show...its killer I always look forward to seeing new videos of what you guy's are doing with it
this was super cool to see i’m building my 87 s10 in my garage which is my first real build so it’s really helpful and cool to see other who have done it
Yall are definitely one of my favorite Street/No time camps! I've never had any problems with my vs gates I want to say I've had vs gates on all my turbo builds, my Huron Speed single kit on my 99 Z28 came with xs power 44's but they where shit I went to vs 44's haven't had a problem in that department for a while
Great 👍job brother. Goes to show you, you don't have to have a ton of money. Just the Wil and the thrill to race. Love it. Keep up the great 👍work guys and we'll be seeing yall soon. Come on Spring!!!!!.
Very kewl I'm building a 94 s10. It's amazing what you can do with the stock suspension and make it work quite well. Thanks for more suspension information.
Another way to flair the fenders is to cut the lip, then put a rim on, then use a baseball bat & put it up in between & roll it around from front to back. You can work your way down the bat closer to the fat end until you reach desired flair ;)
I'd like to see you through both those plates of metal that are on the tailgate if that thing ever flips those zip ties will break and those will go flying who knows where but it wouldn't be hard to drill them and put a through bolt through there and you can still take them on and off probably easier than reseptide in it just like riding a motorcycle I say dress for the crash not the ride it's the same thing with the race car prepare for the crash not the race be safe brother keep up the good work
I didn’t realize you guys had my old turbo on there. Lol. It trapped 134 at 3400lbs in my car. But yeah, i beat it up. Ate a lot of bugs and rocks on a couple race weeks. 😬
Watched you guys at rmrw🤘. You and your buddies are pretty crafty,, add a supplemental/ removable radiator for street drives and bring it to sick week PLEASE!!!
New sub here. Looking at your build (sweet btw) I’m collecting parts and knowledge for my 2008 turbo colorado that I want to build for the track. I LQ4/80e swapped my foxbody, that’s just a driver. I want something FASTER! Keep it up. 👍
Love your videos and love the truck. I have a suggestion to fix the cooling issues you have. Take the radiator and flip it so the fans are on the bottom blowing upward cause your drawing air in from the bottom and the trans cooler also. Its like 2 air flows working against each other the way it is plus you might gain a half a pound of down force with the air blowing upward probably not but mabye. Look forward to seeing it run somewhere this summer and ill be watching the videos thanks
Great video and thanks for being transparent! What size are the wheels front and back along with tire size? Love the look and I'm considering running the same wheels
We haven't done a ton with egt tuning yet but from what I have read it seems to work better to see a dead cylinder more than fine tuning of each cylinder
Definitely. My son gets his license this year and we have a nice Colorado truck we are building. Once we start on it we will definitely make some videos showing the build.
I would love to see a build sheet on an s10 like yours! Too be honest I'm trying to replicate it to an extent. I just want my turbo In the engine bay though!
It has been a stock bottom end a few times this year. We had a sbe in it during Rocky mountain raceweek and it took 33 to 35 lbs like a champ. They have a life expectancy and the tune up has to be really good to keep them alive at those power levels
This Trucks bad ass I love it. I’ve got two questions. What size AN line did you run for the radiator? And did you cut the hole in your frame to run the lines threw? Thanks
It's 16an line which is really marginal for a street car. 20 an would be better. I didn't have to cut any holes in the frame but it was tight and tricky getting it through
@@maktvmidamericakustoms8837 Exactly. I was worried 16an was going to be to small but I’ve seen a lot of people using it so I’m going to give it a try. Thanks again for the reply. If your bored check out my Ls swapped S10 on My Channel.
@@sheltonbogarage9580 you should be in good shape. We only had issues on extend drives in hot temps and honestly haven't looked in to the real cause. So I don't want to blame line size completely for our issues
I remember on the show everyone was laughing where you guys were putting the turbo. I thought you put it up there as a joke but when you left it there I was wondering why when there was enough room under the hood
I have a vs 85/96 and vs 44wastegate in normal weather it’s about 2.6 more boost than dome. But cool weather 50 or less have boost creep issues which make tuning a pia. So what I was wondering did you switch to single 44tial and if so do you have any creep issues thanks.
We typically use a single 60mm on all s400 chassis builds. Depending on how much boost you are making and turbo placement, priority, etc it can sometimes be hard to keep things on target. Are you on cO2
Great question and it is surprising really easy. Just make sure you get the big wire kit from holley with the coils. That will make sure the wiring side for the coils can handle the extra amp draw. Then just need a few 60 to 80 amp relays. One for each bank. The big wire kit will get power from those relays. We are going to do a video in the near future to show how it hooks up.
Hey I've heard you guys say "the show" and I've gathered it was/is on MAVTV but whats it called. I've been back into the files watching mtn dew vs the world and still haven't seen much about this show..also what's a pecker even do? Off topic but What does a horse shoe do? Is there any horse socks? Do longer comments help the algorithm or just any comment..
Is this the same truck and setup that just won a $250K dollar no prep race a couple months ago ? If so throw the little truck some love and get the truck a engine upgrade and get something like a Proline engine or Big block Chevy or 2Jz Basically something you can go race no prep kings championship races
@@maktvmidamericakustoms8837 you mean like a -16? I'm asking Inside diameter just making sure I follow. My main reason is because I know people have issues with heating sometimes an I feel my input might help if necessary. I have a ford ranger with a 347 stroker (totally different then what you have I know) an I use it for offroad/mudding. I ran my radiator in the bed (its a stock 5.0l mountaineer radiator) an im still running a regular belt driven water pump with 1 1/2 inch hose an I never have a heating issue. Just figured I'd throw my 2 cents in.
It's now just a cheap summit rod and piston aluminum 5.3 The heads are stock 799s with btr high rpm springs. It has a Baker engineering cam from TJ Grimes
Yes sir sure do! Here is the link midamericakustoms.com/collections/suspension-components/products/mak-gap-brackets-leaf-spring-brackets-for-caltrac-bars
For the back track stuff my camaro is really to heavy. To make it work well I would have to cut the car up and I really don't want to. I have had it 20 years and love that it is still a full street car.
