1. Form 2. Priming - difference between warmup & priming 3. Listen to your body - no pain no gain, isnt a thing - joint pain is super bad listen - don't go to your super max - it's a long game 4. Place health over performance / mobility over strength. - focus on health & mobility - healthy joints

No question. I was a machine in my 20s. 30 min five miles, 60 push-ups in a row, sparring guys 200 lbs plus, all I did was study and go to the gym. The life reaponsibility thing is a huge factor. I’m a professional illustrator now and I’m pulling late nights, making time for my wife, recording videos, and hunched over an easel. Art as a profession is brutal on the body from a longevity standpoint. A lot of guys will just drop dead over their drafting tables. I’m talking about contractors like sequential artists, book cover artists etc

I started my fitness journey at 40,, weight was 302#'s now at 51 , 216#'s. Also the journey inspired me so much I became a certified PT and now I own my own fitness studio in San Francisco! Not bragging just proud!

I have been following mind pump for last six months. I am 39 years old and been working out for almost a year and half (did not see any good results though). I must say when I listen to you guys it feels like that is exactly what your body wants to tell us just did know how to articulate it.

As I’ve got older I’ve come to analyse exercises for myself and clients as a risk /reward. Does the exercise give me more reward than risk and is there a safer better option e.g I’ve changed regular deadlifts for trap bar.

Mmm lots of “ Im 40 and I’m in the best shape of my life!” Lol speak for yourselves I’m 40, a lifelong martial artist, runner and been training off and on since middle school. Let me tell you I notice a STARK difference between my 20s and 40s. When I was in my 20s and even 30s I could look at a tub of icing and be shredded. That simply isn’t the case anymore. Im in good shape but I actually have to try now. Age definitely matters. I don’t really understand the hand waving away of age as a roadblock to fitness goals. Definitely a big difference in my body”s recovery time, healing ability, even my senses, smell etc.

As a CPT Myself I can honestly say these were all spot-on. I'm like Sal, majority of my clients who are over 40 did much better than my young ones in their 20s. Another reason - They are past the point of looking good for the 'gram'. They just want to feel better physically and move better for their own well-being , for their family , kids , spouse , etc. Well done , gents !

What I've noticed over 50 is i can't drink........at all. I can feel 1 glass of wine when i wake up, and also in my workout the next day. Brain fog, minor joint inflammation and pain, etc.

For me challenges arose in my late 40s. My early 40s were a lot like 30s. But it's individual when it happens.

I'm 40 and I feel and look the healthiest I've ever been. Starting a clean diet really took me to a new level. All whole foods. Nothing packaged or canned but I do use a clean, high end whey protein once a day.

As far as rest/sleep. My work schedule is crazy, every other night I get a full night sleep in my bed, the nights in between I sleep about 2 hrs then up for 30 mins to an hour then sleep for about 2 hrs at work in a camper, it does usually add up to bout 8-10 hrs. Should I be working out the day I get a full night sleep with no interruptions or does it really matter?

One more comment, I joined a new opening gym and the head trainer at the time said do these home exercises knowing I had slight impingement (he evaluated me) and poor posture. I knew doing those exercises would make my imbalance worse and after a month since home exercise don't exercise the back as much as the front (tons and tons of front and core) I basically was injured. Then when the gym opened I put myself back on balance and my new trainer is progressing me further basically on metabolic workouts, but I'm eager to lift lift.

Huge advantage: more money Also because we've tried it on our own for years so we're hiring you to do what we couldn't and so that makes us more patient because we understand it's not easily achievable otherwise we'd already be there.
