You must spend a small fortune on materials just to do tests and comparisons for us. We really appreciate your time and effort. We've learned soooo many great tips from yours (and other artists') videos, all for free. Much respect!
I feel the same way!!! She’s the best instructor!! I feel she’s right next to me in my art studio all the way in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷!! You’re the best Kanella!!! 🤗 thank you so much!!
Thank you so much! I have taken advice to watch lots of RU-vid videos to educate myself and although I get lots of great tips, it's always yours I come back to!!! Love how generous you are with yr time and knowledge! Love from Western Australia x x x
This was helpful. The first time I used a hairdryer I blew almost all the paint off canvas on to my wall. I’m standing there like the twilight one or something.i put a plastic tablecloth up on my wall after that. You jus have to practice-experiment to learn. It’s so fun. I love your work and Tammys’s and bunch of ithers
Thank you dear!! Got a new blow-dryer, and it's blowing all the paint off, making mud and sprayed my toaster and white curtains. Haha, glad you did this, cuz your thing melted! I need practice. Just wanted to thank you, was using cold. 😂🎵♥️🇺🇲✝️🙋
I’m Greek also! I am enjoying your videos! New to paint pouring with a couple of months under my belt. As the old Greek ladies used to say to me, you Koukla! ❤️
Hi. I am trying my first blow dryer painting. Waiting for Amazon to deliver my stuff. Thankyou so much for sharing your video. It was very helpful. I just hope I don’t blow the room away. I love how the colors worked together. The pictures are beautiful.
Amazing I can tell the blue painting was done with the hairdryer you are used to using. It turned out beautifully. They all turned out well. I think I like the green one the best. I definitely liked that combination of colors the best.
Thank you for the experiment. This video was so helpful. I started to do acrylic pour recently and had a hard time with hair dryer. The hair dryer I bought for Dutch pour was too powerful and could not control. Now I have been trying to get one with a weak power with a temperature setting (don't know why but I thought cool air is a must) and after I looked this video, I learned that the power and cold or hot air don't matter.
Thanks for this video. I'm struggling with this method but I keep trying. I think it's my paint consistency. I will keep trying. I'm determined to learn. I love this method.
I finally see what I was doing wrong. I haven’t seen this in any other video except for yours . You cover the lines up with white paint and then blow it out. Thanks
Yes, very helpful. Thank you. The first time I tried blowing with the dryer I also sprayed paint over the table, the chairs, the floor and the walls of my dining room 🤦♀️🙆♀️. I discovered acrylic paint is difficult to get off painted walls 😂
LOL. Me too! OMG! I was not prepared for using the blowdryer on paint for the first time. My walls were not happy. LOL. Never mind everything else. I had put out all this plastic protective layering pretty far out on the surface I was working on, but I had no clue that having no experience with the blow dryer and paint would result in the paint flying past the area I had protected. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wonderful!! Have to say ... it helps me when I see pros have issues - like melted hairdryer piece!! Helps me be less fearful of trying something new. (I’m a musician - used to teach my kids how to recover from mistakes .., and they loved when I made a mistake!) 👍👍
I had to go back and watch everything a couple of times and it didn’t seem to be a big difference in the distance Of the dryer but the position you were holding it. I have decided this is my problem but find I’m having a hard time just relaxing and allowing it to happen!! Thank you so so much for the experiment as it sure does demonstrate it’s the artist, the positioning, and just relaxing and allowing the dryer to do it’s job. Your work is amazing to say the very least!
I love your colour combinations! I'm new to pouring and this was a super helpful video, especially some of the tips on paint consistency and combinations. Thank you for the inspiration! :D
I’ve learned so much from your videos and I just found you yesterday. I’ve only been pouring for 2 weeks and have managed to finally do a couple of successful Dutch pours using your recipe and techniques. Kudos and thanks from your fellow Ontario peeps. 😁
The one I have the paint don’t really move! I mix them all the same as you and I’m thinking I need a new hair dryer. Your paintings are ALWAYS beautiful! Very well done.
You made my evening with this hairdryer test. Not so much the experiment itself which was interesting, but by listening to the amount of joy, you get from what you do🤗🤗🤗👏. All gorgeous colours.
Hello. Thank you, you certainly answer my inner question about temperature in hair dryer. Thank you for being so generous tutoring . Lovely pouring. Ivonne, from Costa Rica in Central America
OMG, you are an absolute riot! You are also a fantastic teacher. Love your work. I'm an artist, but have never done acrylic pours of any kind and am beginning it this week. I appreciate your efforts. :)
This is actually fantastic!! I always wanted to try this and now I know exactly how to pour the paint and how much in . I didn’t want to waste all my paint .
OMG, yes, give short Greek lessons while you paint! That would be so great! My honey is Greek but was born here and never was spoken to in Greek by his family members so he has no clue about Greek and yet he has family in Greece we would love to visit and they do not speak English. It would be amazing to learn a little Greek in a casual way so we can learn slowly. I don't do well trying to learn too much too fast as it just won't stick in my brain for whatever reason!
Thank you- I want to do a Dutch pour so much- angle/height from canvas/ heat setting/ speed of hair dryer- lot to know and practice- a great lesson and fun to watch- I love all 3. But middle my absolute favorite because of the colors-
I have become obsessed with trying different blow dryers and this is what I have found. As far as moving the paint around I agree that consistency of the paint is the key but the shape of your design is also impacted by aerodynamics, so motor power/performance/ watts, the neck (long/short, shape of grill inside), the concentrator nozzle and how you move the dryer also has an impact. When I test dryers, I just move them in a straight line to remain as consistent as possible in the movement. Motors - A more powerful motor can blow paint off the canvas even if you are not too close. I have an eGO1200 Watt (produces 1000 Watts in U.S.) that came with a rounder & wider concentrator and it can’t blow water much less paint but that same concentrator on my Conair 1600-Watt Infiniti Mini produces a very nice shape, much better than the narrower angled concentrator that it came with. I have 2 Conair 1875-Watt dryers, Salon Performance (orange) & Ceramic Tech Motor Pro (blk). The Salon Performance blows significantly less down the middle causing the shape to split in two at the end. When I looked down the nozzle, the inside grill is only split into 4 sections with a significant round obstruction in the middle causing the air to blow around it therefore spitting the shape in two. The Ceramic Tech’s grill is spit into 6 sections without the obstruction to split the shape, so I prefer this one. I too was also shocked at how weak your 1875 Watt sounded so I did some Googling. Apparently motor performance matters too, no matter what the Watts are. The motor on your 1875 Watt produces a weaker air flow that still allowed for good control of shaping. Most likely if you used a newer 1875 Watt in that same brand the motor performance would have improved over 10+ yrs. so you would have blown the paint off the canvas as you expected. Most of the newer models also have more narrow necks and concentrators so as to deliver a more powerful air flow for drying hair. Concentrators - I usually prefer one that is more rounded and curves inward instead of flaring out. When I move to really big canvases the flared concentrator possibly would work better. I really love the big canvases. I have a blank 36” x 48” hanging on my wall as inspiration but I’m not there yet. If you are new like me to fluid art, I suggest playing around with different hair dryers because as a tool it is important. At first, I was buying them online but now I mostly just stop at thrift stores when I happen to see one. I could go on and on but this is already too long. Do a little Googling on aerodynamics and that might help with understanding the dryer you are using. As a beginner I can only pray that the longer I work at it the better my paintings will be but I think I will run out of wall space before I produce a more Kanella or Rinske like painting.😂
If testing a dryer it seems like the same colors should be used. That would be taking a variable out of the equation. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the video. Thank you for being willing to give your time to teach 💜.
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been too scared to try my blow dryer yet. Very excited to try when I get home now. The middle one could have been the paint rather than the blow dryer.
Geia sou Canella !! I'so glad you speak greek as i am Greek .I love your art work and i am thinking to start sometime this incredible art.I' m watching you incessantly!!
Correct Kanella! The dryer doesnt matter. You dont need a blow dryer period! This technique has been blown by mouth only and has beautiful results. Bahahah a Tammy Anderson Moment bahaha
I used to use a generic blowdryer with a toilet paper roll that i made into a concentrator... The dryer has nothing to do with it. Im so glad you did this!
AWESOME STUFF...LOVE THE COLORS.. TRY TILTING THEM JUST A BIT .WILL STRETCH THE CELLS AND MOVE THE COMPOSITION DOWN A WEE BIT WITH THE STRETCH ...JUST GORGEOUS THOOO. LOVE THEM..🥰
