That engine/gearbox seems the perfect size for this frame - and performs superbly! I am impressed with your neat wiring and the cleanliness of it all. Loved the Electronic ignition and sweet pur of the engine

I'd flip that intake so the carb faces towards the front for a cooler air charge and some force induction then,jet it,gear down a few teeth on the spur and convert it to a foot-shift..holding the shifter midway will disengage the clutch while still keeping it in gear,which in turn will make some good launches..cool vid btw.

Victor Barajas Hello Victor I used to install horizontal shaft engines on all my toys but now that I've tried this engine I think I'll be using them for my future projects. I just wish that two stroke engines were cheaper but sadly they are out of my price range. Besides, I specialize in cheap projects, therefore it would be an overkill to make something worth over $1K.
gusduran11 No sir, I bought wiring harness and carb for it. Carb was $18 on eBay and wiring was $70 but recently I found cheaper wiring on Amazon for $36. All in all, this engine is solid and so far runs great.

I made a custom shifter linkage for mine but im haven an issue with the shifter rod Flexing a small bit when i shift forward or back for the gears , gonna add another bar beside it and weld it to strengthen it up some hopefully it works

Pawetsu You are absolutely right but it should at least be pushing 30 to 40 miles per hour. My kid got similar fully automatic engine on his pit bike and it goes 40. In retrospect it all worked out for the better because we swapped for semi-auto with kick start and reverse.
corbin hart This particular engine didn’t come with carburetor or header pipe but I’ve seen other ads on eBay where carb and wiring loom was already included with the motor. Usually these 125cc motors are sold by themselves. Good luck.

Peregrine Bierlein To be honest with you, when I installed it carb ran fine without any issues. The only thing I adjusted was the idle screw. Its kinda odd but my carb runs in choke position as well as in idle position about the same. Peregrine Bierlein Yes but once engine warms up I run it normally. If you live in cold weather or high altitude it might be a factor. Also type of fuel might be another issue. Take it apart and see if your jet is clogged. Sometimes by taking it apart and cleaning it might fix it.
coopdad79 I just wanted something different and also wanted to find out how these "Lefan copy" engines would perform. The one I got comes with reverse and 3 gears forward so it's slower than other engines that come with 4 gears forward. On the overall it's not bad but can be much better with racing CDI and top of the line carb.
Old Dog Wiring harness should be easy to install because it's all plug and play connectors. My wiring loom was purchased on eBay but Amazon also carry it. rumor has it that they are reverse engineered from Honda engines and could be just as good or even better than their predecessor. Some day i will get one for my future builds just to see how bullet proof they really are. Cheers
The 125cc Lifan engine I put on my Honda XR70 starts easier and I have less problem with gummed up Carbs than my Honda engines. Check it out on my Channel. I bought it in '14 for only $209 on Amazon and it had everything you needed, included Carb (saved $50 on Shipping cuz the seller was close to me). They've more than double in price since then.
My man your engine is perfectly fine you just need to fabricate a shifter linkage and SHIFT IT OUT IF FIRST GEAR. THEY ARE CALLED automatic gearboxes because they have a design which does not require a clutch control..

Yes, the original carburetor sometimes doesn’t perform properly so I would suggest buying another one from Amazon or eBay. Mikuni carburetors are good quality replacement. Good luck.

you sure those fully automatic shift gears?? I have never seen I pit bike engine thats fully automatic that shift gears by itself.. all the ones I've rode, owned and have knowledge of are the one speed with an auto clutch then semi automatic 2, 3 or 4-speed then there are 3 and 4 spd manual clutch.

eley Movement I would not recommend getting this particular engine because it was 3 gears forward and 1 gear in reverse. The only reason why I purchased this engine is because of the electric start and kick start feature. Seller on Amazon only listed 10 engines and as soon as they were sold out he no longer offered anymore of there engines. I would suggest getting 4 gears forward engine that way you’ll go much faster. eBay and Amazon offers many of them. Good luck buddy.
A Kid and a Car Most of these parts can be found on eBay and Amazon just by typing 125cc engine. Unfortunately this particular motor is no longer available on Amazon 'cause the seller had only 5 available at the time of purchase. This engine wasn't good anyways cause it was defective. 3 gears forward and 1 gear in reverse. By the time I installed it and realized reverse doesn't work, it was too late to return it. So test your engine before warranty expires. Good luck.
That thing really goes did you know there is a cheap action camera like a go pro for super cheap like fifty bucks you should get a couple if then and put them on the cart and your sons helmet
I've tried to record while the go kart was moving but the video was shaky and almost unusable. helmet cam would be better because its not as shaky. Thats one of the cons of go pros-they don't have image stability control.
Theres a go pro app for that but i don't know how to use it. my go to app is iMovie where i edit my videos. Its just too much hassle and time consuming to edit shaky videos.

Back in the day these engines were cheaper but now they are more expensive and the quality is questionable. I’m pretty sure if you look around on other websites like EBay or maybe other cites, you’ll find these motors reasonably priced. Good luck.
always wanted to do this, should have gone 2 stroke man! nt like ur gonna drive it everyday mixing gas isnt that bad. way simpler and much more power per cc
rarbona 1029 I agree that two stroke VS four stroke is a better choice hands down but they are kinda pricey little engines. Our project was made to goof off in the hood and not meant for track racing. If I ever come across cheap 2stroke then I will definitely buy it. Thanks for your input.

PVC pipes would definitely be fun to drift but unsafe. Since rear axle got the brakes, its nearly impossible to stop the kart in some situations. Parking lots would be ideal place to drift. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching our video.

I guess these motors come with return policy so if anything happens within a certain time period you’ll be able to exchange it or get a full refund for defective unit. My advice is ride it like you stole it during warranty period and if it doesn’t break then it’s a keeper.

DJ RONY I thought that you might live near me in California but you’re on the east coast. I’m not sure if I can make you a mount without having your engine on hand. Motor mount bolt pattern can be different than my engine so there’s a possibility that holes won’t line up. I would of gladly made you a mount but with the distance between us I just do see how it would be a cheap option for you.

Bought this engine from eBay when it was cheaper. It’s a fully automatic with 3 gears forward and 1 gear in reverse. I think manual engine is better but will require more work installing clutch pedal and shifter linkage. Good luck with your project.
