I am so excited to watch them grow and can’t wait to see how live.y they look come that far away spring day 🤭. Have a lovely weekend Ms Peggy, stay safe
Hopefully they won't eat those bulbs Ali. Nice work controlling the front loader. Shocking the amount of rain everyone is having. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
Hi Ali, you're well organised with your bulbs, a pretty mix of daffs you've got 😍 it's really interesting to see the wildlife camera footage Take care, Maiju 😊💚🌿
Thank you Maiju I’m looking forward to seeing these new varieties. Ahh wildlife we never realized how much they were about 🤣 good reason for not slug hunting in the dark 👍
Hi Ali great bit of front loader work done by Gerald there looking grand , glad you protecting your bulbs hopefully you will have a super display in the spring .
Morning my lovlies I hope you are both well ♥️💙. He is good isn’t he and comes in handy when I don’t want to wheelbarrow 🤪. The tulips thanks to Elaine have even more Fort Knox like protection so fingers crossed 🤞. Have a fab week and stay safe, miss you both 💞
Looking good Ali 😎 We've collected 4 dumpy bags of leaves so far and they haven't even finished changing colour 😬Good critters 😎 Hope you have a lovely weekend 😊😊🪴🪴
Most of our trees still haven’t dropped their leaves 🤦♀️ but then most of the flowers still haven’t died back. It’s supposed to rain for a week but hopefully not as much. Have a fab day Ziggy and happy gardening
I am quite happy they held out and didn’t get bugged this year. And a nice cabbage 🥬 style head makes a fab dinner. Hope your well Stella and getting some garden time 💖
I'm positively drooling over those daffodils. We're going to buy a load of tall yellow ones to put in the new flower border. Have a good weekend and try to take it easy. Xx❤
After last year’s fiasco with things eating or digging up my tulips 🌷 I discovered the beauty of daffodils so I went all out (of course 🤣 and there’s more coming). Hope you dance was nice last night and your back held out for the twist 🤭
Wow Ali.. Gerald is as handy as Duncan for making some of those jobs a bit easier isn’t he? Great work with the gravel. Such heavy rain.. can’t help but think at least it’s not snowing! You are so, so organised with all of those bulbs. I’m still waiting to get my summer plants out, so I can’t my bulbs in. I need to do something about that soon. All that trail cam footage! You really do have all the wildlife. I can’t help but have a fondness for raccoons. I know they must be a nuisance but they always just look like mischievous teens. Hope you have a great week. Thanks for sharing your garden with us x
He does like any excuse to play with the tractor 🚜 but certainly better than a wheelbarrow. It hopefully won’t snow til late Dec or Jan but never say never right. I have beds full of summer flowers that haven’t died back yet so bulbs will have to wait. And yes raccoons 🦝 are fun to watch but also can be vicious to dogs etc. my daughters neighborhood is ripped up lawns as they look for chafer beetles 🪲. Oh well that’s country life 🤣🤣
@@myrustygarden Yes, I am feeling much better thanks!!, covid is bad Normally get's me for two weeks , Its ok not something I wanted to work outside with, best to stay home , much better now thanks 🙏 Not had time to get to the allotment will need to get all the spuds dug up, I have put it on the back burner for now. Have a great weekend You are doing well! Living the dream, It s great to see the veg garden progress and you have some footage to look back on!
Hi Ali,crickey you have been busy ,I still have loads to do ,but I’m feeling a bit lazy this week, must be the change in weather 😂😂 I enjoyed the trail cam critters 👍👍🇬🇧🎃
I am putting my feet up for a day or two as I’ve done in my back again 🤦♀️ I have to remember I’m not 50 anymore 🤣🤣. Critters are awesome but I’ll give them a wide berth 👍
Hello Ali ❤. Haven't stopped by for ages. Wow, look at all your subscribers, congratulations 🎉. Well deserved for one of the loveliest gardeners on RU-vid. Best wishes and a hug from the North of England ❤
Thank you so much 🤗 Denise it’s lovely to hear from you. I hope you are well and getting some time to play in your garden. Looking forward to seeing your updates when you are ready 💖💖
Hi Ali. You've made great progress with your enclosure. Precision work from Gerald 👍 The cages you put over your bulbs, I think the squirrels will get in. Better watch out what you see on your night cam (especially this close to Halloween lol 👻 👽 🤡 🎈) 😉 😆 Have a peaceful week Elaine 🦉🐿🕸🕷
Thanks for the tips Elaine I have added extra defences on the tulips 🙏. I can definitely not see myself doing any night time slug hunting 🤪 I’ll leave the back to them after dark. It is cool but rain is on and off so jobs to do 💪. Have a fab week and stay warm 💜
@@myrustygarden we are still getting t-shirt weather, and it's going to be like that for the next 15 days at least,, we haven't had a frost yet, that's why I moved here..🤗🤭🐄🐄🐄
Hi Ali, yep we have reached the boring time of year, well i have, at the moment i have yet to put my Onions🧅in and the other day my Garlic🧄arrived, the problem i have are bloody squirrels🐿and at the moment they are getting passed the defences🚧and digging flippin' holes🕳😠so until that is sorted i'm stuck and my saving grace at the moment for some thinking time🤔is heavy rain🌧along with stormy⛈weather. TC. Barry (UK)
Totally agree Barry it’s the time to try and find things to video 🤣 but I normally don’t do a lot of “winter” gardening. The beds are the main JB manuring and clearing and bulbs. Our squirrels are quite elusive all summer with one here and there but holy cow come fall they are everywhere. I have put more tulip defences out as they don’t normally bother with the daffodils 🤞. I also try pepper and chilli powder but 🤣🤣 don’t get it on your face. Our storms seem to come more in November but this last one was a doozy we (not near us luckily) had lots of flooding and landslides. Ain’t nature grand 🤷♀️, have an awesome week keep dry and warm, and thanks for always stopping by 👍
Thank you Eleanor it’s been quite cold and wet but we try to get this done in between 😅. They are quite interesting to watch as we never realized until we put out the camera how many there are 😱
I’m shocked by how many trees still have green leaves Heidi, by now they are normally all done 🍁🍂🍃. Yes until we put out the camera we had only ever seen one 🦝 raccoon. We knew coyotes were in the area as we hear them howling but hadn’t seen one in our yard. I’m more than happy to leave the dark to them 🤣🤣🤣
Loved your horse impression Ali, you should do that more often 😂 Your seedlings in the greenhouse/polytunnel look great. I had visions of Gerald bringing your old brassica frame down with that tipper! Veggie pods look great in there though. Take care 😊
🐎 an old nag 🤣. I followed your example and put the chard seedlings out in one of the vegepods in the cage. Hopefully they are big enough before any snow comes. I know right he can’t see around the bucket in it and I almost thought I’d have to take off the frame 🤦♀️.
Good luck in the onion grow off. Can't wait to do the Kelsae's you sent me. Frosty night temps now but warm days here. Been dug in on herb preserving. That gravel floor is great...man a track sure comes in handy at times.
You could do a few Kelsea and join in 🤣 we need all the help we can get across the pond here. It is extremely cold and foggy here at night but in between high winds and rain the sunny days are lovely. Don’t have a huge piece of land but I have to say I don’t know what we would do without our tractor 🚜. Happy herbing 🤭 stay warm 💖
Hi Ali the cage is looking great and the tractor come in handy. We have had a little but of rain but it's been mostly dry thankfully. I might go to the plot today or tomorrow just to check things over. Your packs of bulbs look so pretty. I do the spring Hanging Baskets and iv left them from last year so I'm going t see how they do when they come bk. Great trail cam footage ❤
I’m happy with the cage and hopefully it works as well in real life as it did in my head 🤣🤣. It’s due more pouring rain ☔️ today and high winds 🤦♀️, but that’s winter. Oh your baskets were awesome some hope they come back as good or better. Gerald says at least there’s no bear 🤣🤣
@myrustygarden o gosh could you imagine lol 😆 I have rabbits and fox for sure on my plot and deer. Today we seen a sparrow hawk and a magpie and jackdaw dive bombed it and it was on the ground with its wings span open. We didn't know what had happened really .... We stopped the van to take a look as jt was in the neighbours field and we startled the sparrow hawk and a pidgin flew away so we saved it unknowingly 🤣🤣
“Mystery brassicas” 😂😂 - I end up with some of these most years (terrible at labelling). We have just purchased a brand new smallholding in Lincolnshire and have started a channel to chart our journey so it’s fab to watch someone much further down the line than we are! ❤❤
Oh wow fantastic I’ve gone over and subbed 👍. There are some amazing people out there doing small holdings and I can recommend for sure if you don’t watch Tracy and Steven to head over to their channel Our Smallholding Adventure. Oh to be younger and know how much joy the land brings 🤭 but we do like our garden. Thank you so much for your kind words and support. I’ll pop your channel name in the next video 👍
Ali You and your husband are getting it done in your garden. I have critter in my yard at night too. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day my friend 😊
Gerald is quite the builder and we love having the critter cameras set up for fun, it's a great way to see what's going on 🤣🤣 but I’ll leave the night time garden to them 👍
@@myrustygarden I do the same thing Ali. During the day is my time. Night time is theirs. Yes Gerald does a fantastic job. Tell him I said so. Have a wonderful day my friend
Hi Ali, I was thinking of you as I planted out some tulips yesterday, I found myself wondering if they would survive or all get eaten😮😅. I loved the snuffling raccoon at the end😂❤
I try to cover them with a mesh or something but I don’t have many tulips left in the squirrel restaurant 🤣. I’m hopeful that the daffodils do ok in pots near the house as well as the beds. Just have to wait for the summer flowers to die back more. Yes they are quite funny but luckily nocturnal and not around while we are outside as they can be vicious 😱
For autumn 🍂 the garden is looking really good. You both certainly look very busy. Was that a coyote in the trail cam? The only critters we've had in the village this week were a couple of robbers who broke into the grocery shop. Luckily, they didn't get much as they were scared off. If I'd disturbed them, they would have got both barrels of my shotgun full of bird shot. Happy 😊 gardening, take care, and stay safe, Colin UK 🇬🇧.
Thank you Colin I hope you’re feeling better today. We are on a break 🤣 while the heavens open up yet again, I don’t mind the rains as much as the high winds at night. Yes we hear coyotes all the time but this is the first time we’ve seen them. A good reason not to be out in the dark I’d say 😱.
Plenty of work done, still more to be done but rain puts it on hold, i know that feeling very well Ali. Those sprouts are looking good. Those veggie pods are looking very nice now that they are in place and filled, ready to be sown in to. I`ve just collected loads of rubbish bags full of leaves the other day, hopefully they well rot down just like yours in that dalek bin. Great video Ali 🥰
Thank you Jimmy appreciate the encouragement and kind words. I’ve started my onion video yesterday but was warming up the soil before doing the rest 👍👍. It’s stopped raining for now but will be back with a vengeance later today 🤦♀️
@@myrustygarden Just made my Giant onion sowing video, 4 different varietys of giant onion, 4 will be under heat and light, the other will be in a cold greenhouse the entire time 😉will be editing it later on and uploading it tonight 🥰
@@myrustygarden Ailsae, Kelsae ( from you ) Ailsa Craig and John Soulsby seeds under light and heat and i am doing Ailsae without heat or grow lights, Petes growing challenge is in 2 parts, grow lights and heat and No grow lights and heat for people who dont have grow lights or heat mats. Its quite cold here, it wont be as cold as where you are 🥶🥶 🥰
We all seem to be getting loads of rain this year, just won't stop in the UK atm. I think I am glad we don't get Racoons as they are supposed to be lil gits.
It has stopped for a bit but will be back later today ☔️. They are very handsome animals but can be very vicious and destructive. So they can have the night yard 🤣🤣 plus I read they may even eat slugs 👍👍
Hey Ali Hope you are both well? That shed looks really good with the gravel. Hope the rain drained away ok? Nice selection of bulbs there. We still need to plant ours out. Hope your back is feeling better? Are coyotes aggressive to humans or do they just run away? I see why you have a high fence. Lots of wildlife there and not just deer's. I'm not sure if I mentioned but I got some nematodes for the fungus gnats and thankfully (and fingers crossed) it seems to be working. Yay! We ended up buy some savoy cabbage and calabrese broccoli starts as that is what I could find and we only have 6 tundra and 1 savoy that made it to planting. We went to a new garden centre on Thursday that is hidden away a lot bigger than from the front. It would be right your street as they had a large selection of ornaments there. Hope the weather is good for you this week! Take care.
We are doing good thank you Tracy. Rains have drained they usually do fairly quickly thank goodness. I had so many tulips eaten by squirrels 🐿️ last year that I have basically given up 🤣 so gorgeous daffodils it is, I have apparently lots more coming I forgot I’d ordered 🤦♀️. Yes coyotes can be very aggressive, in the huge park downtown called Stanley Park they were ambushing people and biting them, so they had to trap and euthanize them 😢. It’s one reason the dog is never allowed out on her own and we don’t go out after dark. Awesome news about the fungus gnats 👍👍. I buy starts too no worries about them germinating etc and I don’t need 300 cabbage 🤣 six will do nicely thank you. Have a marvellous week ahead and stay safe 💖💖
@@myrustygarden Glad to hear you are both well. Yes i have noticed digging in the hanging baskets again. Not sure what is it though. Before it was squirels but we haven't seen any. We have had a rat come in through the fence, where i can see it has rotted/eaten away. I need to remember to make a note of the bulbs we are planting as i am so forgetful nowadays but we do have some frizzy looking tulips to plant out amongst the bunch. Going to need a big fat drill bit to make holes for some in the bed we haven't really touched with perennials in. It gets leaf mulch and fertiliser but not much new compost yet, so the clay soil is kinda hard to get through by hand. Yes we are starting fresh too but it was a mix and match offer so picked a few. I love alliums so we have purple sensation, some other same purple ones and some blue ones. I think renuculus as well? OMG that sounds awful! Do you you get bears as well? I like wildlife but not angry animals. lol Probably butchering the name but would like to make kimchi? We also like pickled and was thinking about making sauerkraut. I love boiling it in apple juice and making a Polish coleslaw recipe i saw on YT. Our child loves red cabbage and it makes me think of Christmas. I just hope they grow in time. I think the fungus gnat larve was playing havoc in germination. Now we have new frames and beds up we can plant more in autumn so no messing about. Lawn was so muddy today though. Definitely need to see if we can get a broad fork on market place or see if we can borrow one. The old landscaped mound looks a lot more level but there is still cracks and sinkage from where the old trees that fell down, when we moved in. Hubby loves his lawn but i said to him it needs to be done and will look worse before it looks much better. Have a good one too
@@AnyKeyLady I find squirrels do most of the digging as rats normally just eat the veg on top of the beds. I often use the bulb planter and stab other bulbs underneath I forgot were there 🤣🤣. My summer flowers are still not dead enough to put bulbs in either but hopefully soon. Yes I’m not growing m h in winter due to the extreme weather but I had these from summer 👍. We have had bears 🐻 in the vicinity but not really close to our house p, thank goodness. The occasional deer 🦌 and of course the raccoon 🦝 family and coyotes, Have a super week hope it’s calm and quiet 👍👍🥰
