I had to post, once more, Andy, I do not think I have ever seen such a Pround Smile on your face, than when you were standing at the wheel sailing your own boat.
Dear Melissa, Andy and Jack I was so pleased to see you finally having a sail the joy was all over your face wonderful to watch even i was moved well done me and my wife came over to say hello when steel melody was at anglesey all the best for the future Blessings Mike and Carol
Your enthusiasm is contagious and your work ethic puts me to shame... Looking forward to seeing what you do with her. 13 sails is quite a selection ! She is a lovely looking vessel and you'll have envious looks whenever you put into harbour....good luck
Was looking forward to seeing you on the water. Great stuff. Congratulations! Real adventures ahead. Stay free - where ever you are. Best regards from Germany.
Can easily see the pride and happiness just oozing out of the pores. It’s obvious all is good in your world. I’m so happy for you all to have a small taste of your dreams and your family’s future. A huge boost for you all, well done. Can’t wait to see the provisioning and last minute fuel and water top ups.
Definitely a Victory lap that one guys! Couldn't have done it in a more beautiful setting either. Noss Mayo or 'Mathew's Nose' was the atmospheric base for doing my Skipper's ticket 25 years ago so watching you glide in and out of the Yealm through that historic smugglers haunt was pretty magical for me too. Much thanks! Bless ol Melody (the family tank) but... Ocean Melody is quite simply the archetypal 'dreamboat' classic racing and ocean going yacht that you could never have expected in your wildest dreams when you guys started this unique 'welding job' journey of yours! I couldn't be any happier for you either. It really has been remarkable watching you 3 putting in so much hard work and dedication to come out the other end with exactly what you so clearly all deserve... a yacht that will take all 4 of you around the world in style, grace and speed! Crack on Team Ocean Melody! 'The World is Your Oyster!' 😉
Congratulations on your first cruise. $ knots of boat speed and 5 knots of wind. Amazing. I love the Ketch rig. 47 years ago I purchased my New Challenger 35 Ketch. My wife and two boys 7 and 11 started living aboard "Challenger on April 1st and put her up for the winter on November 1st sailing to Lake Ontario, New York, and Canada. we did this every year until moving to Florida in 1994 when I sold her. Much good luck and enjoy your magnificent Ketch. How nice a center cockpit.
I have been following your channel for a little while, and heard and seen you talking about living on a boat, sailing the world. Always been a bit skeptical about if this kind of life would suit this family, but as I did see the joy in all your eyes, just having this short sail on your own boat, I am not in doubt any more. This family belongs at sea. Good luck with everything and I will of course be following you as far, as you let us viewers follow along on your journey. Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives, it is very inspiring.
Beautiful boat Beautiful people Beautiful day Beautiful scenery Thanks guys for this video. I’m genuinely happy for you! Smiling with you 😀 love Noni down under x
Andy your smile is contagious, it’s so nice to see you out with the sails up. You all look so excited and happy. Thanks for sharing your maiden voyage ⛵️⛵️⛵️👍👍🥰🥰
Congratulations!! It’s great to see everyone happy and out sailing!!! Your goal was to sail and she’s a wonderful sailboat with some beautiful lines!! Well done Fair winds ⛵️
Congratulations, there's nothing like sailing your own boat, and for the first time, and with such exciting prospects becoming more and more real as you progress... Savour the joy. We have had eberspachers for years, service them every couple of decades and they are (well, ours have been) rock solid. I do recommend the 'blown air' over 'wet' systems for comfort, safety and maintenance reasons, even if it does require a little more electricity! They can be a little noisy so mount it carefully with plenty vibration deadening on any mounting bolts or screws. Probably best mounted in the 'engine room' if possible. Sorry for the delay in offering our experience but, we have been in a 'posh' hotel for the weekend celebrating 47 years of boat ownership. Oh! and 50 happy years of marriage - and have also agreed the date for our return to our boat, next month. p.s. Don't 'over do it' at the moment, take care of Melissa and the prospective new crew member.
Melody looks awesome So exciting first sea trials ehh Andy I know nowt about sailing And all your sail talk is gibberish to me But really I find it fascinating, maybe there is mariner blood in my family 🤪 You must all be so proud ATB to you and family Andy x 👊👍🐾🐶🦋😘
Congratulations!!!!, and many thanks to share with us this amaizing moment., This is one of this moments on your life that will remain in your heart as one of the most beautiful familly memories. My best wishes, good wind and good sea. ⛵
How awesome to see you all on the water and the joy it brought. Congratulations on the new baby on the way. Enjoy your channel and especially the Jack Cam episodes. So happy for you all
That was a great day for a first run. I think everyone's happy for you, happy to see your happy faces! That's definitely the start of "something else" in your lives. Congratulations.
WOW, what a beautiful yacht, she looks even bigger now she’s in the water. I hadn’t taken onboard your previous videos that she had two masts and could fly 3 sales at once, just makes her look majestic. From the other boating bloggers your speed to wind ratio is also fantastic. If she can’t get you round the world nothing will. Really looking fwd to seeing the real adventures start. Take care folks!
Just wow, so jealous ;-) perfect ship it is .. and the best weather to go for a small test run, sunny and a bit of wind. Loved the smile on your face :-) Difficult not to just sail away and forget about everything I think. Congrats on the first sail test run.
Congratulations once again, to the happiest man on earth. Melissa, and Sir Jack make it all possible. Bundle up and stay warm. I appreciate your videos and adventures more and more. Best wishes.
Take a look at the log burner and installation @sailing cadoha. Along with a diesel heater. Good option for the main cabin and saves gas as can cook and boil water.
Congrats guys. I’d recommend a Webasto diesel heater. Easy to fit, Cheap to run and very reliable. I’ve used them for years as a lorry driver living in the cab for long periods. I’ve never had one in a truck that let me down.
Great to see you on the water. If you were planning to be in cold climates for a lot of the time, I would suggest a hydronic heating system. They make very nice heat and only require the running of 3/4" hoses rather than 3" ducts. I have a system on my Catalina 30 that is based on an Espar 5000W hydronic boiler and three fan coils that give me thermostatic zoned heating plus domestic hot water. It is great in the chilly Pacific Northwest. One other upgrade that you are probably already working on is to install a below deck autopilot. I see that Ocean Melody has an Raymarine wheel pilot and they just are not up the rigors of 24/7 offshore work.
The Dart is one of the most beautiful sailing places in the UK. I'll never forget the first time there, coming round the last bend in what looks like a typical English river valley... then seeing the Channel and open water emerge on the bow.
Thanks for sharing. That harbor is beautiful. The boat looks great! Andy, agree the main looks worn and past it’s normal life span. That would be the first sail to replace in my opinion. A bit disappointed Captain Jack was so quiet. I would have expected him to be barking orders and ordering Keel Hauling of the lazy crew! Sail on Sailors!
What a lovely first sail so pleased for you all looking forward to seeing this years smartening up of the inside wood as it looks and oozes quality as well , I don’t often ask a question but if I may is your boat fully insured now it’s yours often wondered how that all works anyway Mellisa your looking very well 👌 best wishes to you all 😊
😊👍🏼😊👍🏼😊👍🏼 Really beautiful boat! Happy that you all are getting out there! I really felt the "it's our first sail, let's go somewhere..."! Hopefully in the next year, I'll be having to talk myself out of it too! Take good care! Cheers from Guam! 🇬🇺
Andy the smile on your face says it all 👍👍❤️❤️ What a magnificent boat. I am so happy for you all and this , even if you don’t know it, is encouraging all of us sailors to get our act together and get out on the water. Thank you so so much for sharing this wonderful experience with us 👍👍🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Wonderful boat wonderful sail, you should be a happy man. Great video keep them coming. looking forward to seeing you sail back to Wales love to all Cliff
I don’t know most of the words you use in this episode 😂, Sailing terminology isn’t part of my repertoire … Your faces translate it all, pure happiness 😁
