Are the semicircular canals filled to capacity with fluid, or only partially filled allowing the fluid to "slosh" around? The way you are describing it, which is somewhat different from the last video I watched, it sounds as if the fluid remains stationary, or lags behind, while the canal structure itself moves. If the canal were filled to capacity, one would expect the fluid to remain stationary while the structure moves. But if the canal is only partially filled, one would expect a lot of sloshing around and erratic movement of the fluid. One other thing, you mention a "paring" of the semicircular canal mechanisms of either ear. It is understandable that one side works in opposite phase to the other. But is this "paring," which could be likened to two different points of view about what's going on, useful in helping the brain to decide what to do in terms of adjusting to the change in body or head position?
