my experience with this android install video retention harness is APVTY03 and i got mine on ebay. otherwise you can ask JD here boun-t4x4.com.au/products/hea...
Thanks, mate. I do recommend them. I have had mine on for about 2 years now, and i have no complaints, really. I did install a switch in the glove box that cuts power to the red "constant" power source for those times you need to reset the device. There are differences between these android units for the Kakadu and GXL models so make sure your supplier knows what model you have. Most will ask for a picture of your standard media system to confirm they are sending you the right one. Otherwise, good luck with it mate
Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! AU$1,045.19 29%OFF | Android 11 For TOYOTA Land Cruiser Prado 150 2010 2011-2013 Car Multimedia Auto Audio Stereo Player Recorder Tesla Radio GPS a.aliexpress.com/_mPxKAqi
Great video Dave - I was sitting on the fence about upgrading my infoSystem. I have Prado 2012 altitude model heard might have some compatibility issues with altitude model.
Hi mate, the seller i dealt with, asked me to send a photo of my standard dash to confirm compatibility, which i found reassuring. I suggest doing that but I'm sure you'll be able to find one that works with your model bud
I have had the EC offroad version of the same installed in my 2013 Prado Altitude. The radio seems to cut out from time to time and the reversing camera works sometime and not others. With your installation experience, do you think this is a wiring issue or the unit itself? Also the steering wheel button to move tracks along or go back when listening to music is back to front. Would this have been plugged in incorrectly or just maybe because its foreign? Many thanks
Just ordered mine on your recommendation, for a 2012 gx. So no factory reverse cam or sensors or steering wheel controls. Will definitely add all those.
Ive been loving mine mate. I have found that you can turn the screen off at night by swiping down and selecting a quick button. Be aware though you must wake the screen up, by tapping it, before turning off the car or it will wake up frozen the next time. Easy once you know about it.
@@Will3zr4 there is a panel at the bottom for the AC. The unit plugs directly into the factory ac woring. A tap on the panel reviels a number of advanced settings. It performs as factory
Hi Dave, sorry to bothering you. I know I need to buy a video retention harness. Is there something else I need to buy, apart of the 13.6” head unit. Thanks Dave.
All good bud. Mine came with everything but i had to hide my original reverse camera screen behind this one as i used it as a video retention harness. I believe there is a harness that would neaten this up but i was happy with this, free, option as it is not seen anyway
Hey mate just installed mine everythings been plugged in that can be and works amazing only issue I’m having is getting the physical buttons to work (Hazard, AC etc). How did you hook these up? Do you need another harness of some kind?
Hi mate, i never had an issue but it may be just a settings issue. I'd each out to the seller and see if there is some 'advanced' settings you can check to confirm it's set up for your model
Hi Dave, Great job mate. Really appreciate for your video my friend. Mate, I have realised you have change your instrument cluster as well if I am not wrong. Could you please tell me mate. Which one you have installed and how is performing. Thanks in advance mate.
Thanks mate, i have indeed. It's an adroid unit from Aliexpress. Unfortunately the only come to suit left hand drive vehicles so i had to do some modifications and a minor wiring change. I'll try to put up a video soon for you.
How did you get the actual surrounding plastics? I have found the screen all ok, but not the actual plastic moulding.. any help with this? Great vid! Cheers
I havent seen that capacity but i used an android dashboard so it displays there for me. You could use the torque app and an OBD2 adapter to display that info and more 🤷♂️
Oh i had to hide the original small screen that has that data behind this unit so its still there, just not visible. Maybe you could mount in the glovebox?
Oh i will add that i had to hide the small original screen behind the unit as it was required to adapt the camera. I believe you can get a different cable so that you dont have to do this, but it was just easy for me to hide it behind than to research which adapter cable
Thanks again, i have new unit exactly like you and Original display(small) also like your prado with Temperatur so on.I got a Problem with reverse camera. Factory camera is with 6 Volt.do i need special harness? Have a nice day
Yes mate. I installed it into my 2011 GXL. Just needed to tuck the original small screen in behind the unit so that i could adapter the reverse camera. Very simple installation
@BeeSolomona no worries, i use it wirelessly. I initially had issues with it and got a carlinkit kit to plug in as an adapter, then later found that the issues were due to my settings so nothing wrong with the unit. I believe wired works too i have only used wireless
Hi mate. No lag though i have had to reset it about 2 times. I put in a switch in the glove box going to the main power wire to make this process simple. Just like a tablet, sometimes they benefit from a restart so the switch has been great for that. I have a manual too and no issues there at all. Still very happy with this unit
I was so in doubt about this system till i came across your video. I am going to get myself one of these for my 2011 Prado. Are you Brisbane based? would love to see the head unit in action. Cheers. Jerry.
My recommendation, after over a year of use, is to put in a kill switch in the glovebox that cuts the main power. This will enable you to easily reset the device easily if you have any issues. I did this and have used it twice, mostly due to me stuffing around with it, but it's good to have. Im in Toowoomba
The supplier i bought from did a range of units for a variety of models. They even got me to send a pic of my dash to confirm i had given them the right info. A VX model wouldn't definitely be available.
Hi Mate, thank you. Aa far as i know the difference is really only that the GX didnt have the rear camera screen but otherwise was wired the same. In saying that, the seller i purchased this unit off, asked me to send a pic of my dash so they could ensure they sent me the right model anyway. Sure if you send a pic to them and ask, they will sort you out
@@davejhanssens hi mate, yes that makes sense to me ...pictures worth a thousand words as they say. How's the units performance now, must be nearly a year by now? I noticed a local Co. (EC off road) had their own version of a Tesla unit for around the same price. Wondering had you checked around locally? Cheers.
Hi mate, yeah still going strong and reliable. I can't remember if i talk about it in this video but i discovered that you can turn the screen completely blank but still have it working. It's great for night time driving but i have to remember to tap the screen awake before i turn the car off, or it wakes up frozen the next time i start the car. I put a kill switch in the glove box for the unit so that i can reset it if i ever forget to wake it back up
Hi mate. There is the link to the add AU $1,011.39 30%OFF | Android 11 For TOYOTA Land Cruiser Prado 150 2010 2011-2013 Car Multimedia Auto Audio Stereo Player Recorder Tesla Radio GPS a.aliexpress.com/_mrJ6RUU Though b-ount4x4 now stock these if you want to buy within Oz
Hi mate, it all depends on which software it's operating. You are best asking the seller you purchased from as there version of software may have differences to mine. That being said you could try the advanced settings and see if there is anything in there. Default passcodes on the most of these units are 7890, or 1234
Hi mate. Still going strong. I have only had a couple of time where I have needed to reset it fully. To make that easier, I put a switch in the glove box that isolated the main power to the unit.
There are a few different options depending on your model. Theres even difference between GX, GXL and Kakadu models e.c.t. best bet is to take a picture of your cars current setup and ask the seller you want to buy from
thanks. so the reverse camera was the only thing that was hard to wire up? can you stream netflix and things on it while driving if you hotspot your phone?@@davejhanssens
Thanks mate. Although Boun-t did stock them, i originally got mine from Aliexpress and found a seller with good feedback. You might be better there if you cant get hold of boun-t here
It is generally but there are some settings that are changed i believe. Most sellers will confirm which model so they can make sure they send you one that is ready to go for your car and will often ask for a picture of your existing dash to confirm
Hey mate just installed mine everythings been plugged in that can be and works amazing only issue I’m having is getting the physical buttons to work (Hazard, AC etc). How did you hook these up? Do you need another harness of some kind?
Hey bud. I never had an issue but it might be worth checking with the seller to see if there is some 'advance' setting you can check are set to the right model.
