a Caucasian chick at work jokingly said to me "oh, you wearing your white girl hair today!" Referring to my natural hair being straightened. I gently told her that my hair is "black" every day whether it's twisted or straightened and to keep her foolish comments to herself. So, yes, this video is very necessary.
Brittany Alexander yea you just have to pull it because it scrunches up. You have to stretch it to actually see it's full length. I'm half black half white and I have extremely curly hair and it's gorgeous but I just get upset because it's up to my shoulders but if I stretch it out it's actually longer or when I straighten it lol.
My supervisor asked me if black hair breaks off when it grows so that's why it can't grow longer..... I had to stop myself from saying something smart or I would've gotten fired that day 😒
She's not wrong. African hair is more brittle than European and Asian hair. That's why it appears that African hair grows shorter than other hair types despite growing at the same rate. Because your hair is more brittle and therefore more vulnerable to breakage.
I'm Puerto Rican and I have very curly hair and I hate when these white kids just touch my hair, WITHOUT EVEN ASKING. And then they always ask if it's real I'm just like YES...YES IT IS REAL!!! And then like a week later at school the same person always ask if it's real LIKE EVERY WEEK 😣😒😤😬
I'm a 16 year old black boy and people always tell me that my shoulder blades length curly hair is fake. Like shit no its not. And then they'll touch all over my hair to see if I'm lying, and then dismiss me as a whole when they find its real. It really pisses me off.
Same here, I get so sick n tired of that question especially when it comes from nonblack people, like all yall do is talk shit about black women for wearing weave wtf u wanna know if its my real hair n how did I get it to grow out long.
I remember one time in school someone asked me why I don't let my hair down. I said, "Well, why do you always have your hair down?" They said, " Because I want to and it's my hair" I said, "Exactly"
Angel Hardman i hate that too because my hair is down to like my mid-back so they be like is it real like BISH JUST BECAUSE IT'S LONG DOESN'T MEAN IT'S WEAVE TRUST ME IF IT WAS WEAVE YOU WOULD NOTICE AND I WOULD MAKE IT LONGER FOR YOUR INFORMATION BUT I LOVE MY HAIR TOO MUCH TO DO THAT and i would slap the living daylights out the person who pulled my hair
To all those white people saying "i dont think this about black hair" just remember, just because you dont think this about black hair, doesn't mean that other people dont. (at my old school, people made fun of my hair all the time) Also this video should apply to all people without african/ african american hair types, not just "white people"
Sophia Monperrus the word "some" honestly doesn't make that much of a difference as matter of fact white people want to use the word some to separate themselves from the issue.
ReD BLaZe please stop using that word, do you even know the meaning of it and how it was used for slavery. You better hide before my family come and beat your ass.You rasict piece of shit.
My hair is weird. One minute it will be nice and strait but then another minute it will be curly of frizzy. I don’t really use heat on my hair that often. My hair usually is wavy. I hate my hair.
it's funny cause I'm in college and this white girl I'm my class asked me if my hair was a weave I said no then I asked her was her hair a weave and lol she looked me funny like I shouldn't have asked her that question and let me remind you people my hair is mid back length smdh😟
Mine too. Both teacher's and students ask me if it's weave or if it has in highlights(my hair is dark brown with lighter streaks). It mostly comes from my own race.
My *white* principle actually complimented me on how my natural afro looked and said it was very neat. Soon after that many other students from my school stopped relaxing their hair and let it grow naturally 👩🦱 #hairpositivity
Ppl are not born with background knowledge about natural black hair. If you don't want to explain it to them, then don't get mad when they appear "ignorant." This is not an excuse for being rude but you can expect ppl to know things the are not taught.
Ashley C. I understand that but a lot of the stuff people say involving my hair (yes even black people included) is inherently rude and racist aside form being invasive. I feel like its really a manners issue. And it's not my job to educate. If people really were that concerned they'd do their own research and watch videos like these.
THIS video is offensive. I'd love to learn more about black people's hair, because it's actually very intriguing - and different than mine, so I don't know much about it. I could always assume, but I prefer not to do that. However, this video makes me think that my curiosity is wrong and racist, so maybe I understand more why some people, of any race (hey, Latinos don't have hair like black people...how come you don't slam on them for not knowing what it's like?) may have some boundary issues. This video is spreading negative beliefs about white people in general. If it was about black people, it would be deemed racist.
Die Please Well tbh not many people in the comments section were. I mean I go to an African school (like only 5 white kids) and it's the rest of the BLACK children / teens that touch others hair, heck even WAISTS. And it's comment does say 'i hate when white people touch my hair' Please don't take it as an insult, the person is talking about their experience that I assure you THOUSANDS (even me) have been through. Thank you and sorry :3
wow.you know what's interesting? i went on an interview a few years ago and a white woman doing the interview emphasised that the company was culturally sensitive. she told me next time you come in...you come as you are. she didnt like that i gelled my hair to slick it down.
Still doesn't make it right though. U should be able to wear your hair however you like and get the job if you're qualified (hair slicked back with gel can hardly be considered a distraction or unprofessional). And gel is a household hair staple for many men and women regardless of ethnicity or hair texture. Would she have said the same thing if you were wearing braids? Either way, culturally sensitive or not, discrimination is discrimination but I am glad that you got the job. Kudos!
So many of the comments here are absolutely horrifying. I am truly disgusted. It's so disheartening to see so much blatant racism. Calling black women ugly? Calling our hair dirty, "hopeless" or "animal hair with lice"? Really? Comments like those make me lose faith in humanity every time I encounter them. It's so disappointing.
omg everything that this video has said is so true , I wore an afro to the first day of ninth grade ,and a the girl sitting next to me wouldn't stop staring at me maybe because she's never seen some one wear an afro or because it was so large and curly and then without even introducing her self she says "hey is that weave? " I was so shocked and offended . and then she starts to touch my hair and says "hey can I touch it?" . Might I say I had an extremely long talk with her about black natural hair and how it was really rude to ask some one "is that weave?" when you don't even know them. But she turned out to be a really nice person ,and now were friends,so I guess this was a "win win" situation because I got to educate some one about our hair while also making a friend.😊
Im my school most of the black girls either have weaves or its out and a short short afro becayse theyre about to get it redone. im onw of the only girls who actually keeps her natural hair and Its obvious when its real hair. Truely the only way its off is when your hair curls up too much and it just looks bad
um with all do respect its not their fault ,most women wear those things in there hair because they feel self-conscious about their hair because of what society wants them to be ,so they change them self in order to be "excepted " instead of loving their own natural hair as it is .so I wouldn't really blame them for this.
Ichigo lol me too....when they’re faces light up when they see you...and you know for the fact that after they say your hair looks awesome...then they’ll hit you with the “can I touch ittttttt”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's sad but true. I've heard a few of these from Black folks as well, BUT what I have never seen is a situation where a Black peer has threaten someone's job if they didn't conform and straighten their hair or throw a student out of school for it. Thus we must educate in order to create change. Even when we get tired of doing so.
It's a shame really. Their natural hair would actually surprise them, if they learned to care for it properly. Relaxers actually made my hair courser and dry than when it was natural.
When I stopped relaxing my hair, this white girl at my job thought that I processed my hair to look kinky. She didn't understand that it grew out of my scalp like that. Then wanted to touch it. If you are aware of how black hair works, kudos to you, but this video was created to educate those who don't. Not everyone is exposed and this could help. If you already know, It doesn't apply to you so stop the first grade comments about it being racist.
I tell people at school, not to touch my hair, they laugh it off and do it anyway, after I feel disrespected. Also, people love saying I don't have much hair, *my hair is coming out due to me laying on the carpet* *its coming out* *i take care of it though* *it just grows slow*
I'm going to clear something up that I've seen in the comments. I'm noticing a lot of "I'm white and I don't do this" comments. I am also white and don't do this, but I recognize the importance of the video. See, denying that it happens doesn't solve the problem. You can't just let racism off with a free pass because pointing it out makes you feel bad. By watching, understanding, and appreciating the content of this video you'll be more likely to see these actions when they appear and more likely to try and stop them. You'll also pay closer attention to what you say and do.
StrawberryCreamPocky ticks? No. Lice? Yes. Why? Cause our hair is natural and straight, and lice like to live in these things,it would be very hard to live in a black persons hair,as it is very curly and sponge-like. Lice don't live in our hair because it's dirty, they live in because of the environment it provides, and it is just right for lice to live in. Checkmate idiot.
gerards tøe I didn't say you were my statement is clearly a false generalization of you're race based on historical context of asians and blacks relationships, and how asians treated their own dark skin asians as poor. Not everyone but enough for me to notice
yikes, this kinda pisses me off because people who think this stuff are actually out there. i find it stupid that black women cant get most jobs with natural hair?? like??? its hair. nothing is wrong with it. its super pretty and people should just keep their mouths shut. being white, i dont know whats its like to go through this daily. i dont have pin straight hair, its more wavy and tangled up. but you guys shouldnt have to relax your hair just for a job. people need to accept that thats how you were born 💜
The kinda funny thing is... Most white people I meet like my hair, like this white guy I dated once, he loved it. Sadly a lot of black people are the ones that put it down. Not all just some. Though I can't speak from experiencing corporate America.
This is true!. I work in a white collar establishment for one of the Big Three, but it's a very diverse corporation. I find the non-blacks that don't like my hair or have something bad to say about it, wouldn't say it to my face and if my big boss did.. I honestly wouldn't know what to do or how to feel.
+49jubilee. I got bullied all my life from African American women for my hair. I tried not to resent them for it. However it has changed my confidence and interactions with them. I have never gotten hate for my hair from other ethnicities. which is unfortunate in it's own way.
This video was created to fight racism against Black hair. You can't call something racist when it's fighting racism, just because you don't like the word, "White."
You're right but the title is only specifying white people. I'm sure as a black woman with (I assume) natural hair you've heard these some of these same stereotypes from black people. Like for example being called "Nappy headed" and told to straighten.
I recommend her changing the title to avoid racial tensions. Remember when people criticise certain hair types it's typically because they don't fully understand.
I'm white and would never say something so rude about someone's hair, it is part of who they are. And it in no way hinders them at work or anyone else. I am aware of how a black person's hair is cared for and the different hairstyles are something natural to them as different hairstyles are natural to everyone. It's no different from anyone else doing their hair (except a bit more work goes into it for some people). I like watching videos of different forms of care and styles of black people's hair. I don't know why I just do. My favorite hairstyle is the Afro because it reminds me of trees blooming in Spring which reminds me of Gaia the goddess of nature. Gaia is the ancestral mother of all life, which reminds me that all life started in Africa. My sister says I'm weird for thinking that, but that is just how my mind works.
lunarcorpse ... the Afro compared to a tree 🌳 is a great comparison because our hair grows towards the sun and defies gravity too. We have very unique and special hair that is linked to earth. Thank you for comment 🙏🏾
Everyone is from this earth. Ashes to ashes dust to dust. We all die the same. The important thing is to be in God’s memory to be resurrected. Only the meek will inherit this earth. Matthew 5:5
Hey you guys it's just our hair is so curl that the curls are so tight and to the naked eye it looks like an afro but if you look at the hair strand closely you'll see different curl pattern and our hair as blacks is kinky coil curly the best way I can explain our curl is do you remember lark Voorhees aka (Lisa turtle) from saved by the bell well that's is afro hair once it's detangle and the curls are defined. but remember every afro black person have a different curl pattern.
DinahhxMsp Why? That's a compliment. You shouldn't take everything so seriously. Your hair is unique and when people say stuff like that, you can't be so negative about it. They could've done so much worse and you're gonna be mad at them for that? What for?
SAME they will touch my hair because it's really curly they will touch it and be like it's so soft and pretty. Thank you but I DONT KNOW WHERE YOUR HAND BEEN
Cierrah Page I've had three black girls yank on my hair and demand that I tell them where I "got my hair". I'm just trying to point out that this isn't a race specific issue. People are just curious. Some are a little more... forceful.. than others.
I hate the term black hair.🙄 There's people in Somalia with type 2 wavy hair. Then there's people in Ghana with kinky type 4 hair. I've even seen a lil boy with straight blonde hair. Black people can have it all.😍
Random Girl bitch ik 💀 dumbass i was saying since white ppl think our hair dirty we can say they got lice ... read between the lines 💀 if they something rude we can 2
Worp Not if they have type 4 hair. But they can if they have a looser hair type. For example when we were kids I slept in the same bed as my brother who had lice (I didn't know) and he had type 3c hair and I didn't get lice because I have 4c.
Foxes And tea Clorox is kinda right that people don't care. They know. They don't want to care, if it's not like theirs and you aren't willing to do unnecessary shit to fit in then as far as they're concerned, you complain too much and want the world to change for you... Weird huh?
I actually had black people call my hair nappy bc I choose to have the hair on my hair match my DNA. My people are brainwashed beyond belief!!! Thanks HUFF!!
OMG tell me about it. The other day my aunt decided to greet me by shouting "Hey Nappy", while she was traipsing around in a wig. 😑😒 Thank God I'm a peaceful person
Oh yes, obviously!!! How could I be so confused?? Oh yeah... crazy things white people think.... *white people* Not _some_ white people. Not _racist_ white people. Just white people. You're right. It really is so obvious.
I went to school with my huge puff and girls were like it’s weave and I said NO they literally had to put there hands in my hair to feel my scalp I hated that!
one day an elderly white woman came up to us (Im white and have 3 adopted children black, white, black) and started to 'pet' my daughter's hair. Now she didnt mind and was used to it but I thought that enough was enough and I picked up her younger brother and told him to 'pat' the nice lady's hair! We all laughed and I think she learned something. I know my daughter did!
I’m a white woman that grew up in a community of color.. I was always asked by friends if they could touch my hair or braid it. I think it stems from the fact that humans are curious about what is different.. it’s not racist.
I don't think they understand how offensive that is! Even when they just want to touch it ask first. I hate when people touch my hair hell i hardly touch it. Please white people hell all people do not touch our hair it's disrespectful. 🙄
Svetlana Anjuska ashamed of what my hair is beautiful this is what I've been threw because people want to touch my hair it's disrespectful point blank nice try though. ✋ bye
+Eromosare Aghomon In trichology lab, various subjects from different ethnic backgrounds submitted their hair sample (including my own), we looked at the hair structure microscopically . The hair strands were also subjected to different chemicals for a semester (almost 6 months)...more damage occurred in white, coloured and black hair...Asian descendants suffered less damage....I don't remember the other things that we assessed (undergrad), but it was concluded that Asians have stronger hair in general....ask me something chemistry or pharmaceutical 😂at least that's where I specialised.
I'm a white gut and my partner is Black. She has helped me understand and appreciate Black hair, culture, etc. so much. I love running my fingers through her locs!
I'm white and not all white people think these things. It just depends on how ignorant or uneducated someone is. I've heard white people say that all black peoples hair is dirty and it disgusts me that they think it's ok to say something like that. All hair is beautiful and no one should be judged or called dirty for what they are born with.
Thank you so much 😊 I wanted someone like this to say something just because our ancestors were like this or other white people doesn’t mean everyone is all these comments are disgraceful to white people, they think white people think this but their not us and we’re not them
Yeah people don't know what they talking about like this is a weird ass video for people to just be searching up like I didn't even search this it just popped up i don't think nothing about white people thinking anything of our hair because tbh hair is just hair it really don't matter 🤷🏽♀️
Ben the Stik i get weave sometikes but my natural hair is still beautjful so i dont appreciate some white people thinking that are hair is dirty its just unique
I've had more black girls and a few mixed ones ask me about my hair than white people. I had a mixed girl stick her hands directly in my puff one day. I didn't see it coming. She just did it. I tried so hard not to curse her out. PS: Why do the black women cartoons look so angry?
one day i was in the office and i hearrd a young lady say certain people dont wash, there hair, it is pass tuff, a bunch of crap we all told her to shut she sound dump as paper rocks
Being honest as well, I've had more black women tell me it looks unkept, I'm never going to get a job, it looks like you didn't style it, what you gonna do about those naps and more other races amazed when I come to work with my flat twists, totally amazed on who long it's getting since I cut it. The only black people who like my naps are black men and other natural ladies...kind of weird that they paint it like only white people hate it or something. Out of all the styles I've had my hair in, my boyfriend (who's white) loves when I leave my hair in an afro lol
"It's unprofessional" I hate that so much because I went to an interview with my hair natural and I got it on the spot. Plus at my current job I always get offered jobs because of my great customer service, appearance doesn't matter, it's all about how well you do your job.
Actually it does. There are statistics of whites with criminal records getting the same jobs blacks with college degrees don't. Sorry for spoiling the mood
I love how she said our hair is styled and that when some people see our hair in a curly fro etc they see it as not done because our hair is different from there hair texture and type, this is SOOOOOOOO TRUE! 😍😍😍
the things my son said people commented about his hair. they ask why does he brush it if it's so low. they think their hair won't grow long. he's considered too black if he doesn't look mixed with curly hair. he's in college now. I twisted it for the first time for him. love it
I’m Caucasian and I always admired the way African Americans hair grew naturally, I think it makes them look impressive and disciplined in a way white people will never come close to replicating, I have know this type of hair based racial stereotyping is an issue for a long time, but I still can’t understand why, it makes no sense to me, but I realize I can’t truly see things through anyone’s eyes but my own, so maybe there’s a reason behind it that I just don’t realize, but honestly I think it’s just people being idiots.
@@PhantomViper49 Not all of us, maybe you didn't mean all of us but i am not jealous of black people's hairstyles, I know your hair isn't dirty and I know you guys take good care of it, I dig your hairstyles but that doesn't mean I'm jealous, sorry if it sounded like i was arguing or pissed off.
@@moisttowlette1247 it's totally fine the way i worded it is my fault . I didn't mean all white people just racist white people if that makes any sense .
I get it but if your job tells you tomorrow you have to straighten your hair or alter it chemically to keep your job or that your kid is getting out of school for it then what? Education is key.
That all good and lawsuits are happening but just last week the Supreme Court ruled against locs, aka dreadlocks in the workplace. That's discrimination on so many levels and the highest court in our land said this discrimination is okay.
You're absolutely right that is discrimination on so many levels. I stand firm that my hair is not a freak of nature and I refuse to explain my ethnic features to anyone. There are many jobs and many schools. I'll open my own business before I succumb to that bullshit
Why are people so mad about this? Jeez, it's an explanation of misconceptions, people! There's nothing offensive in this video, it's probably as innocent as it can be!
When I hear about natural hair being a distraction, I take it as a compliment. Like wow, you can't focus because my hair is that extraordinary? Thanks! & I don't mind if someone wants to touch my hair. As long as they ask first. Some people are just so rude and have no sense of personal space that they will just approach a black woman and stick their hands in the fro. Now that is a BIG no no.
That's cool until they say your hair is such a distraction, you're going to be kicked out of school unless you straighten it or fired from your job if you "don't stop wearing it like that." That's saying something is wrong with our hair.
White people need to see these videos more often , all these things i relate to" ummm is that your hair" its like saying is that your face like wtf shut up
Not to take away from your experience but just to share mine; I'm white with naturally curly hair and get asked if it's natural quite often, and not just from not from white people.
lol! Agreed to the 'is that your hair' statement, but I wear so much fake hair, they don't know what's real. I put that lacefront on.. game over! Some white folks know what a weave is but the frontal with them baby hairs have them all up in a chick head... looking like 'where'd the balls go?' lol
I have many black friends and family members so I've made a point of educating myself on their hair, which is so beautiful and versatile. I completely agree that other white people should educate themselves so that natural hair isn't seen as unprofessional or rebellious. Hair is hair is hair is hair!
I honestly believe that's a very valid question because it's very common for women to wear artificial hair in the form of hair extensions, pieces, wigs, weaves, etc so at this point no one really knows whether the hair on someone's head is their natural hair. Your comparison is not very valid on the other hand because altering one's face is not as easy, common, or practical as altering one's hair.
I have 30+ inch *REAL LOCS*, but, ignorant, hating, "hair hats", try to get to me, by constantly, making ignorant, insulting comments/questions: - "What kind of hair is that?" - "Oh...that's yarn locs." - "Where did you buy that hair?" And when state the fact that "It's all mine" - "I don't wear fake hair"; they walk away with "screw face". XD
I consider my hair "Locs", for a couple of reasons: 1. The word dread is negative, and in my opinion, there's nothing negative about natural hair. :)I "Dreadlocks came from the word dread for the meaning of fear and horror." 2. Many others, especially Rastas consider their hair as dread(locs)...to each his own. :) Now...to answer your question...XD I've been growing my "Locs" for 14+ years, but, recently, decided to go "Free Form" :)
I understand about being apprehensive about committing, but, once you start growing them; going through the process, you'll see that it's not so bad. And you can style them in so many styles. I have created over 25 loc styles. :)
OHHH GOODD NOO. I get that wayyyyyyyy toooooo freaking often. It's like "No I...nevermind". Also "How do you get your hair like this?" And "Is it a weave?"
I have the same feeling. I am in a predominantly black family and only three of my family members don't relax or flat iron their hair. I wish they could just leave it tho cus it does look beautiful.
So3a They didn't say they "needed", they said they " wish"... Curly girls that straighten their hair usually have someone who can't hold a curl wishing they could. It has to do with admiration, not "need".
nauticalmamma81 How do you speak for someone else? I get what she says. It's still not her business. It's just another form of judgement. And what's a curly girl?! You mean black, or women of colour. Please! I wish her ancestors hadn't FORCED mine to have to cover their hair, leaving deep rooted insecurities. As you were ✌
Not to be rude but good for you? A lot of people don't like having complete strangers touching their hair. It's all about respecting personal bubbles and boundaries.
+BlizzardxThexWolf Yes indeed. Good for me. I never said I had any problem with other women who don't like their hair being touched. It's our hair, we either allow it or we don't.
So I play basketball and I wear an Afro puff every day with a thick Nike headband, and this one cheerleader at my school touched my hair and asked do I do my hair everyday or wake up like that. I told her I put in leave in conditioner, detangle it (10 mins), twist it, wrap it at night, daily scalp massage it, and pik it out. Then i said if that don’t satisfy u then I’m sorry. Deal with it!!
daniel leslie..... why are white people so as you say curious.. i never see a blk person asking white women about their hair..WE DONT CARE bottom line..always something from whiters about blk woemns hair..w ffolks mind your hair business and leave our alone!
@@carolynbailey2390 Whites have been wearing braids since ancient history from the Greeks, to the Romans, to the celts and Vikings, braiding is a universal hairstyle oh and BTW I can guarantee that 99% of white people aren't concerned with how someone wears their hair nowadays
Rayven Chatham everywhere I go I get asked if my hair is real 😑 questions like that are annoying isn't it? Pft even if you had a weave..and if I had a wig who cares? None of thier buisness anyways!
Here's another one: Them: Do you ever think about straightening it sometimes? Me: Yes, I do when I feel like it, but I'm pretty certain this is supposed to be your passive aggressive way of telling me I need to, so... [BTW, Don't me fooled by the username; I'm actually a blasian (black/asian) with curly hair]
Str8UpSeoulSister seriously. It makes me happy when two foreign people and races come together. It tends to restore humanity's integrity. You are the living example of that and don't let anybody make you feel bad about who you are. Much love 😊
It's sad how this video was made to inform people that are not people of color, but yet all the comments are about how black don't accept natural hair from other black people. Chances are the people who ask questions or say things mentioned in the video have never encounter someone actually wearing their natural as a everyday style and are confused as to why someone would go to such lengths to do their own hair, when they could take an easier route like perms, relaxer or weaves. Just be patient and educate them.
I saw a comment the other day when a White woman told a Black woman to go away with her nappy hair! I was like but her hair is prettier than yours and when you're old and bald with stringy hair, she'll still have her thick beautiful hair because Black don't crack!
them assuming that you couldn't grow your natrual hair to that length or that your natrual hair couldn't be that beautiful and had to be from someone else's head makes you happy?
I love my hair but honestly I absolutely hate when black people tell me, "you should straighten your hair" or "You should get a weave/braids etc done" Like no, I only do that if I'm doing protective styling for the winter but I enjoy wearing my natural hair. Not hating against weaves or braids because I enjoy protective styling but I do love my hair too.... Also, I won't make the mistake of flat irons in the winter ever again....
In my school everyone loves black, real curly hair and they are almost admired in my school! I love how poofy their hair is! Love who you are no matter what! If you don’t love yourself, who else will?
I agree with you, I don't have "black people hair" my hair is very curly and this still applys. what people don't understand is that curly hair is not exclusive to the "black community" .
Clarissa, we know that curls are not exclusive to the black community. We're talking about black natural hair which is exclusive to people who are black or who have parents, grandparents etc that are black. Yes you may have curly hair, but this video is not about all types of curly hair.
But again as I'm stating it is still a problem with people with curly hair. which is why I sometimes have to wear wigs to work. so why cant I relate to a topic at hand that is relatable to people that have curly hair? oh that's right it's cause I'm not black.
Some black people think these same type of things about other black people's hair, by the way. Why don't we air that dirty laundry? Because to me an ass is an ass, regardless of skin color. Meaning that there are some (not all) black people with relaxed/straightened hair, weaved hair, or black men with natural haircuts that make these same type of assumptions about black women with natural Afro-textured hair or dreadlocked hair/ loc'ed hair. These statements are ignorant and rude no matter who they come from.
I thought that a blowout would make me look more professional. When I told my black manager this, he got so angry and told me if anyone ever says anything about my curly fro to let him know. I looked at my hair differently from that point on. I still blow dry it but once in a blue moon. It takes forever and is hard to maintain.
I love this video. I was thinking after I take out my crochet braids I'm going to go natural to grow my hair! Also bc I want people to know that I like my own hair and that I am PROUD TO BE BLACK! I'm 12 btw
oh my God you're 12 and you're already this ignorant this stupid girl in this video is only dividing the races not bringing people together I don't give two pieces of poop how you wear your hair or that you're black take some advice and stop watching these types of videos because they're only making you racist
First of all I didn't call you stupid and ignorant I called you ignorant and the girl in the video stupid cuz she's promoting some stupid view on why people caring for some reason about your hair which I don't care about your hair at all and I do accept how black people you know they are people and that's how I see people there people I don't care about the race I do except they want to be their own way I want to be my own way I really don't care about how you want to be I just care that this girl is promoting ignorance she's promoting racism she wants you to think oh yes why people are bad black people are victims so if you really wants to be accepted by me I accept you just don't be ignorant don't think all white people have a problem with you
Paul to call someone ignorant instead of stupid is a kind of nicer way of saying you're stupid I was trying to be hurtful to the girl in the video more than this little girl who has more of an excuse to be ignorant because she's only 12 other than the girl in the video which is older but you can accept racism all you want as long as it's towards white people right lol
Do people really say things like this? I'm mortified and a little embarrassed these are the kind of nasty things white folk say. I lived in South London for a decade and I never saw people say let alone think stuff like this! :O
most white girls i know have told me they prefer my hair in a weave. the other day my friend told me that i was pretty for a black girl. believe me it happens. but i like to think people are just ignorant.
It's a sad revelation to find how common it really is. So common that we now have info-videos about it. But if people see this and learn something from it, then that can only be a good thing xx
