problem is it takes years from germination to actually have fruit on some of these seeds, 5-8 yrs for mangoes, 3+ yrs for kiwi fruit, so if you think I'll just pop a seed in the ground and be munching on fresh fruit in a years time you will be disappointed, but if you are in it for the long haul you will reap the rewards

Mmmhh being a gardener myself I can tell you that a lot of these hacks don't work in the northern hemisphere. But also, many (not all) supermarket fruit and veg seeds don't sprout. Tried the Pepper, won't work. It works with potatoes and butternut squash (my compost has a story to tell) but I am a bit doubtful about smaller types of seeds.
@tfgrrl2042

Much of the fruit and vegetables you buy in a grocery store is hybrid and so while it might sprout, whatever you get from it is probably going to look and taste different from what you brought.

The bell pepper won’t work the way they’ve shown but if u cut out the core where the seeds are and toss in the compost heaps, they’ll sprout heaps ò plants. I currently have a few grown in pots which are fruit at they moments, all from compost heaps sprouted!

If you're not into growing full pumpkins, you can still plant the seeds and eat the early sprouted leaves as though it's spinach. Just make sure you get to it before it starts getting little hair-like pokeys on the stem and leaves. Texture and taste plummets at that point.

For the avocado, you should remove the brown skin from the seed. Also, in order to get better roots, cut the leaves to 6 inches once it grows around 10 inches. That way, the energy goes into making robust roots INSTEAD of a bunch of leaves.

Hi hi! So my mom grows food (herbs, veggies and techically-fruits the most) and I sent her this video and she LAUGHED while saying that most of the growing/fertilizer hacks in this video are complete bs. So just be weary... try to grow stuff the normal way unless the lifehacks aren’t from these “lifehack” channels. Growing food is actually really fun. I once grew a zucchini bigger than ones you find at the store My three random gardening tips: Peas are best started in your garden (transplanting peas leads to them dying 99% of the time), garlic does best in sandy soil when you first plant them (just mix sand with soil), and you should only water aloe when the soil is completely dry (sometimes the pot will say that you never need to water it, there are different types of aloe).

Exactly, seeds from GMO plants will not sprout, by design! That's why IF I buy seeds or plants from somewhere like Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, etc, I make sure they are Heirloom only!! Some marked as hybrids will sprout & some won't. A seed coming from grocery store GMO produce may sprout but usually dies mysteriously w/in a week or so. That's how they hook farmers, they get massive yields from GMO seed but can't store seed to use to plant next year's crop. Then there's all the fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, etc that GMO seeds must have (some only need one of these, others 2, some all 3). I've been storing seeds for decades now. I may live in the South but it's TN, on the wrong side of the mtn & have a shorter growing season than I had in GA so starting from fresh only works early on. I used flashing to reflect sunlight back to my garden for plants that require more sun such as peppers & don't for plants that prefer more shade. This way I can leave my massive old growth trees alone. There's 32 varieties of trees in TN, areas that haven't ever been clear cut or mined, such as my mtn, have all 32 including maples (make my own syrup), walnuts, hickory, just to name a few. If I do have to cut a Locust tree down it becomes fence posts bc they take roughly 40-50yrs to rot, untreated. So for those reasons & plenty more, I keep my trees. It's too easy to create or locate existing microclimates in a yard or garden or woodland. Ya just gotta do like Blossom does & get creative!!

Edible Apples, Cherry's, avocados, melons CANNOT be grown from the fruits you eat! This is a lie in this video! You must grow a tree of each variety and when young you ADD CUTTINGS FROM ANOTHER edible fruit tree! Apple trees from a fruit you bought in the store will only produce "crab apples" (sour apples!) as one example! ( I grew up on a 5 square mile "family" farm).
@vlrissolo
@vlrissolo 2 года назад
Well it will work with potatoes and a few other things carrots possibly but with seeds from your veg, I wouldn't count on it. These big companies had made sure everything is sterile so you cannot reproduce! You have to buy the seeds. I've got several big beautiful lemon trees. Not a lemon inside. When I was a child I planted an orange tree that produced oranges. They were the good old days LOL nevertheless there's nothing like watching something grow. I use my lemon tree branches in bouquets. The leaves smell like fresh lemons. They were awfully hard to propagate so I am keeping them and enjoying them as houseplants

The trick is to plant them under full sun. This pulls the moisture out and prevents rot permeating into the seeds themselves but turns the tomatoes fleshy bits into nutrients the sprouts desperately need to protect from that suns heat. It’s a sort of symbiosis

YOU are right and this video is full of BS. I've grown Tomatoes from Cherry, Grape, Romano to Beefeaters from seeds from each of those tomato species for the last 50 years, and my parents and grandparents and my great-grandparents before just as you also described. Wash them, let them dry in the air or even in the refrig, and you can store them for years, then plant when you need. Out of 50 seeds I get 90% seedling just by planting them in a mix of compost and garden soil with powdered eggshells. You can do the same with nearly any fruit, vegetable, melon, and squash species. Edible Apples, Cherry's, avocados, melons CANNOT be grown from the fruits you eat! This is a lie in this video! You must grow a tree of each variety, and when young you ADD CUTTINGS FROM ANOTHER edible fruit tree!
