Once in a while you come across a fellow veteran.. You look at each other , say a few words and you both can see it in each others eyes what you both have seen. You dont talk about it much, but what you say, you both understand. The memories, the nightmares, the shakes, the being jolted awake, the breathing fast and cold sweats. The nights I scare the shit out of my wife.
Bumping into non combat vets is probably the weirdest thing. It almost feels like I was in a completely different milatary. All service is respected but some things u gotta go through to understand.
Bullshit other veterans are worthless trash. All I ever fucking gotten from other veterans was being told to kill myself, get shot or both. Why the fuck should I ever respect fellow combat veterans ? No I’d rather go straight for the throat. Also that mental weakness you speak of only happens if your broken mentally
Agree brother. The nod is enough, no words need to be said. I've noticed that usually the more combat one has seen, the less they are open. One of my buddies is this way, and when we hang out, we just sit, drink, and watch some wrestling or football. Nothing needs to be said
I lesson to this all the time waiting for my future husband to come home, I can’t even imagine the things he has been through, but our family is so honored for all the sacrifices he has made for our freedom and for our family. Trust me when I first got truly home. It quite literally took me a little over 6 months more like 7 or 8 to come back from the battlefield to be perfectly honest. You just miss as strange as it may sound to ciivillians , You're just guys being guys knowing every guy has your back literally.
