Animal shelters and rescues typically see a wave of people giving up their pets during the holidays, but they say it's worse this year than ever. Dogs are being dumped on a near daily basis. Darcy Spears reports.
@@Will324... yep. If kids are brought up with no empathy it's a nightmare for others later. Some parents and grandparents don't care if they see kids hounding or hurting insects or animals and some parents don't even know that an animal suffers all the feelings and pain of a human. God says we must regard the life of the beast in scripture. He refers to animals as "beast" but not the same as humans use the word beast.
@@earnold1896 Jesus said "It was said to them of olden time, 'Honor thy Heavenly Father and thy Earthly Mother, and their commandments, that thy days may be long upon the Earth'. And next was given this commandment: 'Thou shalt not kill,' for life is given to all by God, and that which God has given, let not man take away. For I tell you truly, from one Mother Proceeds all that lives upon the earth. Therefore he who kills, kills his brother. And from him will the earthly mother turn away, and will pluck from him her quickening breasts. and he will be shunned by her angels, and Satan will have his dwelling in his body. And the flesh of slain beasts in his body will become his own tomb. For I tell you truly, he who kills, kills himself, and whosoever eats the flesh of slain beasts, eats of the body of death. And their death will become his death. For the wages of sin is death. Kill not, neither eat the flesh of your innocent prey, lest you become the slaves of Satan. For that is the path of sufferings, and it leads unto death. But do the Will of God, that his angels may serve you on the way of life. Obey, therefore, the words of God: 'Behold, I have given you every herb, bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the Earth wherein there is breath of Life, I give every green herb for meat. Also the milk of everything that moveth and that liveth upon each shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given unto them, so I give their milk unto you. But flesh, and the blood which quickens it, shall ye not eat."
Not for some people, I lost a long time friend when she got pregnant. I explained to her that she is not having a puppy, kitten or bird and that when she gets tired of the baby she won't be able to sell or give it away like every pet she had for the last 30 years. Yes, I had had enough of that behavior from her and felt a need to make a hurtful statement!
I’ve seen the results of those people who don’t spay or neuter will likely have several litters as long as someone else picks up the puppies and they don’t have to deal with them.
@@sarcasticallyrearranged that's my little town. The local meth heads just let their dogs (and cats) breed, and breed, and breed....and then hungry, lonely animals run around and become a nuisance, getting into trash cans and chasing cars and having fights. It's fodder for mean people who want to shoot something (and they do, especially around here.) And then the "owners" moan about how no one helps then with their puppy problems. I absolutely love dogs and I have three of my own, but I can't help every single dog out there. It comes down spaying the damn things. If you love them, spay them.
They are no longer people there of Monsters and they should be treated that way! what you do give out comes back to you and I hope it comes back to them a hundred times over... they(The Monsters) deserve no food, no water no housing themselves see how it feels defend for themselves Selfish Monsters🤮
This breaks my heart. I just don’t understand how some of us humans can be so cruel. Dogs are so special amazing loving loyal babies. This world is just so lost and it makes me said for my children and animals now and what the future may hold.
That's awful, I have a few rescue dogs , one even showed up on her own about 10 years ago, the last one is a Yorkie that I found tied to a pole in a parking lot.
Thank you for your true humanity. It hurts their little souls to be abandoned. All they want is love and they don't understand being abandoned. As a disabled Senior that was dumped in the street and has been homeless for a year I know how they feel. Please help them any way you can. I'll be praying for the precious souls. Happy Holidays to ALL creatures two, four and more legged.😁 Stay safe and warm. Blessed Be A Colorado Mountain Grandma, USA 💜
The problem is that people view animals as property and not as family. So, when they are having a hard time maintaining their lifestyle or when there is an accidental litter, an unexpected illness, or when they dislike the animal's behavior, they dump them the same way you throw away a toy that doesn't work.
I just spent over a $ 1500. at the vets for my 16 year old cat. I really cannot afford it but i cant let him be ill either. I love him very much. Many people are in worse situations than myself, having to chose between food and medicine for themselves and their families or caring for a pet.
@@llhar894 Uhhhhh that's actually a stupid comment but yeah if that helps you sleep at night. Maybe do some research and get your head out of the sand.
We've been on remote mountain trips and found domestic animals left there to be eaten or fend. Unfortunately, they are usually too terrified to be caught and run off. We recently trapped and adopted a kitten apparently dumped in our neighborhood. These dumpers need to be prosecuted. With COVID there was a rise in taking pets, and it was predictable that those selfish people who only wanted them during COVID lockdown, would dump them when life returned to "normal."
I didn't know about that. That's terrible. How selfish can you be. I'm shocked. I had a four legged people for 21 years. She gave me more, many times over, than I could possibly ever repay. It makes my brain actually hurt trying to understand cruel and careless people. Thank you for telling about this "new" Covid problem. Blessed Be.💕 A Colorado Mountain Grandma, USA💜

Animals are NEITHER expendable NOR disposable. They are us - just in different shape and form. They have to be protected, properly cared for, respected and loved. They feel everything humans do and more. SHAME on humankind! SHAME!
Humans are the absolute worst species on the planet. How hard is it to ask for help with all the resources available? These are probably the same ignoramuses who think it’s a great idea to not have their animals fixed so they can have kittens and puppies, only to dump them or give them to ppl who would harm them.😢 I only hope these humans are dumped the same way in their hour of need. Sorry not sorry. I ate apples and peanut butter for months so I could take care of all of my pets and worked several jobs until I was able to get back on my feet. You are their pack/family. They would never abuse or abandon you. People who would do this lack empathy, compassion, loyalty and kindness.😞 I’m not surprised Mother Nature is doing her best to kill off the real virus 🦠, humans. Be better, humans!! 😡 I am genuinely grateful, however, to ppl who are doing whatever it takes to help these furry victims as well as to those who donate, volunteer and foster.🙏🏼🫶🏼
And during the pandemic, how many were adopted. Or perhaps, people that claimed emotional support, are learning that a pet needs care. Care that takes time and money. Thier time and money can now go to something else. They don't have to be responsible for a pet anymore.
How horrible to hear those news how they treat the poor little animals they all have feelings just like people too. They were lovely animals. Shame on those people but like they always say payback is a bitch.
There’s a special place in hell for animal abusers. Someone should be staking out that area and watching for these scumbags. Take down plate numbers, confront them, shame them, find where they work and tell their employers what they’re doing.. people who abandon animals are the scum of the earth and should be treated as such.
Id leave myself without & never leave my animals, cold, alone, frightened, left open to the elements & all sorts of dangers. Total disgusting abandoning your pets like that. Obviously there was no love there to be lost in the first place.! Honestly hate this world at times.💔
@@eclark3849 or put money to a vet fund for their pets weekly, a lot of policies when you look right into them arent worth it.. unless you have a dearer one that covers ongoing illness, dental work etc too. I understand circumstances can change due to lots of reasons... its the totally abandonment & how animals will feel that I cant understand nor accept. X
It's happening horrible in Lubbock. It's so sad for these babies. They have no idea what they've done wrong. I have rescued 4 dogs and 2 Ferrell cats. That people have dumped. I have. Kepted them all.
The rising cost in Vet care is something to note. Animals can be extremely costly and sometimes it can be at worst times for the human. However, no excuse to dump innocent life. When lady said she’d give her right arm for her Dog back, I looked at mine, then to my Dog (who’s being rubbed by my right arm while I watch), and I switched to left arm. If my Dog were ever in danger, I would absolutely risk my life for her. I wish I could help in some way other than if someone reads this comment and is thinking of buying from a breeder, please call shelter first, puppies, purebreds and spectacular mutts are waiting for love!
Harbyarby, please consider volunteering at your local Rescue or Shelter. They are really crowded right now, and could use somebody like you with a good heart.
Touching emotional saga. But have you EVER written a physical letter to a public official to start immediate action with laws needed fast, while more dogs die in the meanwhile?? What does it take to get humans condemning humans for animal abuse to look at THEMSELVES about what THEY are doing BESIDES JUST TALKING??? AND THAT'S ALL THEY DO?? LIKE A COFFEE CLATCH OR STUPID TEA PARTY THAT NEVER GOES HOME, WHILE ANOTHER 2000 DOGS AND CATS DIE THAT DAY WHILE THEY WAIT???
Many rescues steal, take, breed, and hide and sell puppies to make money. Broke up several, got vets unlicensed, sued, and appropriately disgraced for their abuse. Never ending story places like the good old Golden State...🌁🌉🌃
Part of the problem is that during covid lots of people adopted pets. Everyone was so pleased to see the shelters empty out. Some of us predicted it would not end well. And here we are.
How can these damn people just do that to their pets. Shame on you for doing this, they should be getting a jail term for doing these horrible acts. I just thought that only 3rd world countries did this. I guess ignorant Americans also do this kind of act. By the way I live in Colorado.
People can be so Horrible!!!! How does anyone leave a innocent furbaby on the road. Dumping them like Garbage! What is wrong with People!! Don't get a Pet unless u are going to keep it Love and protect it until it dies of old age. They are like a child, a member of the family. I don't understand how anyone can do such a Terrible thing. This Breaks my heart 💔
The old fashioned way of posting a photo with information like name, phone numbers, etc. can really work. My moms dog used to run away and I knew the drill, posting hundreds of posters around town. He always turned up. Paired with Facebook pleas and Nextdoor the dog could turn up if still alive.
People during covid needed an outlet, so they adopted pets and soon as they went back to work, they dumped them back at the shelter, plus the animals they bought. Thousands of illegal aliens, borded the busses, and left their pets behind at the border, another catastrophe rescues are dealing with..Bad economy means people can't afford to feed and care for their pets. Housing laws change constantly, and people cannot keep their pets. Shelters and rescues cannot take found and unwanted pets in without an appt..Lost pets will not see their owners because of this. Heart breaking to say the least.
Prayers that little Louie is found safe and sound and returned to his family! Hopefully a kind person found him, sees this video and returns Louie to his family! ❤️🐶🙏❤️🍀🍀🍀
Please, please, please don't abandon your pets. They don't understand and its so, so hard on them. Reach out. Give rescues a chance to be proactive, and not reactive. Please.
"Dumping" of any pet, should be prosecuted and fined. I am sure it's hard on law enforcement, but if they can catch em,' then they should walk the hall of shame!
This is heart breaking! 😭😭😭😭😭 What's wrong with people. It hurts so much :( People are getting worst and worst ever. Lock the dog in cage and leave for death. How evil you can be? At keasy leave animal somewhere 😭
This is not just happening in Las Vegas People just leave their animals behind when moving I know and shelters are full and can not help I know Last year in November freezing cold blizzard and the people across the street 5 door down left there cat cuz I always seen it on their porch. The cat started coming to my side door and other peoples door steps so I started calling shelter nobody would help not taking any more try this shelter it was a run I was angry it was horrible I could not afford to get another animal could not bring this cat in my house I had another cat Babe I adopted that was a special need cat I was thinking what if this cat had a disease or never had it shots it was obvious it was not fixed its balls were huge but I knew I had to do something so I fed it twice a day and made a shelter out of styrofoam bought a bale of straw, a tarp just until I could get some help but it got so cold out I felt horrible I would go out with my gloves hat heavy coat and sit on the step and put the cat inside my coat to warm it after 1/2 hour I would be freezing I put him back inside the shelter (I made a rice bag) to help keep him warm for about 40 minutes if that but I knew that the straw would help keep him warm also...Another night came It was a blizzard freezing cold so I I had gotten a huge wire cage my girlfriend dropped off a few days earlier I put it into the basement I put a litter box in it blankets water food until I found help this lasted 4 days inside a a few weeks outside the Euclid Beach Rescue helped me they took him he got all his shoots /neutered and found a home for him...He was an amazing cat why would anybody have left this smart amazing cat behind I just do not understand....I now have another cat Troubles she was abandoned very sick but it was in June of 2022 she would lay in the driveway cry and sneeze eyes runny very hungry I knew i had to help she was a baby the vet said she was 6-7 months skinny little thing I got her medicine later her shoots and got her spade . Babe my cat passed away I was so depressed my heart was broken I believe the Lord sent me Troubles I needed her and she needed help she is a handful but I have joy in my heart again......... I put a sign on my side door NO MORE VACANCY.. We are the ears eyes and voices for animals and children please help you may save a life...
This is criminal. How can there only be one place to leave a lost animal! Plus a 5 week wait! This is crazy. Animals are at risk. Please take care of this matter.
How freaking hard would it be for them to set up a spot, on their website, like a lost and found type of thing, that way whenever someone loses a pet and someone else drops it off, they can post a picture of the pet, and maybe more animals could be reunited with their owners. Or even that lady could set up a FB page, a lost and found in and around her area
The problem is that there are too many of those sites and pages. We need ONE main site for each county that is user friendly. Most of them, the way they are set up, makes it impossible to find a pet, even if it's posted there.
it costs $450 to adopt a dog here. It costs $700 to neuter my dog. Every vet visit is at least $300-500.. I work 60+ hours a week to make sure my dog is well taken care of but i am so exhausted...
If you can't afford the fees you can't afford an animal. And adoption from a shelter should not be that much. Plus, because humans are scum of the earth, they are millions of animals that need rehoming that would be given for free. Excuses, excuses, excuses . Boils my blood. I despise humans, humanity no longer exists
My dog died at 15 years old and I can't afford the fee to adopt a dog from a shelter even, this is so sad that people don't appreciate what they have. My cat was 23 years old when he died, I loved my animals.
Everyone calls me heartless when I say poor/broke ppl, ppl without stable housing, and CLUELESS ppl SHOULD NOT OWN PETS!!!! But they DO cost money to feed, to keep HEALTHY, to treat MEDICAL ISSUES, etc. Some need special care, many need lots of attention, etc. Seems like ppl don't do ANY research before going to get pets, often dumped at truckstops too (just saw it happen to a cat last week). To me, THAT is HEARTLESS! They are not DOLLS! Don't get pets if you're busy, poor, broke, can't keep stable pet-friendly housing, or are uncaring.
Thank you for exposing this. This is happening in AZ too. All the Shelters switched their policy at the same time and started charging people to surrender a pet. Even Good Samaritans! They also stopped allowing walk-ins, and started making people make an appointment, with the same long wait of 1-2 months. This set off an increase in strays. That was a couple years ago, and now, the combination of rising cost of living, with people just struggling to pay for everything, and the Shelters have been battling Distemper outbreaks for over a year. So the biggest one just closed recently to finally address the problem. All 4 of those things are bad news for the pets out there. 😥
AND THE COST OF DOG AND CAT FOOD! ITS getting so that you can barely afford to feed yourself let alone your pets! Yes , its horrible and I see your comments on here. But you do not know what these people maybe going through. For everyone that just dumps their pets, there are those struggling who give them up. HOWEVER, there is no excuse for this. But keep in mind , that may rescues, shelters are at capacity and when people call they are told, they have no room SO PEOPLE HAVE NO OTHER WAY OF DOING THIS. WHEN you have children to feed, when your losing your apt or home...PEOPLE ARE DESPERATE. I WILL NOT BELIEVE THAT ALL OF THEM A BUNCH OF MEAN SPIRITED HORRIBLE GRINCHES! ITS GOING TO GET WORST AND I PRAY THEY ARE NOT JUST ABANDONING CHILDREN IN THE SAME MANOR.
This is so sad breaks my heart I just rescued a German Shepherd from the animal shelter 2 weeks ago and she's a sweetheart I could not see doing that to her
I was trying to find a placement for a homeless woman. In checking out a shelter--already at capacity--I saw several people who were there with their pets. That shelter was unusual, since most don't allow pets. If finding homes for PEOPLE is hard, is it any wonder finding homes for pets is even harder?
This is world 🌍 devastating I'm Guyana these people just dispose of animals in plastic bags! So my work has become global I have 35 kittens 😁 all ages.rescued I am going out of my mind I can never even think 🤔 of causing any harm to anyone or any animal I am considering visiting the honorable president for some help it's just overwhelming.
The humane society no longer accepts drop offs where I'm from. I have had a really sick feral cat come to me for help recently, and I rented a taxi to take her to get help, and they turned us away. They told me to just put her outside, and that she was relatively fine. I didn't have the heart, since it's Winter. She died clean, safe and warm here with me 3-4 days later.
Thankyou for all you did for this precious sick cat. You gave the kitty a dignified death. So many die alone and never get to experience a loving hand. Its too sad.. please everyone open your heart whenever you see an animal in need..dont turn away, dont pretend you didnt see its injured body, or pleading eyes. There are too many humans with hearts of stone, dont become one of them.
This make me so angry that people can do this to innocent animals....if if you cant afford an animal DONT GET ONE in the first place. I would rather starve and give my food to my animals or any other animals, if they was hungry. And this video did make me cry at the end, I am so happy that the elderly couple got their dog back.❤❤
I LOVE. the end story. How wonderful to reunite her with her parents. I bet that kind family gave that couple their best Christmas. Thanks Mom and especially your young guy catching the sweet tiny dog. Great way to teach your children kindness and compassion. I sure hope Las Vegas can resolve their shelter issues soon. With as much BIG business going on there I don't understand why there is this type of problem. It is heartbreaking.💔 A Colorado Mountain Grandma, USA 💜
What did you think would happen when having a pet has been commercialized... I bet most of the people who have dumped their pets would have want to keep it but they can't afford all the costs... it's only in America that it cost an arm and a leg to have a pet.
It costs everywhere. Just lots of places they don't think it's important to keep your pets healthy. There was a friendly cat in my neighbourhood who looked like a zombie. I figured it must be a stray, so I took it to Animal Services. Turns out it has a microchip and an owner down the street. They just *never once took the cat to a vet so generation after generation of ear mites had CHEWED A HOLE IN ITS HEAD* I shudder thinking of the constant pain this poor cat must have been in. But to some people, having a pet means food and water and that's it. This poor cat was weeping pus from its eyes but its idiot owners didn't notice or care.
You're kidding me right? If you obtain a pet it is your responsibility to re-home to a loving household, not just dump an animal. That's so disgusting. A person with a soul doesn't do that. That's pure evil. Don't get a pet to begin with if you can't make a lifelong commitment. This is totally unacceptable. Karma, karma karma please. I wish nothing but horrible things on these people
I have seventeen kitty / cats in my home. Last tiger was in bad shape. He's beautiful and loving. I hate what is happening. Prices need to stop. I can't afford anymore. Hundred pounds of litter a week. Two huge bags of food. Plus I do canned and treats.
I can't even watch this. I already hate humans. I pray for the unimaaginable to happen to the vile things that do this. How are people breeding "humans" that would grow up and be so reprehensible It's scary the evil that is around us. I really wish the government would step in and help animals; this is unacceptable.
Las Vegas does not have a county service????Shame on you The private sector cannot do it alone .Disgusting that government has not stepped up to it's responsibility.
This is how I got my dog three months ago. Previous owner let her out and she was starving when I got her. I posted her on Facebook and was told that her previous owner couldn't keep her and good luck finding her a home.
IT IS A FELONY TO ABUSE OR NEGLECT ANY ANIMAL SINCE TRUMP SIGNED IT INTO LAW...PEOPLE STEP UP AND TURN THEM IN . ABANDONING ANIMALS IS A FELONY.....PERIOD
Some horrible human kicked a dog out near our local 7 eleven. Two days before Christmas, in -30 weather!! Poor thing was terrified and wouldn’t leave the area. After 5 hours the poor babies feet were too cold and he was captured by animal control. I don’t understand. How could anyone do such a thing? I could barely sleep that night. It was so disturbing.
In Turkey theres so many dogs that have been dumped and thrown out like garbage are becoming ferral and now will attack people and other pets because they are that hungry!!
Frankly, people who dump dogs like that are doing their pets a favor. Probably weren't well taken care of, as is evident when they are found with health issues, or even litters of puppies and kittens. If you know someone who had an animal and no longer has it, that's who's doing it. I went to our local pound and found a gorgeous, purebred 8-month-old blue heeler a few months ago. Workers said that they found her running in a pack of 2 other blue heelers and three German Shepherds. Someone had these NICE dogs and because they were older pups, they were probably overwhelming and getting difficult to handle. Other than being skinny, they were nice dogs and no owner picked them up from animal control. But I am glad that I found her and she LOVES her new home! People are sorry when it comes to caring for others. Not everyone should be a pet owner.
poor people should stop taking animals. they don't even spay and neuter. Animals in my care they are just stray that people neglects. Everyone has animals but never fix them. All animals around me are almost all fixed even if they are not mine. I just have problem now that it is more expensive. I can't afford to help more animals. My two dogs are also dump by owners. I need to fix my male dog soon, the female is always the first one we need to fix coz they get prego. The cycle never ends anyways, humans are so hardheaded. Just keeps playing with kittens and puppies and ditch them when they grow up. or they ditch teh puppies and kittens too. Unending and will never stop.
It's so evil to dump animals this way instead of taking them to a shelter and surrendering them. These are the same people who put babies in dumpsters.
12/25/22...I remember my 1st mini poodle 🐩. I got her when she was 6 weeks old. 4 brothers but nobody wanted the single girl...BUT that's WHI I WANTED. I moved often for my work but 1st question was ALWAYS "CAN I KEEP MY SMART/HOUSE-BROKEN POODLE "? I even paid "pet deposit" @ times + once I had a friend repair an old fence so she could be safe outside when she went out to "go potty". And I always rented carpet cleaner + cleaned the carpet when I moved out. All my landlords gave me great 👍 references + most gave me my pet/security deposit back. I ALWAYS had food for her even @ just before end of month/pay day. I would THEN buy me milk 🥛 + cereal to eat b/c SHE HAD TO EAT 1st! And I used credit card 💳 when necessary to pay vet annual bill...+ paid it off ASAP. I even paid/buried her in a pet cemetery outside of Atlanta where she is with all her brothers + sisters. It cost $$ but she + my other pets have ALWAYS HAD A GOOD HOME + FOOD TO EAT + ME AS THEIR "HOOMAN MOM" TO LOVE/CARE FOR THEM! GOD BLESS OUR PETS!
I know shelters are overwhelmed, but in order to avoid animals being left on the side of the road, shelters are going to have to be more welcoming and encouraging of people doing the right thing.
This is why I like animals more than most people. Only a POS monster would dump innocent animals like this. Karma will find those responsible and the result won't be pretty.
