If you are ever lucky enough to see Michael Ball in concert...GO!!! He is an unbelievable performer! I have seen him sing this and it reaches your SOUL! He puts EVERYTHING into it and it just emotionally drains to watch him. I have been a huge fan since the very first time I saw him is Les Miz.
Alfie once said that Michael is a great actor and that no one can put the emotion in songs like he does. He couldn't be more right! I was blown away when I first heard this on his album, but seeing him sing it...OMG! Love him so much! ❤️

Me too I LOVED him in Les Miserables and I try to follow ALL of his music. He's amazing. Wish he would do a tour in Washington State I'd be there in a heartbeat!
I think that Michael’s best version of this was on the album The Royal Hall Celebration for Andrew Lloyd Weber which included other great stars and songs like Antonio Banderas, Sunset Blvd, Phantom, etc.
I just love you both and can never get enough of you. Please don’t split up it would break so many hearts. It would also leave a large hole in entertainment.
Every time I hear Michael sing this, it rips out my heart. The only other person I've heard that comes close is Stig Rossen, but I think Michael edges him out a bit. ❤️

elastic774 Well, I'm 73 and still learning! I always associated Colm with Les Mis. I loved this Gethsemane! I know the show is more ”rock”, but liked his version for the same reason I like Michael’s - the more shrill notes aren't in my wheelhouse. I completely understand the musicality of it but like chocolate and vanilla, we all taste and hear differently. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know what I was missing.
Ilsa Ruthen OMG - thank you! I needed that. I just love the guy and admire he has been with Cathy, his SO since around 1990. They have lived together happily, never married and she is 75,.... And gorgeous. That makes her a few years younger than me and also makes me insanely jealous. When I watch Michael and Alfie together I realize it's been an hour and I haven't stopped smiling. We are so fortunate to have the technology to have this entertainment at our fingertips. I remember when we got our first TV in 1950! Is your name ”Ilsa”? My granddaughter is Isla but s is silent. Just curious. Love the name!
