The problem with watching other book tubers channels is that the tbr list only gets bigger. Happy reading to you.

Piranesi, Carmilla, The Ballad of Black Tom and Dark Matter are all amazing books! I was bamboozled a few years back when I learnt that Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep were the same book, it’s on my list to both read and watch since I haven’t done that for either.

Oh wow, you are in for a treat Alyssa. The book and the movie are great! Watch Blade Runner 2049 afterwards too. Another great film by Denis Villaneuve.

Chas I didn't know you published a book let's gooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the title and cover!!!!!! No doubt I will be grabbing a copy for myself at some point. Piranesi, Dark Matter, and PHM would definitely make my list too. I desperately need to get into McCammon!

I read Treasure Island, Fahrenheit 451, Dracula and Carmilla in my early teens, among some other classics. It surely was formative for my mind. Unfortunately, these books have also risen my expectations for the future reads higher than many of the books managed to fulfill later on. This is a great list of solid books spanning many different genres.

Thank you Julianne! Yes it definitely raises the bar for more modern books, and many don’t hit the bar.

Great list! I really need to get to Piranesi soon. I love Dark matter and I'd also recommend Recursion and his Whispering Pines book. I like to say he's the new Michael Crichton
@BookishChas
@BookishChas 20 дней назад
Oh yeah I’ve definitely have his other books on my TBR too lol. He’s a great writer. Piranesi is quite unique.

Some of these are books I would normally not pickup (except Oscar Wilde) but now will. You are spot on about S. King being too detailed and I cannot read him exactly for this, it just goes on and on... and I certainly tried so many times! I've added a few from your list to me TBR, thank you for the content!

Excellent video Chas. In June, my TBR will be non horror. If there was a books on this list that aren't horror that I have pyschial copies of, I would read it in June. So I will be reading that Ray Bradbury book. I would have read Meddling Kids, but that sounds like horror.
@BookishChas

Oh ok Bradbury is a great choice David. Yes I would consider Meddling Kids horror.

Read six of the books on this list and I thought they were all good, so the rest are probably worth my time. I'll try to check some of them out when I get to the bottom of my TBR.

The picture of Dorian Gray was a life altering book for me when I read it. I was really young and self centered at the age I read it. Oscar Wilde really took me on a journey about myself and i am honestly afraid to read it again. Another book that did the same was The Stranger by Albert Camus. The last few pages gutted me.

Great video Chas! I actually charged up my kindle for the first time in months so I could get an ebook from my library on Libby and saw I have Talindors Guest on there! I totally forgot I got it at some point but now I will make a point to read it the next time I’m looking for a standalone like that. Hope you have a good rest of your day!

Cheeky, no favourite author in the list and "subtly" mentioning most of Neil Gaimans books are standalone 😅 Cool list, Salems Lot is coming up for me after Wizard and Glass on my way to The Dark Tower. I like the addition of classics to your list also. Added your book to my wishlist on foreign amazon. Will pitch in an order along with M V Prindles new book as soon as I can afford to. Prindles last book Bob The Wizard was imo a great book, one of my top 3 of 2023, and for now a standalone (although I am hoping for a series at some point).

Oh cool! I’ve heard good things about Bob the Wizard. It’s on my list to read eventually. The cover art is awesome! Thanks for checking out my book. After Wizard & Glass is the perfect spot for Salem’s Lot. I hope you enjoy it. I’ll always find a way to casually plug Gaiman lol.

1) I Dream of electric sheep/ Blade runner. I did not care for it. I will not read it again. I am doubtless in the minority, but I just didn't enjoy it. 2) Fahrenheit 451on the other hand, I have read 4 times and it is a definite must read. 3) Treasure Island. An excellent book. It isn't on my "must read" List, but would probably be an honorable mention. 4) The portrait of Dorian Gray. Good book, though it isn't on my "must read" or even the Honorable mention list. Still definitely worth your time though. 5) The Ballad of Black Tom. Another very good book, but not a must read. Not an honorable mention either. Still worth your time.

Awesome list! I look forward to reading your novel soon. Boy's Life will appear in my top ten books, beautiful novel. You really need to read Swan Song, just putting it out there. 😀 Salem's Lot is my wife's favorite book but I also love it, however judging by my top King choices, I love big, fat, chunky books with loads of character development and epic in scope. 😀Carmilla is high priority on my tbr. I loved The Ballad of Black Tom and will be reading more by this author. I do not think I need to comment on Clive Barker, my second favorite author. Project Hail Mary is also high priority on my tbr. Check out my Passion Project Top 100 for my recommendations.
