@@thesnatcher3616 Relax, I'm not hurting your precious game. I like 3D World. But many of these bugs (not "features") have been public knowledge since the Wii U version's release, so it was a little surprising they made it into the Switch port years later.

@@acidicali7776 It kinda gets even. You'll be forced to get 10 somewhat slower stars. Considering how cat momentum works in switch which is basically identical to Mario Maker 2 (Now you only lose momentum on ground) the speedrun had became faster but harder since let's face it, Peach is kinda the easy mode. I know the record is 2 minutes slower but people is still getting used to the new physics and cat dive.

@@N12015 I'm pretty sure cat momentum is the same. It's just your ground speed is flat out faster than cat momentum which is funny. Cat momentum is still useful when trying to do tight jumps without slowing down due to turning or just gaining speed from a stand still

Not to mention they increased the movement speed of all playable characters in this new version of the game, so the cat-dive canceling speed trick used in the original is now slower due to the normal movement speed having been increased

@@BaconFearMC Tricky Trapeze Theatre Invisible platform and invisible floating water bubble to be precise. And maybe the one with the shell and being stuck. That one seems more like an intended thing than a glitch.

They are not glitches, but they weren't exactly intended. They're more likely things that the devs put in for testing and forgot to take them out when they released the game.

I think the reason it exists and still exists, because Nintendo learned from SMM2 that creating "half-blocks" on the grid they still use to this day for Mario games, causes glitches. Remember the hyperspeed slope Bowser glitch in SMM2? That was a result of glitches caused partially from slopes breaking a "block" on the grid, which makes the game get confused. Think of it like this: Say, a videogame has a grid like gridpaper, and instead of staying within the lines of each "block" on the grid, you decide to instead cross a diagonal line through one or more of the blocks on the grid, which can create an awkward look of the map. I hope my analogy explanation was clear, it was pretty bad an explanation I think.

Technically, they got rid of the BLJ glitch in Mario 64 FAR before 3D All Stars got released. The version of Mario 64 in 3D All Stars is infact the "enhanced" version of Mario 64 Japan (I think?) got that the west never did till 3D All Stars, which has a few differences than the original on the N64: BLJ being unable to build-up speed endlessly, and the line Mario says while throwing Bowser was changed from what fans hear it as "so-long gay Bowser", to: "Bye-bye!" as Bowser is not called Bowser in Japan. I BELIEVE it's Kuppa in Japan, which is why in at least one of the old Mario cartoons, that Bowser is referred to as "King Koopa", which is incorrect in western areas.

I think the water area was from a early version of the layout of 1-1 the removed the texture but not the water itself

It's not a glitch, but an exploit mechanic. The "infinite 1 up" trick has been a staple in 2D sidescroller Mario games since the very first entry SMB1. SMB2 USA doesn't count because it isn't really a Mario game, and was just Nintendo making a romhack of a game called "Yume Kojo: Doki-Doki Panic" to save time once they noticed the REAL SMB2 in Japan would be too hard for Western gamers. As I imagine once they had that realization of the high difficulty, they were pressed for time, so instead of creating a new rom to slot into a NES cart to be a different sequel to the original SMB, to save time they just romhacked Yume Kojo: Doki-Doki Panic, which is a game the west didn't get, so in the early day of home gaming, people in America wouldn't notice it's not actually a Mario game. It became common knowledge on the Internet that it isn't really a Mario game eventually. But I'm glad Nintendo made that move for Westerners, as without that, characters like Shyguy and Birdo wouldn't had become part of the Mario universe.

Like they kinda did for Ocarina of Time 3D? They only kept ANY glitches in that remake, because one Nintendo employee was pro-glitches, much to the rest of Nintendo's surprise.

It DOES work in the Switch version, but now it's slower than normal movement speed, as for the port they increased the normal movement speed for all characters, rendering the cat-dive cancel speed trick obsolete.

@@DiagonalTanooki yeah. It's not a glitch, it's a 2D platformer Mario game mechanic. Because 3D World borrows staple mechanics of the 2D platformer Mario games, it too uses this infinite 1-up trick. Unlike most other "3D" Mario games, as they use a collect-a-thon mechanics set that Mario 64 did.
