13 pin plug pin re-alignment for caravans or trailers 

Where was this video 2 years ago when I spent 30 minutes, swearing and cussing as I couldn't get the electrics on the car??? 🤔 Such a simple fix. Thank you. Now I know for next time. 😀

3 'o clock, great tip! I got so frustrated the other day that I just took the trailer to the tip without lights.

Can’t believe this is only a day old. Was struggling in the dark and getting nowhere. Lifesaver video.

Good tips Dan Thanks. If the best trailer electrics connector humanity can make is the 13 pin plug we are in trouble.

Very useful tool, purchased mine a few years ago after not being able to hitch up at 5am one morning on our trip to Cornwall and frantically looking on the internet about what to do to re-align the plug. Like you say Dan, I have one in the car, one in the van and a spare at home

I had this exact problem only last weekend! I spent half an hour on the floor in the rain trying to get the b****y plug into the car socket. After much swearing and another caravaner coming to the rescue we got on our way. Alignment tool ordered. I needed this video on Sunday.

The wife walked away when I had connection problem I was getting a bit loud could see problem but how to short it out eventually managed to connect after 20 minutes or so and had a great weekend while away little search on RU-vid found the answer order on amazon hopefully job done thanks for your knowledge.

Lent ours to someone on site a couple of weeks ago, they had no idea the alignment tool existed. Very useful bit of kit

It happened to me about 2 years ago in Somerset luckily high bridge caravans was only 5 minutes away £3-95 I use mine when vans in storage thanks Dan👍

Hi Dan great video. I found with our old van we never had a problem whats so ever but we chopped that one in for a newer one and it's a pig nearly every time we plug it into the car but this handy little tool takes all that hassle out of what others have described a nightmare swearing 🤬 and getting all flusted you all know what I'm saying😂.it's a great tool and has you say they are cheap to buy,so well worth just having one.I keep ours in the drivers door so I can get straight to it if needed.....Good advice Dan 👍👍

Had that exact problem last Friday in the rain. Luckily I had that tool in a box in the boot, and it saved a lot of swearing. But I didn't know what the issue was, but now I do. Every day is a school day! 😊

I keep slight pressure on the plug and rotate counterclockwise until you feel it align. Then rotate clockwise as usual. Works every time. Fix the problem within seconds of discovering it. The pins inside the plug that keeps it from over rotating in the housing wear out over time, especially with new users. When they cam over the plug can still work fine.

Cheers for another useful video Dan. I noticed that in 12 on our caravan lead is noticeably recessed compared to the others. I read online that is has no function but curious if this is something you've experienced? Newby caravanners here lol

Is it also worth leaving one on when in storage to help protect the pins?

Just replaced my plug as the same as the 13 pins like the car, but I can turn the nodge with no problem and stick it in. Maybe older one's has more problems?

I've not got one of those but I've got a few teaspoons, will a butter knife work or a strong tooth pick work! Cheers matey

Mine I regard as a cap, not an alignment tool, as mine stays on all the time the caravan isn’t on the car. But then I don’t have an A frame plug storage socket. Just re popping in a spoon, watch out you a) don’t bend any of the prongs and b) don’t short anything as there could be live terminals from the caravans 12v system.
