TLOU2 I can understand the story route hate but aside from that man those graphics and gameplay is one of the most immersive of all single player games.

Totally agree with the Spiderman 2 shout. It was a good game for sure but the amount of hype before release was so crazy it was destined to be a bit disappointing

Cool video, (as always). I understand where your coming from with HFW. I'm currently doing ng+, and I'm enjoying it a lot more than my first play through. Personally I wasn't keen on the whole, aliens direction, the story went. (But I've made my peace with it). I do believe its a victim of it own success. The first game, the story, was all mystery. The 2nd, you know exactly whats going on. Still awesome but i get it. Keep up the good work mate! "In the words of shakin Steven's.....lovely stuff!"

Btw i think the story of TLOU 2 was amazing just because in the beginning i hated abby, but later i realised this world isn’t just about good and bad but often about the grey parts in between, and also just the combat man😅

The last of us 2 is not overrated man, we all knew Joe was going to die part 2 but we didn’t expect that soon in the game. The last of us is seriously a masterpiece along with red dead 2

Years ago, I played the beginning of TLOU at a friend's house. I'd seen the trailer. I knew the game was about a dude and a young girl. That premise lead me to believe that the kid I was trying to rescue in the beginning was definitely going to be ok. This was just setting up the story right? Talk about your gut-punch. I never saw that death coming. Decided right then and there that that's not what I want from my video games. I know it's great and all, but it's not for me.

Played Cyberpunk Christmas just gone and it was an amazing game, one of the best of the last decade imo

The story was a little convoluted; mixing 2 themes (forgiveness and second chances) and then forgetting to tie it all together. They were too focused on setting up the sequel. If they would have nailed the story, the side missions and other things would've been an afterthought. Hilarious shots of u cheesing at the games beforehand but then being disappointed later. U are truly made for this type of entertainment. Great job.

Most part 2’s are extended gameplay of part 1. That’s completely fine w me. If it’s not as good as the first or better. Then I’d have an issue.

Great list. As a westerner I wish they’d stop trying to cram ideologies down my throat. Just make a good game with likeable characters and a cool story, ya know like they’ve done for the past 40 plus years. It’s one of the major reason Stellar Blade is so popular right now. 👍🙂

Spider Man 2 is the biggest downward leap in terms of story line in comparison to Spider Man 1. It's just Insomniac became more ambitious, it was a lot like Spider Man 3 film, too much going on and no one knows what the hell is this!

My pick for an overhyped game that crapped out at launch is Jedi Survivor. I played about an hour and had to drop it. I knew I didn't want to experience a game I wanted so badly to love in the state they launched it in. I'll go back someday, maybe. Gratz on 50k brother!!

Yes, tlou2 was over hyped but leaving aside the amazing graphics and gameplay, the story was one of the best stories told - EVER! Those who didn’t like it most probably never understood it and like to be spoon fed to all the seemingly un logical actions the game makes us take.

I wanted to play cyberpunk so bad when it came out I did not care that it was so broken, just the soft locks was mess with me but I found a way though all that stuff

I will say this. After I platinumed and beat horizon forbidden west, I didn’t go back to it. Especially since I just wanted to finally start my other games. Very fun game. Awesome graphics and felt great. Tbvh. Felt smooth also. Maybe the story could’ve been 2-5x more better now that I think about it. That DLC felt much needed for a better ending. Haven’t played deathloop yet but I bought it. Never played forespoken, that magical game you mention or that foam crap either

Yea I can see this for most of the list, Horizon felt more like a DLC then a full game to me, Spider-Man 2 could have been better because a lot of it was meh for me on the story, I am starting to feel this way with FFVVII Rebirth too. My issue with a lot of this list is the developers push open world and fill the games with stupid and bland side quests that add nothing to the game. At my age, late 30s, I much prefer a game that is linear and has a solid story.

Horizon forbidden west had a lot of content which was halted by limited save slots for me ;(

idk your taste is like mine or what exactly but yeah those games are 1000% relied on some past and PR marketing, although they are excellent but really over hyped. agree 5000% especially for TLOU 2, any human with a moral concept will get it . it is just a mediator to pass agendas not a game for the sake of it

As someone who hates melee and loves bows & magic, HFW is still the best game ever for me. I also did find so much improvement from HND in terms of combat and QOL. Forspoken on the other hand... I'm surprised to even see it on the overhyped list since I never felt that it was hyped at all considering how it was attacked. (Undeservingly IMO since I don't think it was that bad even though it wasn't that good either.)

I got into the Arkham games very recently, im on Knight atm and ive got to say its up there with the best games I've ever played, how they went from Arkham to suicide squad I have no idea. Ive yet to play SM2, waiting for a big price drop. The woke crap is off putting.

I hate how you feel about the Last of Us. I had never heard of these games before and got a Ps5 last year. I played LOU 1 remake when it came out and then I played the LOU 2 when the recent update came out. I immediately wanted to replay the LOU 2 but watched your videos all last year and you have very strong feelings about the first one. So I replayed the LOU 1 and then I replayed the LOU 2. I put 50 more hours into the LOU 2 and like it so much more than the first one. To me the 2nd one has better gameplay(you can dodge/go prone/2 different skill trees), the story(the complexity of trying to make you feel empathy for someone that you are meant to hate at first), and it’s just longer/bigger with all the detail. It makes since why you feel the way you do because you played so much of the first one and you felt wronged by the marketing on the 2nd. It’s interesting to me that you don’t like the 2nd one because you are hurt/emotional over Joel. I forgave Abby because of how I played them I think and it gave me a unique perspective. Long story short, I want you to play the 2nd one more and try to forgive Abby and you could enjoy the game so much!!

Great video, this list is accurate, would have added Alan Wake 2, that one just got confusing to the point it annoyed me, it’s like that show ‘Lost’ it doesn’t explain anything, it only adds more confusion

man come on...Horizon Forbidden West might be the craziest technological game ever...and maybe the best PS5 game yet. The complexity of the machines and how they move... I was blown away by the amazing machines, who cares about the story when the gameplay is fun, the world is very interactive, and just immense. Graphics are pretty amazing, and textured don't get blurry up close, like they do in most games. And topping it off, the framerate running at 60 fps, the graphics take no noticeable hit in my opinion. I have not "completed" it or care if I do, I play once in a while for an hour or so, and just take in the masterpiece that it is.

I really don't care for modern gaming, i just want ps & xbox to push out more backward games - more 360, ps2 and ps3

*THE LAST OF US II* was well worth the hype, & still is tbf. Absolutely incredible imo, & i personally loved Abby’s storyline.

I'm glad I can't afford to buy new games much. After everything I have seen about Spider-Man 2, I don't really ever want to play it.

Spider man 2 was a great game that I did very much enjoy but I agree with them feeling like they played it safe and had what felt like too many filler levels I can’t help but think they left things out of the main story to save for dlc and extend the life of the game,,was a good game but I was expecting more and there will be more thankfully in DLC

my issue with the last of us 2 was just how bleak and depressing it was, and long! I had to build myself up for it because it was such a slog!! Still enjoyed it though 😊

I’m glad you mentioned Horizon. I was so disappointed and bored when playing that game, and I had to stop after about 15 hours. You know how I feel about TLOU part 2, but every other game on this list was spot on! AAA games think that just because they’ve copied the exact same formula as successful games, people will love it, but NO. We want new and interesting ideas, not the same old video game I’ve played 100 times. Also Shia Labeouf in the background really got me 😂😂

I totally agree with spider man 2. It’s a really good game but I feel like it gets a bit too repetitive despite being pretty short, the story was too predictable for me and it’s impossible for me to not compare it too the Arkham games which I still feel are superior despite being a lot older. The hype for spider man 2 didn’t help either as it was almost impossible to live up to it

Last of us 2 is an amazing game! On the others I agree

The only one I wouldn’t put in this pile is the last of us 2. Gameplay, graphics and story are leagues above the others. It is a personal choice, but I would swap that out for sure. The rest I 100% agree on. 👍🏻

Gotham knights is much better than expected tbh. I thought it’ll be worse based on the early release reviews. But a couple years later(I bought this game last your for my series x) a lot of reviews said to “not listen to the bad reviews, this game is actually very fun,” etc combat was actually very fun. Maybe the story and the tone of the game could’ve been much better and intriguing though. I can admit that. I didn’t finish the game yet but I want to so I can know the ending and have an excuse to have more and more fun with the combat. And why put TLOU2 on this list because of fake marketing and killing Joel?😂😂I get it though. I mean they had to put Joel in the trailers so people won’t know he died. I’m glad they mislead me. In glad Ellie lived most of all tbvh. Although I do miss Joel from time to time, we did only have him for one game. So I won’t hate a whole story of a game for that character, especially if it fits and makes sense. Maybe killing Tommy would’ve been better?🤷🏾‍♂️ I’m surprised several of these games are top tier/triple A games too. Like spider man, horizon and TLOU at least it’s not heavy criticism like some RU-vidrs might had, or like damn IGN. Also also. In my walkthroughs of spider man 2 I do voice my annoyance at playing as the deaf girl and Mary Jane too damn much.

I agree with all the games you listed, Last of Us had a great story & Part 2 had great gameplay but a less than stellar story. Forspoken would have been better served with a silent protagonist. Horizon FW i liked, but the story was better in Zero Dawn whilst the gameplay was better in FW.

Spiderman 2 was overhyped for sure. I enjoyed it for it was but at the time of completion I was like "Okay! That was fast". Gameplay has some great new additions but the story and characters could not connect with me. Performances were great but didn't like the way they were presented to us. I was protecting this game at first but the second playthrough made me realize things I was overlooking...😞
