I’m probably the only person who was kinda sad when Bryce died. The reason why I was sad is because he spent the whole season leading to his death making up for what he did.
Justin throwing up after hearing about Bryce death broke my heart. Because despite of everything, everything that happened between them, everything Bryce did, he was still his first brother/person who was there for him when noone was.
I love how dynamic all the characters in this show are. Nobody is 100% good or 100% bad. If you told me in season 1 that I would've cried over Bryce's death I would've been like wtf ew
@@jashuah9993 even monty didn't have it easy. Nothing justifies what he did to Tyler, but I do feel sorry for him. His dad was completely abusive and homophobic, if you may remember the scene where he had a broken arm or where his father simply came at him with a hammer and his face looked terrible? Or in prison, when the only thing he cared about that Monty did it to a boy and not to a girl? Yeah. I'm not saying Monty was a saint or anything, but he clearly did *not* deserve to get framed for murder & get killed. My opinion

As much as I HATE to say this, Justin and Bryce.. I don’t know how to explain it but they had the best friendship at first. Bryce was always there for him since 3rd grade. And when Bryce paid that guy to leave Justin alone, besides the fact that he raped multiple girls including Justin’s girlfriend (but that relationship was pretty toxic no offence) , Bryce was a true friend to Justin and everyone could tell how much Bryce cared about Justin and how much Justin cared about Bryce ( please no one give me hate )
A lot of people complained that he shouldn't be as upset over Bryce's death in season 3 and while part of that is true, realistically it's not always black and white. You showed that in this video, Great Job!!
I was even a little sad over Bryce’s death just because he spent all of season three trying to make up for everything he’s done. You can see after he listens to the tapes that he knows that he’s a monster.
Exactly thats weird asl of course he would be sad even though Bryce did some really fucked up shit they were brothers and bestfriends at some point and apart of him still cares about Bryce even though he did what he did.You cant just erase those memories and become emotionless towards that person completely.
This is amazing! It really shows just how complicated their relationship was. It shows just how manipulative it all was, but it also shows just how much Bryce meant to Justin and it showed that to some extent, Bryce probably did care about Justin in his own fucked up way. Because their friendship was mostly manipulation. It was mostly Bryce giving Justin things, like shelter and food as well as clothes and School supplies and helping with his Mum, and making him kind of depend on him for everything. The whole thing with the tie and how Bryce always tied them for him was very telling too. He never taught him how to do it for himself because it was kind of a representation of how much Justin depended on him for everything, and if he knew how to do that one simple thing for himself then there's a slight crack in that dependency because he'd kinda realise that he could learn to do these things and wouldn't need to depend on Bryce for it all. Bryce never taught him to tie a tie, but Clay did. Clay helped him do it himself instead of making him depend on him for it. There was a moment in 1x03, when Justin wakes up in Bryce's Pool House and they talk for a while. Bryce says to Justin "And Jessica. She's your girl, take care of her." Now, if you haven't seen the rest of the Season (or at least up to episode 9) then you'd think that was just him being nice and just a good guy. But then, you look back at it after finding out what happened, and it changes *everything!* He was taunting Justin about what happened, reminding him who is in control and of what happened. He was bringing it up, without actually bringing it up. He knew what it would do to Justin to hear those words, especially from him. He was reminding Justin that he hadn't protected her, and that Bryce was always going to be the one who he couldn't fight back against. It's actually a really horrible scene to look back on after watching Episode 9... I love how in the flashback, Bryce comes off as this sweet kid who just wants to help Justin. But there's also these small things that show how he became who he did. The fact that he took another kids Twinkies, because he felt entitled to, and how he gave Justin things and all that. I just think it's a really good show of how a kid like that who really did just want to help, can go one of two ways. Either stay sweet and charitable and just want to help, or he can become manipulative and decide he's entitled to more than just some other kids Twinkies. I'm really glad that the show had Justin grieve for Bryce. It really showed that feelings like that are complicated. I watch the scene where he's explaining to Clay that he's sad Bryce is dead and then goes on to remind him that Bryce was the first person to ever give a shit about him and then he ended it with saying he was his brother. Because the thing is, your brother (or sister) doesn't stop being your brother (or sister) just because they did something bad. If your flesh and blood brother (or sister) did grow up to be a bad person in some way then they're not going to stop being your brother (or sister). You cant just decide they're no longer your sibling. And I feel like it's kind of the same with how Justin feels about Bryce. No matter how much he grew to hate him, and realise how manipulative Bryce was towards him, he's never going to be able to forget the boy who gave him food and shelter, who stood up for him to the other kids at School, who made an effort and actually cared. Like Bryce said in the Police Station "I'm your brother forever, no matter what." in a way Justin betrayed Bryce (in Bryce's mind. Justin was right to speak out about what happened, when Jess was ready, anyway...) but he still helped him out and all that. It's not going to be that easy to just forget about 8 years of friendship/brotherhood. No matter how manipulative and unhealthy it got... I do love that people (Jessica and Clay) point out that Bryce was manipulative and was trying to own Justin and control him and all that. And I love that in S3, Justin kind of agrees with Clay about that, he acknowledges it in a way. Sure, he was denying that Bryce was doing that at a certain point in time, but he literally said that it was different this time. He acknowledged that Bryce was very manipulative and controlling and was giving him things and helping him out so he could own him. But it makes me happy that it's acknowledged rather than just glossed over, because it's a very big part of his character. It's a pretty big part of the show as a whole tbh… I mean, literally both of Justin's tapes were in a way Bryce's fault. Bryce sent the picture around (but Justin shouldn't have even showed it to anyone!) and then Bryce raped Jess. I makes me kind of sad that no one on the show ever mentioned that, because although Justin played parts in both those events, it was overall Bryce who *did* the things that hurt people. I was literally so happy when in 3x10, when Bryce was listening to the Tapes, and he had just heard Justin's 2nd one, he said that it should've been his Tape, not Justin's. (Though the reason it was Justin's was more to do with Hannah's own feelings of guilt and her projecting it onto Justin, because she basically did the same thing he did in that situation...) But just having someone point out that it was Bryce who raped Jess, *not* Justin, was very satisfying for me. And that it was Bryce, it just somehow made it 100x better. People often act like Justin is the one to blame for Jessica's rape, but he was a traumatised bystander. I wanna ask people this, do we think that Jess or Tyler would be able to stop someone from being raped? Or would they react similarly to Justin? I feel like that is a conversation that needs to be had either in the show or between the fans... And then later in the Tape that Bryce made Jess, how he made it clear that Justin tried to stop him. He acknowledged the pain he caused Justin more than he acknowledged the pain he caused the girls he raped, I think... (Like with how he didn't tell the Police about Tyler because he knew it would hurt Justin as well...) It was interesting. The line of "What's Mine Is Yours" has always made me *very* uncomfortable. There's just something about it that is just so manipulative. Like, in some instances, people saying it is sweet (like if they're talking about objects and possessions, but like mostly necessities and that shit. Not about people.) But Bryce saying it has always seemed manipulative and creepy and so rape-y! (There have always been theories that something happened between them at some point, like, sexually, as payment or whatever... After S3, I kinda feel like there wasn't... But before that, it actually seemed *very* likely to me...) At the Funeral, when the H.O girls protested, it killed me. Funerals are not about the dead, they're about the living who have lost someone. And then how Justin admitted to Jess that he wanted to defend him, but that he hates himself for feeling that way, I loved that. It was very realistic to me. He couldn't help but love Bryce, even when he hated them. And especially after he died, it'd be a lot harder for him to forget the good times and think all about the bad. Because people don't wanna hate on the dead (most of the time anyway...) I also loved how the Jensen's went with Justin to the Funeral. And how even though Clay had wanted to look around the house for clues about who might've killed Bryce, he offered to stay with Justin through it, because he kind of started to realise what Justin meant about being sad about his death. It just made me very happy that they all went, even though they all have every reason to hate him (Matt and Lainie are gonna hate him for beating Clay up so bad, and then obviously for everything he put Justin through. And the fact that he was a Rapist. Clay hates him for obvious reasons, and same with Justin.) but they all recognised that Justin needed them there, and so they went. And how Justin told Monty that he did love Bryce, wasn't even ashamed to admit it there, because he knows it was true and just knew he could admit it with the Team because they hadn't been hurt by him in the ways that his other friends (and girlfriend) had... Thank you for making this video! The relationship between Justin and Bryce is very interesting and one of my favourites (to look at and pick apart and analyse...) and I also love to compare it with Justin's relationship with Clay...
This ! This is why I keep posting my videos. It is so nice to see people as passionate about the show than I am. You’re right. Their relationship is extremely complex. Yes, there’s a lot of manipulation but there’s also a lot of love, between both of them. I’ll always wonder if Bryce knew how manipulative he was with Justin and even if it was a choice or if it was just the way he was. The scene with the tie that you mentionned is so great ! It reflects perfectly what you said. Justin had to lean on Bryce because that’s the way they grew up. Bryce did everything for him, was always there for him and it might have started from a genuine place of love but it shifted so badly. As Justin said, he doesn’t know how to do things without Bryce because of that. It is also one of the reason Justin felt like he couldn’t told Jess and everyone the truth at first because if he did he would loose Bryce and therefore, from his point of view, everything. The way the relationship Justin has with Clay differs so much like you said. Clay is always there to, but he would never make Justin feel like he can’t do things by himself as well. This whole scene in 1x03 is so deep on the second watch (and 3rd and 4th and so on ..) because every sentence Bryce says is so different once you know the whole story. For exemple the « You know my one rule. » … « Keep you clean. » … « Keep me clean. » . On my first watch I thought it was a funny little « bro » rule but once you know the truth it sounds more like a warning than anything else. I think in these flashbacks Bryce really is a sweet kid and he only tries to do the right thing, but yes, foreshadowing completely how twisted is moral compass is and always was. Bryce tries to do the right thing, tries to be there for his friends, until you stand in his way, like the little kid who got his Twinkies stolen. They were brothers, and always will be. Their relationship may be toxic but you can’t decide to stop loving someone just because your brain tells you too. Of course Justin is really conflicted about it and he shows/says it at multiple times but at the end of the day, you can’t kill feelings. Clay and Jess are the two people (with Zach and the Jensens as a whole in more minor ways) who can give Justin exactly what he needs without any sort of manipulation. I’m really excited to see what’s next for both of these relationships. What happens to Justin now that he has a chance to live with unconditionnal love without any form of manipulation ? Like Tony said about the tapes, in a way they are all Bryce’s. It was so important for Bryce to listen to them not only to realize what he did to Hannah and Jess but to Justin too. You said that no one mentionned the fact that Bryce send the picture around but actually Jess did say it to Hannah when she tried to warn her about Justin (« Bryce is the one who send the photo. ») in 1x09. I agree with you on the fact Justin was « just » a traumatised bystander. I feel like season 3 Jess or end of season 3 Tyler would try to stop it because they are in a place were they feel stronger and kind of accepted what happened and are trying to move on. Justin on the other end didn’t really « delt » with what happenned to him until this season which explains why he froze and didn’t try harder to stop Bryce. Witnessing a rape and being violently pushed out of the room was too much trauma for Justin to deal with at the time. Any of these 3 characters would act diferently based on when it would happen I think. I never saw any theory mentionning a possible sexual relationship between the two and I don’t think it happenned. What made you think it could have happenned at some point ? Just curious. The H.O. protest was such a bad idea. I loved the fact that a lot of people showed up, including people who didn’t love Bryce, because at the end of the day they all saw good in him at one point. The conversation between Charlie, Justin and Monty is really interesting for this reason. I loved that the Jensens (especially Clay) were there for Justin as well, but Jessica too. Justin felt so bad and ashamed to tell her he wanted to defend Bryce at his funeral but she understood and she told him that he shouldn’t feel bad about himself for this. You’re welcome ! I might do a Justin / Clay video but not until the next season is out. I’m pretty sure there are going to be some great scenes to edit in it.

There were definitely a lot of reasons Justin didn't tell anyone what happened with Bryce and Jess for so long. I mean, one being that he knew he'd lose them both (and he did lose Jess for a while, lucky he got her back!) another probably being that he knew what she was gonna go through if she found out, and he didn't want that for her. But also, after hearing Hannah's Tapes, realising that being raped is what pushed Hannah over the edge. Maybe he was scared Jess would react similarly. Just a thought. The thing with Clay and Justin, I feel like right now it's healthy and good, but it would be so easy for it to become toxic. For example, when they said they'd do anything for each other (I loved that scene and it was so sweet!) it kinda worried me a bit. Like, with most people I feel like there is a line they'd draw, but with those two, I can just see there being literally no line... (Plus, I'm pretty sure Justin tried to get Seth to murder someone for him..? I think that's what he meant when he said he thought he could get rid of his Dealer...) But yeah. They're healthy now, and good for each other. But it wouldn't take much for them to become dangerously co-dependent, I don't think... There are a lot of things that change after watching the whole thing, but that's a big one for me (as well as that episode in 1x12? Where Jess says to Justin "And I want you to understand what it's like to be raped. But I truly hope you never do." because he already did and it just breaks my heart!) just, you realise that Bryce is really good at manipulating people, and that he actually kind of manipulated us! I mean, until that scene later in episode 3 in the shop with Hannah, I'm pretty sure most of us thought he was actually a decent person... Yeah. He was definitely a sweet kid just trying to help, but you can totally see how he became who he did. Just the fact that he felt entitled to take the Twinkies from the kid was really telling. And I actually believe that if Jess had said she wanted him to at the end of S1, he would've attempted to kill him like he said he would... He was very genuine in that in my opinion, and the fact that after he told Jess the truth he completely lost it and Zach had to hold him back just makes me believe it even more that he would've tried to kill him. (Who knows if he'd succeed...) They're definitely the people he needs most right now, and they're all very good for him (though like I said, if they're not careful, their relationships could probably quite easily turn rather toxic...) It will definitely be interesting to see how it goes in S4 (if they don't finalise the Adoption though... I will Riot and I know I'm not the only one...) Yes, Jess mentioned it to Hannah in 1x09. But what I meant is have someone properly mention the fact that both Justin's tapes were actually because of something Bryce did... I just think it's rather telling of the nature of their relationship tbh… Yeah. I think by the end of S3 they probably would try to stop it, and would hopefully succeed without some sort of Panic Attack or whatever. But before they had worked through their Trauma in any way, they definitely wouldn't have been able to. I mean, Jess had a Panic Attack getting changed (completely understandable and this isn't like, an attack or anything!) and Tyler freaked out whenever anyone touched him (again, understandable!) so I don't think that they would've been in any condition to stop someone from being raped... Justin hadn't worked through any of his trauma, he hadn't told anyone (as far as we know. I wouldn't be surprised if Amber kind of knew to some extent and just didn't really care...) and he just hadn't really accepted what had happened to him. He totally had a Panic Attack because of it, and no one can convince me otherwise... I've seen it a lot. But that's mostly just on Fanfiction sites tbh… Some people speculated that their relationship just seemed too manipulative and the whole "What's Mine Is Yours" line just seemed very rape-y in some ways... Idk, I think I just read too much Fanfic... ;-P The Protest made me sick, and I felt so bad for Bryce's parents (even Mr Walker, who I cant stand!) and loved ones. There was a shot where you can see Justin (and maybe Charlie?) holding Monty back in the background, and I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be a shot of it's own (because there are pictures of it that are far more close up) and I just loved it for some reason... The conversation was so interesting. Justin telling Charlie that, no, Bryce hadn't changed and that the same person who was nice to him, was also a terrible person (in different words, considering they were at his Funeral...) and Justin admitting he loved Bryce (and Monty refusing to admit it because he was so in love with him... Or just because he was gay and paranoid... But I'm pretty sure he was in love with him, at least at some point...) Jess being there and understanding was great! She had every reason to tell Justin that grieving Bryce wasn't right considering what he did, but she understood that he couldn't help it. And I think she might've grieved a bit too. I mean, at one point they were (kind of) friends too. It's all so complicated... And Clay being there was so sweet! :) Yay! I'll be looking forward to it! I'm sad that there are no edits of Justin and the Jensen's tbh… Just, all four of them as a family.

I’m sorry for all Clay and Justin Bro Shippers but Bryce and Justin are the actual Bromance in this series, people claim that Bryce only used Justin and bought him things to control him but that wasn’t it, Bryce saw someone who was like him, alone, fucked up, and had no love in the world, he saw a friend in him and then a brother to him, he loved Justin unconditionally, he didn’t care how much money he wasted, he helped Justin regardless and been with him since day one and was one of the only parts of Justin that made him feel like he had an actual family or a brother, in season 3 it shows how much in a depth Justin loved Bryce and how much bryce regrets everything he done, espionage to the one person he loved and cherished the most out of everyone (Justin), these two were brother and will always be brothers ❤️
What I see is someone who started out just caring for Justin, wanting to help out the kid because he recognised his pain. But then as they grew, it became very manipulative and he realised that he could use him because in both their minds Justin owed him for everything he'd done for him, and it just became very unhealthy. He did care about Justin to an extent, yes, but that didn't stop him from using and manipulating him, and he definitely cared more about himself. But then in S3, after realising he lost everything and that Justin had actually been really important to him, he started to regret what happened, because he'd lost everything. He wanted to make it up to everyone, and be friends again, but what he didn't really realise was that he hurt them all way too much for them to ever be friends again. So yes, I do believe he cared, but I also believe their friendship was far too toxic and just wasn't healthy at all. Justin's relationship with Clay is so much healthier and better for everyone involved.
They both had different relationships. Bryce took care of him when he couldnt count on anyone, Clay took care of him when he couldnt even count on himself

Y’all lucky they only showed flashbacks of his friendship with Justin cause if they did the whole tapes thing with bryces story I think everybody would’ve looked at Bryce a lot more differently and would’ve gave insight into how he became the way he was
Justin, his mom, ani, he genuinely liked Hannah before she rejected him and she was the only person who understood him, Tyler, and until he felt betrayed by those people he fiercely cared about them and protected them with everything he had
This just shows, how one wrong move can completely destroy your relationship with someone. And it doesn't matter how much you care and love them, what's done can't be undone.

Yes, he raped and assaulted many girls, including Hannah and Jessica, (which there’s no excuse for) but I do believe that towards the end in Season 3 he realized how fucked up and how much of a monster he had become. I really think he thought he could change and that he was trying to, but it was already too late.
Though Bryce Walker & monty were evil they shouldn't be dead, the writers should have developed the plot and maybe should have made S5 where they learn their mistakes and shown their actual change where they were accepted and had become good guys. The writers fucked up the story. I hated that they showed Bryce changing for good then all of a sudden in the last episode he again becomes this bad guy. Whatever it's still fictional but I can't digest it lol.
He did. He did a lot of fucked up things, yes, but everybody deserves a second chance. Everybody deserves the chance to recognize the mistakes they’ve made, and they deserve to start over.

their relationship is so complicated. i believe bryce cared about justin. i know he was a terrible person and i mean really how much can you really care about someone if you rape their girlfriend, but i believe he thought of him as his brother no matter what. i think since justin didn’t have too many people in his life who cared about him and who were there for him, when bryce did, he felt a sense of loyalty to him. it was so sad that after everything he lost, and after everything with his mom not caring about him, he lost the two people who he thought cared about him. people are quick to judge justin, but at that party, hannah let it happen too. he was scared to call the cops and lose his best friend who was there for him through everything and he was scared for his girlfriend and he just froze. he shouldn’t have lied, but he didn’t know what to do. he knew if he did, he’d be losing the first person who actually cared about him his entire life and if he didn’t, he was hurting his girlfriend who he loved. it was a very messed up situation and justin made mistakes too, but bryce was the one who raped her. i just feel so bad for justin and also am so conflicted about their friendship
