The show is extremely good, glad I read the book or else I wouldn't have watched the show

Best TV show I've watched in a while

It's such an important show almost everyone should see. Some scenes were hard af to watch but the show is so worth it. It's not afraid to talk about (and even show fairly vividly) the hard stuff like rape and suicide, but it also shows how much the "little" things can impact a person's life. I have mixed thoughts about parts of it but overall it is so amazing and important. Added to my top shows because it wasn't afraid to deal with tough stuff in a very real way and because of how it impacted me.

Dear Person reading this, I might not know you, let alone seen you before, but I just wanted to tell you that you do matter. I may not have 13 tapes or 13 reasons, but one reason you need to know is that, you're here for a reason. Your parents had you for a reason, even if you were unexpected or put is the foster system, every little cell inside you was made for a reason. Maybe you might cure cancer, or something more minor like bring your school together and stop bullying once and for all. You do matter. I was made for a reason, my sister was made for a reason, everyone was made for a reason. I don't know you, but you matter to me. I'm just a stranger on RU-vid, but sometimes, when you're too scared to tell anybody what has been happening, maybe someone anonymous might help. I care. Even if you've had a horrible past, I care. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who cares. Your friends, your family, shit even your damn pet cares. You matter, and if you don't feel like you do, you matter. You fucking matter. Sincerely, everyone who loves you.

each episode was gut wrenching...schools in america are so different...i really dont get the obsession with mean people being popular...how does that ever happen...but still the stories were pretty relatable

This is an idea I got just now. This series should have 3 seasons only. S1: Hannahs suicide. S2: Solving the cliffhangers and leading the story to the end.. S3: Showing like a sort of spin off, without Hannah recording the tapes and moving on with her life, like, what would have happened if she was still alive and how would things should have ended so the younger audiences can learn that life gets better somehow. LISTEN TO ME NETFLIX!

I've never cried so much over a show. It shows EVERYTHING it doesn't just "imply" what happens. Season 2 pls chop chop

Rather than a second season continuing Hannah's story, they should have either a single epilogue episode or an epilogue series--dedicating an episode to each character, giving each of them a resolution.

The show was amazing. I cried so much throughout the entire show. It made me feel like I was in the show.

That was really nice to watch. I never thought I would be crying over a Netflix video but here I am doing exactly that.

I just finished watching this show and it's impossible not to feel so related when you've been trough so much like Hannah and sometimes feel there's no other way but to quit once and for all, in that moment it's so easy to think in taking the most easy way. But with this show i felt like everything will eventually be ok and that there's so much to live for and so much amazing people to meet that it's worth living, thank you for helping me a lot by making this show. Just perfect.

Depression: what it feels like You can’t feel anything, but an ache or a longing for something. But you don’t know what that something is. You can laugh. But you’re not really laughing. You can smile but if someone were to look deeper into your eyes. They’d disappear into nothing. You disappear into nothing. And if you are alone with your thoughts. Your lost in sea. It may seem empty, but something is luring you in deeper and deeper. And then it’s so dark you can’t describe what your feeling. To some people it’s nothing, to others THERE IS NOTHING. There’s a difference. By then you want to tell someone but you feel foolish and angry with yourself. You begin to isolate yourself. If no one knows, no one can get hurt. I can’t explain to people what is happening to me. They don’t care. People have bigger problems, you say all these things, but although that is true, your problem matters. No matter how small. -it will be okay.

I love this show, but this here is amazing! More people need to share with their friends/family what they mean to you... you never know how much they need to hear it..

Does anyone else get a life is strange vibe from this show? Or is it just me? I mean look at the music and the story, reminds of it a lot.

Thank you Netflix for making this show, I'm 30 years old and I had a rough time in school as well but had no one to care about, If I have seen this show when I was little, my whole life would be different, I'm sure this is helping lots of kids right now, and I thank you for that from the bottom of my heart.

*This is such an amazing show.* ❤ I just finished the last episode... And I had quite a reaction to the suicide scene. My heart was pounding and I felt physically sick, I had to pause it and take a break. TV/movies have *never* made me feel that way before. But I'm glad I finished it because it was so powerful. I hope the show wins some awards, they deserve it! Congrats to everyone who had a part in making this show so amazing. I hope it helps anyone who has ever been in similar situations, or has thought of suicide.

This got me balling over here. This is sincerely so beautiful and I love the message behind it. It is so important to express the way someone makes you feel because you never know how they are feeling. Sometimes people just need to be reminded of their place in other people's lives and their importance to motivate them and give them a reason to be strong and stay here with us all. These letters weren't for me but they really touched me and I wish someone would be so truthful like them to me.

Sigh, this brings tears to my eyes because i truly know how it feels to go through this. My whole life and ongoing I have suffered from bully's and depression. My mother has a mental illness so she would never know how I feel. I go to a very bad school and so when I finally think I have made a good friend they betray me and become a total jerk to me and it makes me even more sad. I've never had a true friend and this video just warms my heart. Im only 12 but I would know how this feels.

This video got me so emotional. The message is such an important one that my friends and I decided to write us these letters too. There won't be thirteen reasons every time, but knowing that there are at least some reasons why you matter is a great thing to always think of when you're upset or if you're just not sure who you are.

I went through this with my daughter Becky DeVore and it destroyed our family completely. I don't think she realized that she would destroy so many lives along with her own in a impulsive moment. If you are considering suicide please think twice because you're not only destroying your precious life but many lives around you forever. I have never recovered from her death in 03. Lastly the schools systems completely ignore this issue of suicide and brush in under the rug when it happens. There is not a lot of support out there like some of these show depict.

When I moved away from home (6 hour flight away) my sister wrote me a letter like that and she had me bawling my eyes out the whole flight (she told me not to read it until I was on the plane). I still have it and read it all the time when I need a pick-me-up. It was really special to me because she is 8 years older than me so growing up I always had a feeling that maybe she didn't feel close to me as she was always much older and in a different stage of life. Knowing how much she really cared about me just made me realize that no matter what the age difference is, our siblings are always our #1 fans

It's a book, and now has become a TV Series of Netflix, that not only leaves you to see what Hannah Baker suffered in a lot of time, before taking the option or alternative of committing suicide, but also it makes you feel and perceive every sensation of the story, and all Hannah's feelings too..... Fear, loneliness, sadness, shame, anger, but above all, pain. Ever not only because she lived through it, but thinking, what would you make if you were in Hannah's situation? Or much worse, What would you do if you were in the situation of one of the 13 persons who are the reasons of Hannah Baker's suicide? It takes us, not only to enjoying a program of entertainment, but the most important, to feeling the story as if it was ours, to living and experiencing all these emotions and feelings as if they had happened to you, happen to you, or will happen to you. Or even, if it is someone of your family, of your friends, of your class or workmates, or acquaintances, and it leads you to thinking not only how you treat the others, but also how they treat you, and if you feel that there is some problem, speak it with someone who could understand and understand your situation, it doesn't matter if he or she, is an expert, or not, in psychology or psychiatrist, not only to judge her for what is seen or is obvious from out. Talk about what you feel, if you need it, with someone who can help you or bring you help. The Suicide should not be an option. You are not alone. Just talk about it if you really feel that you need it with someone who you really trust. PostScript (P.S.): I Really hope that you could understand the story and the reflected emotions that it leaves, both; the book, and the series, taking into account, that this also happens in real life. Man that final episode was to much for me to handle. I literally fainted under the suicide scene, it was just too real and too much to take in at that moment. It's so sad to think that there are people going through this all over the world. This serie should honestly be shown in high schools all over the world because I really think it would have huge impact on kids. This is a serious issue and nobody should be treated like that. 13 reasons why gets s 10/10 from me and could really be a life saver for many people out there.

I haven't watched 13 reasons why but I'm crying my eyes out, especially because of the twin boys since my own twin died in my mother's womb and all my life I've felt so incomplete. Dumb, I know, but losing someone who was supposed to have a chance really opens up your eyes.

Wish I had someone I could trust and talk to

This makes me sad because I don't have any brother or sister and I don't have friends, I can't watch it. These people are so lucky to have someone.

I've contemplated suicide off in on since I was 11 and was hospitalised in May of 2016. It wasn't for bullying but me hating myself for mistakes. Though I am on medication now I still have bad periods. If you're ever in that dark place call someone and just vent until you're calmer and remember your life matters and most issues dissolve over time.

This video was awesome and I will be sharing it with my daughters. I know this show has had lots of controversy but coming from someone who has tried to commit suicide years ago, struggles with anxiety & depression, and has a daughter who suffers as well after she was molested by a step brother I think the show is great. I recommend people to watch it with your kids and open up a conversation about it afterwards. I never had family I could talk to so I made sure my kids always felt comfortable coming to talk to me. My daughter told me she was having thoughts and why & I was able to get her the help she needed. I truly believe if parents would watch this with their kids and have a conversation it would help a lot of children. But that is just my opinion. If anyone up here reads this just know you are loved and I pray you have a wonderful life ✌❤😊

if you are currently reading this and have not watched the show aka "13 reasons why" I really recommend to u to watch it. some scenes might be really hard to watch but u can realize how one word can affect someone so deeply to the point they just cant. I think Hannah should eventually survive in the second season (if there is going to be one). It can have sort of a PLL vibe to it where Hannah hides in a place that was sentimental to her. Since she has gone through so many things, I bet she can also dig herself out of a grave. Clay could be the one hiding her and he would face the difficulty to hide her during the second season (or even more). Some of you might think stealing a part of PLL would be a terrible idea, but it isn't. In PLL, we didn't see who got to experience hiding the girl, plus the plot can be twisted a bit since PLL doesn't own the idea of escaping a grave. I hope this gets to the top comments so we could capture the eye of some of the producers, writers, directors, or even actors/actresses.

Honestly the TV show was even better than the book. I would score the book a solid 8/10 but the TV show was at least a 9.
