Sour Apple I used to wear cute socks with my uniform when I was in high school but I haven’t been able to wear them as much since my style has changed :( but this videos actually inspired me even if my style is completely opposite
Last month I bought A LOT of socks bc they are really cute and a lot of them are just to better express myself with my style. I also bought a bunch of cute bows to make easy hairstyles!
I totally wish I could dress kawaii, but there are absolutely NO stores anywhere nearby that sell these things. There's no way I could shop online. These people are greedy and WAY overprice everything. I understand that it can be an expensive style, but 30-40$ for a simple pleated skirt, or plain blouse is just too much. I also don't have an income yet, and mostly rely on my parents for clothes. They'd never pay that much. 😫
Making your own clothes using fabric around the house and from thrift stores is also fun. If you don't have a sewing machine, turn on a good movie, get you a dollar pack of needle and thread, and go at it!
Like a lot of people are saying thrifting is great for finding cute clothes! You’ll probably never find any like Sanrio character stuff or the stuff in this video but you can totally find cute overalls, blouses, or just plain pastel or bright patterned/colored clothes. Also like Mikan mentioned in this video, it’s also important how you wear the clothes (tucked in or out, making shorts high waisted or not) and accessories are super easy to find for cheap or to even make!
At this point idk my style anymore ksksks like i like grunge styles, but i also like retro, but i also wanna dress very cute aAAHHH Also, i appreciate what you said about not having to be a certain size to dress like this, it honestly made me emotional because I'm not too confident in my own skin and because of that I dont usually wear what I'd like to, but thank you for leaving that message
This video made me literally cry lol. At 14 years old I’m a size 10 and I find myself constantly comparing myself to everyone else. But this genuinely made me realise that style is individual, and helped me feel so much more happy with my own skin. Thank you so much ❤️
I worried so much about my weight when I was your age. Bodies come in all shapes and sizes, and fashion is a great way to celebrate the wonderful-you that ya are. Have fun with it! Your body is a marvelous machine; take good care of it and dress however makes you happy!
Hey I’m a size 8-10 and honestly sometimes I wish it would be easy to put outfits together as if I was thin. But honestly there is nothing wrong with our size, we are more curvy and it just takes a bit longer to look for something that fits the way we might want it to but you will be fine. I really hope you don’t think you are too big, don’t be sad ❤️ you are perfect the way you are
I’m from middle east and this is my ultimate favorite style ! And saying “kawaii” is not cringy because this is the only word that can describe this style 😹💕 , I LOVE kawaii fashion video 💓💓💓🎀
Finally a “kawaii style” video with a coherent explanation I can understand! Thank you so much for the examples those tips are super helpful! Now I feel more confident in how to dress myself in the cute style! Love ya and please keep on being awesome💖💖 I’d love to see more style videos or look books. Those are super fun and give me lots of ideas on how to dress myself :)
My dad sees this style as too provocative, but I think the way you framed this tutorial of how to style and conventionally wear the items is a fantastic video to show him to make him more at ease with the individual pieces I might pick up and he may see on their own in the laundry. (I live at home and sometimes certain pieces, like the frilly shorts or short poofy skirt you showed may look slightly stipper-ish to him without context and he gets iffy about that stuff) It's been the root of many an argument, but I think this video might help that.
Everything shes wearing is too provocative tho lol its nice and sexy cute but not ideal for everyday i think. Or for where i live at least, small towns
@@Demi.d3mi why would you feel the need to influence the way I dress because of how *you* feel about the style? I get it enough from home, I'm just trying to be myself. I'd appreciate it if people didn't try to sway my opinion on something so trivial as wearing a skirt.
The way I look at it is, if I'm wearing shorts underneath a short skirt/dress then not only do I not care about people seeing up my skirt, but if anyone was fucked up enough to look under I'd just lift my skirt and say, "what were you expecting?". They're the ones that look like pussies in the end. As for being attacked, Idk man I don't think someones about to attack a 5'10" 170lbs girl just because she's wearing a provocative skirt. Tall and strong girl privilege I guess? idk.
M- Mind blowing I- Intellegent K- Keep it up A- Amazing N- Nice girl i've ever seen Mikan if you liked my comment please reply me i am your biggest fan
imo a really fun thing to do is go thrifting for clothes and then alter them, for example adding your own frills/lace to thrifted shirts/skirts/pants and stuff. It's a good way to learn a new skill (sewing) and be able to make really nice clothes that are unique to you :)
@@user-lb8se3ck8o I agree with this, and even better if you can find an outlet where you can pay by the pound instead of per piece. It's very cheap and there's so much clothing you'll be sure to find something.
The one thing I've always been insecure about is my height. I am almost 5'8 and honestly feel like I'm too tall for everything and for it to be "cute" on me lol. I'm still working on getting out of my comfort zone though. I love this video though! You look so cute in everything!
@@バカ-g9b don't push yourself to hard to were you like the clothes but don't feel comfortable but make yourself believe your comfortable honestly my friends is around the same height as you and she loves wearing cute clothes that litterly all she wears Hope you start to feel comfortable so that you can wear the things you love
I’m also a Middle Eastern girl and i wear this style everyday But I prefer to wear all pink☺️baby pink is my favorite color but i honestly worship all pastel colors
Thank you sensei! I love cute and feminine fashion. Asian fashion has so much cute stuff but I think it s a pity that most of it is asian onesize which just doesn t fit my height and curves. In summer I wear a lot of dresses, lolita dresses in casual coords and prints. The main thing is really to enjoy your fashion! Also I love how well spoken you are and how nicely you explain, present and coord of course.
@@mikanmandarin it s really discouraging and sometimes the dresses are just wider but not longer so what do tall japanese girls wear? I watched a documentary saying only a low percentage of japanese are overweight so they don t have a large market but it s so unfair really. My weight fluctuated due to medications and it s the worst feeling to walk in a store and don t fit the clothes! And my boyfriend is really tall so he has issues to find clothing even here. People come in an sizes.
I had to search "what is a pinafore" I'm such a noob when it comes to fashion terminology >..< but thank you for keeping your subscribers in mind mikan and for addressing that its ok no matter what size or shape you are
frkle I only moved to japan just over a year ago and before then always dressed in this style, most of the stores mentioned are online stores! If you scroll back on my Instagram to before October 2017 you’ll find I was wearing stuff like this (or actually a bit more extra) in the UK before I’d even visited japan!
みかんMikan I’m sorry if offended you at all(just in case), but I was joking just that online takes ages to ship and most of these cute clothes come from overseas and in Japan you can just walk outside and find a million cute store with the most dainty pieces, would love to go there one day but thanks for the video mikan I hope your day is well ! 💗💗
Oh no I was just worried you were feeling discouraged because you don’t live in japan, I didn’t want you to feel like this style wasn’t accessible, don’t worry at all! Thank you for watching my videos
Awww this video made me cry... but with happy tears!!! I really like your positivity!! It really helps me with my insecurities!!! Thank you for every kind word you’re saying!!! 💗💗
TIP: double over a small elastic around your belt before putting it on, then you can almost unnoticeably tuck your extra belt length under the elastic, instead of having to trim the end off! Lots of love!💕❤️
Your voice is so soothing!! These were really great tips, and not just for the kawaii style but in general for styling. I'm crazy about layering, I love buying shirts that I can layer under dresses or other shirts and adding different feels to my outfits. And it makes sense that kawaii style isn't as common as we think. It's like the Instagram baddie style or the goth style here in America--you don't really see the average person walking around like that
I love how you layer socks with fishnets!! It looks so good on you ❤ I definitely need to buy more plain pieces like white blouses and pleated skirts. Your Instagram always gives me so much inspiration to try harder with my style~
As a poc person 1:12 gave me serotonin, because I always doubt that I’ll look good in certain things I find online or in stores due to lack of poc models and such. So this just helps clear up that doubt in my stress filled mind :)
thank you for these tips! I actually thought my parents would think the kawaii style is weird, and that I wouldn't be allowed to wear it (especially since my mom is Asian), but I showed her and she loved it! then I showed my dad and he said it was very original! (lol). I am glad they are ok with it XD
im an artist and sometimes its really hard to come up with outfits, so if I ever need inspiration, I can always come here since your fashion sense is on point! love your stuff keep up the good work!
Cute is too broad. American idea of cute: olaf and minions. Those are hideous compared to characters like hello kitty or pikachu. They are very distinctly different.
Adorable! I've been giving kawaii a shot, though I don't quite have the look- giving it a spin anyway as I grew up watching anime in the 90s- you definitely helped drive home some points then I've been flirting with and your outfits are super cute! Subscribing 😁
I love everything about kawii style since when I was 9 years old I’m 14 now I dress in all black but watching you’re vids make me wanna buy cute clothes 🥲❤️ thxxx I love you’re videos
I love this style but always feel intimidated because everyone always seems highly accessorized which is something I don’t care to put the effort into. It was nice to see that you were extremely cute but most of your statements were in the clothing and pairing themselves! I loooove this because it gives me ideas that I could actually stick to!
me being young and still needing my parents approval of my clothes; My parents: You can only buy from Amazon and well known brands >:c No random Japanese things got it? Me: >:c My parents: You need to look normal! Me: Haha there is still kawaii stuff on amazon >:D
I really love your voice! You have a very good intonation and pronunciation, and you voice tone is perfect! Good vibes Mikan! Greetings from Santiago, Chile! x x
ive been following u on insta for a while and i didnt know u had a youtube!! so when i saw this on my recommended i just had to see it !! idk why,,,but u sound like disney princess its really cute !!! i love how genuinely wholesome you are it warms my heart??
I'm a guy and I dress like this. I always felt bad about the way I dressed but I just discovered your channel and feel way better. Keep up the good work.
I've seen kawaii fashion dark girls on Instagram, I'm not sure on how to give you tips but it's totally possible to rock the style with every skin color, try to look it up online
@@MariaLuiza-tp2dc well ya, but that is for, like very dark skin colors. Mine is like YELLOW with sucks bcus I just look awful in pastel colors.. I kinda look sick or something
I really love your channel as we have the same fashion style and I tend to struggle finding other youtubers with a style like mine. It really inspires me to stop being so afraid of dressing like this as you look STUNNING! But as I have really bad social anxiety I feel like everyone is going to judge me and criticize me... Though I decided it's time to change for the better at 17! From the next school year I am going to wear clothes in my style instead of jeans with a hoodie (and the hoodie actually on) and be confident in it, even if I struggle at first. I'm going to start with at least 2 days a week! Also going tk try a kawaii summer when quarentine ends with my wardrobe thanksgiving for inspiring me! 💕💕💕
These tips are really good but its just hard to find clothes in my size that fit good with these kawaii brands. Also kawaii shoes don't really exists for my feet (EU42 lol). I'm still trying to expand my wardrobe with kawaii items. :)
Honestly, no ones gonna care what you wear at school I mean ya your friends are going to be surprised but I'm pretty sure real friends would compliment you, I remember I was wearing a skirt to school for the first time and I was so scared of people judging me but once my 2nd class ended I was completely fine and now I wear skirts almost everyday at school so all you need is confidence :')
Thank you so much Mikan! You made me wear what i want without being scared about what others would think of me. My country is WAY TOO CASUAL! like, we only wear jeans with a white t-shirt. Thats why i was scared wearing tigh high socks. But GOSH when i looked in the mirror i felt so CUTE! Without Mikan i would never DARE
I loveeee the kawaii style so much, too! 😊 I wish for myself that i can wear this kind of clothes, but i am sometimes scared for that! ...but i saw that sweater what i really want on 4:58! Can you tell me from where you've got this? I really want to buy that kind of sweaters! 💜🎀 ..I love those pastel colours together so much! 💕
