Hi Cath. Thanks for your comment. Because the metal is encased in the mwk it is safe. The only reason you cant put metal in a microwave oven normally is because the microwaves bounce off the metal back into the microwave oven itself which is dangerous. In a mwk the mwk absorbs the microwaves to create the heat, they do not pass through the mwk, so do not reach the metal. Hope this helps :)
Thank you for sharing your process. I was especially interested in how you used the dremel cutting wheel. Approximately how long did you do the firepolish & was it on full power? Inquiring minds want to know😊. Thanks a bunch.
Hello Gunner. I dont remember where I got it from it was a long time ago, sorry but it is called MagicFuse. I used to have one of the small fuseworks ones and I used to get a lot of breakages. I find the magicfuse one is more controllable with less shocking to the glass. :)
Hi Ilene. I have had it a long time and it has worn off but I think its 700 watt. Just to say the size of your microwave kiln will also affect the timings. I had a smaller one originally and the fusing was much faster in that. Hope this helps.
They are called Dupont kevlar power of performance . I found them here on ebay usa www.ebay.com/itm/New-100-Kevlar-DuPont-Fiber-Cloth-Glove-Yellow-Cut-Resistant-Power-Performance-/224008455296 and these on ebay uk www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Safety-Gloves-Industrial-Home-Work-Use-Made-In-Kevlar-Cut-Resistant-All-Sizes/124281699397?hash=item1cefc43c45:g:45IAAOSwKX1gT0-l seem to be the same. Hope it helps :)
Hello Grazia. Thank you for your comment. You need to fire polish it in the kiln. Details in my video and schedule in the description. You must soak it first in vinegar and water as detailed in the video too. Hope this helps
Hi Shane. When you have rough edges on a piece (after grinding for example), a fire polish literally polishes the piece to make it smooth again without changing the shape of the piece. Hope that helps :)
Hi Lyn. I used one once and it broke. However, I know it is possible to use one because many people do. I would just advise to heat gently to start off with, maybe at 30% or 40% or 50% heat for a few minutes, and gradually increase. The alternative is stainless steel cookie cutters which you can use in the mwk. :)
Hello Kathy. I use E6000, please see my video number 11 which shows you how I do the gluing for the best results. Also in video 3 I show where I get my bails very cheaply and how I choose what bails to use. :)
Unless you know what your glass is, you would have to experiment to see if each piece is compatible with each other piece. The most common coes are 90 coe and 96 coe and they don't play well together. Bullseye, for example, sells 90 coe glass. Spectrum (now Oceanside) is normally 96 coe.
