Every Thanksgiving holiday break, I post a video on both Thursday and Friday, because there's never anything to do on the day after Thanksgiving. Enjoy
Some very awesome games on this list indeed. Violinist of Hameln is one of my favorite games on the Super Famicom and SNES, it's the complete package of great graphics, sound and gameplay. One SuFami game I'd recommend if you haven't tried it already is Nangoku Shounen Papuwa-kun, it's another great platformer by Enix.
Awww what to do on this Friday, alone at home, wife & little daughter away, rainy sky over Paris...? Oh la la! a new video from Snes Drunk! Thanks for the gift (watching while eating my baguette)!!
I'm a little surprised the Parodius games made #1 on your list considering the slew of incredibly bizarre games you mentioned that I hadn't even heard of. I'm definitely impressed you found so many weird games I didn't know. Most videos I see about weird games begin and end with Cho Aniki and Katamari :p
Oh my god I have been searching for Gegege no Kitarou: Fukkatsu Tenma Daiou for at least the past two decades. I remember some side-scrolling game on the SNES I used to play at my grandmother's house in Taiwan when I was a kid that was all in Japanese and some brown-haired kid shoots power out of his hair. I had started to think I was misremembering some details or made the entire thing up in my mind. I can die in peace now thanks to you.
I love this channel. Very good channel for rare gems and notable titles. Love the rom hack and fan translation recommendations... so much time saved selecting titles to play, thank you for sharing...
There is no game in my 33 years on this planet that I have played more than Gradius 3. I actually consider it to be one of the most perfect games ever made. This video was incredibly worth the watch for me to learn about parodius! Majyuuou looks right up my alley too
Oh man. This game dont need any translation to play( just one or two stage need to buy or do something to clear). This game is the best of this franchise! Too many estern egg to find. Many many... There is even a funny chapter( like hidden map but alot. Lol) to play. There is many mini game to play too( iirc there is gradivus game in it!)
@@nguyenhuyduc9151 I know man and this is precisely why it needs a translation lol. I was goofing around the game at 9 or 10 year old and somehow managed to get to the last chapter without knowing what I was doing. Last time I played it I got stuck at chapter 2 where the guards are guarding a pathway in the city, couldnt figure what to do.
@@10vitesse you need to buy a gate pass, which can be bought at shop near that gate. Back to my day, snes console is extreme expensive, so in my country there are a lot of children play one game at the same time (on snes hacked console). So we play as a small legion to finish one game. Lol. That why ganbare goemon 2 is simple game back in my day. Im not that good, just that "legion" finish game. Some kids can kill the mechaboss, some kids can clear the castle stage, and sometimes miracle happen and random kid can kill the last boss!
the thing I like about the Parodius games is that they realized you can make the little space ships into anything and they just went full tilt with that idea. Like they all have mechanically similar levels and bosses but they're totally different in style between games and that's so cool. Mario does that some times but they should do it more lol. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for showcasing Ghost Sweeper Mikami and Illusion of Gaia. One day could you do a video about Kamaitachi No Yoru or Otogirisou?
I like see a channel that still make SNES content, i find here really good games Thanks AND happy Thanksgiving PD.: i like it if you could you make a top Puzzle SNES games
Hmm, fun facts for Parodius. The first one (Parodius: The Octopus Saves the Earth) was only released for MSX in Japan, the Second one (Parodius! From Myth to Laughter) is the Arcade game that got several ports (one of the first ones being for Snes), the third one (Fantastic Journey) being another Arcade game was released on Snes and PS1 and the fourth one (Jikkyō Oshaberi Parodius Forever With me) got a release on Snes and PS1 with the fifth one (Sexy Parodious) not getting a Snes version, only PS1 and other 32bit consoles. The sixth and last game, was a Strategy Game sadly. There is a PSP Collection, of 4 out of the 6 games, missing the first and sixth one.
Parodius was awesome yes! I loved that game. Some games like that and Turtles in Time for example it was like you felt they would be considered classics 25 years in the future
it's crazy how far we've come in the states as far as gaming goes. we used to have to wait a whole extra year to get games from japan, if we were lucky enough to even get an american port of the game, and now most of the best games we get come from our country. japan still makes the best games ever (demon's/dark souls series), but we americans have come a long way. especially in terms of rpgs
Not necessarily a weird title but how about Firestriker? It has a Pocky and Rocky overview and almost combat system except you only have one weapon, the Trialight, a mystical ball type thing that you essentially control with pinball mechanics even though you have four different characters you can move around on screen to control it (only one at a time unless you're playing two player). Why do I say pinball mechanics? Because you also can't let the Trialight fall off the bottom of the screen. Its actually rather fun to mostly whiz through. Four worlds with three to four levels each that you can choose in a Mario World style way plus the final boss. Only three lives to get through each level but you share lives if you do two player making the boss fights so much harder with two players. Yes, it was released in North America.
I used to watch did you know gaming while falling asleep but that's so ingrained into my memory now I chose this channel to listen to while in bed. Enjoy the monies the views get you, I listen a ton of RU-vid this way.
3:17 The title of this game is pretty bizarre too lol apparently it translates to “the master exorcist with the nice body” 😆 But then I translated “Joreishi Wa” on its own and Google translated it to “Ghost master wow”….lol Can any Japanese speakers confirm or correct me if I’m wrong? Thanks 🙏 But yeah, I owe so much thanks to the Japanese for their innovative contributions to gaming. Their gaming systems and games are responsible for SO MANY fond memories throughout my childhood. Some of the happiest times of my life were only possible because of their products, such as the NES, SNES, and the Sega GENESIS. I think my favorite Christmas ever was the one where my siblings and I all got a Super Nintendo, which I believe came with F Zero, and we also got Super Mario World and Zelda, A Link To The Past. It might have been the year after SNES dropped, or the first year and I’m just confused about when we got certain games for the system. But yeah, there was NOTHING better than getting that SNES. The Genesis was another amazing system we had, but overall I think SNES will always be the MVP in my book. But I digress… I am just so grateful for anyone who played a part in making these systems and games who made these memories possible. What I find extremely impressive, is that many of these games STILL hold up today, 30 some odd years later. Anyway, sorry for the random, sentimental nostalgia trip lol Some of the games in this video are definitely odd lol but some in a good way! Thanks for all that you do SNES Drunk. I know I’m late to the party here but it hasn’t been that long since I discovered your channel, so I’m trying to play catch up and binge through all of your old videos. It’s going to be a sad day when I finish them all and have to join the rest of the peasants, waiting for new videos to drop 😆 jk but it is going to suck. Oh well.. thanks for reminding me of some games from my childhood that I have forgotten. Many of your videos help restore those memories, which come flooding back to me thanks to you. And being someone who suffers with really bad major depressive disorder, living in this fu€ked up world, I could always use some positive feelings which these childhood memories evoke. Okay, I will shut up now. 😂🤟🏻
Well we made Captain Novolin here, a game where you play a superhero with diabete and your enemies are sentient pies, donuts and ice cream cones. We don't exactly have lessons to give to Japanese devs. xD
I played a game modeled after the 1988 presidential election which was hella weird and another where you were a detective or something in a lil village i couldnt figure out the point.
Hey Drunk, I messaged you when I subscribed to your Patreon. Channel is great as always, which has to be hard to do after so many videos. My subscribe request was for one more Chrono Trigger Let's Play, which I know you'll get around to eventually (LPs aren't worth your time in terms of clicks, for sure). New request instead... How about a video of you making the voiceover layers of your channel intro?! One of the best on RU-vid in my opinion; short, simple, catchy, ridiculous and always different. Keep it up SssssSSsnNNeSSDRUNK Well, that's it. I want to thank you for reading this message and I hope you have a great rest of your day
