13-Year-Old Shatters 100m National Record 

I have been coaching close to twenty years. Unfortunately most kids that run this fast this early turn out to be average sprinters. They just mature faster or earlier. They get to much to early

Oh he’s gonna be great. His technique is the reason why. Look at how high he gets his knees up. Very much like Gatlin or Jeter.

That's much better than 99% of kids his age and even me(I'm 15) and kids 2-4(even more) years his age .

The fact that he ran this into a headwind is scary

There is a 13 year old at my school who ran a 11.84 a week ago

im extremely confused and amazed at the same time, recently i had districts (a competition where every school in the borough competes in track and field). I had competed in 4x1 relay and 100m. I came 4th for both (to be fair there was 19 schools so ig i did alright), however the thing i am amazed about is that there was this kid in this school called chadwell heath that ran a sub 12 easily while looking at other people (he ran a 11.3) withou spikes as well. So what im confused about is that just how is that possible.

Training this early is going to get these kids hurt. Knees, ankles, and joints or not properly develop for pounding the pavement at 8, 9, or even 12 years old. It’s not like being on the soccer, travel baseball, or swim team. Running takes a toll on the body and kids in the AAU program are setting themselves up for injury, growth stunt, and long term problems with arthritis/knee/ankle/back problems. Running at such a young age needs to be for fun. Not to mention the pressure these parents are putting on these kids. FloTrack it’s just taking advantage of the races been making money off of the kids that will never make a dime of FloTrack using their images. Do you think all of these kids signed off on the use of their being posted? Doubt it.
