Frost is an elite athlete he is so good. I've seen lots of drummers play crazy fast technical stuff but this guy is way better. Mad style and power with the speed. Innovative drumming as well. It will be a sad day when he will not be able to play like this anymore. More people need to be aware of his skills.
goddamn. frost's drum work never gets old. i think it's safe to say he's the best black metal drummer to ever exist. i enjoy his work even more than Hellhammer, and that's saying a lot
@FallenGrace2905 I talked with him extensively on this he is a freak in regard to his conditioning, diet, Yoga yes Frost does Yoga and most drummers that are serious (pros)do as well this is his craft, love and passion. He is also working on his second degree...ya he's a smart cat to
what a great video of Frost drumming his kits. i talked to Frost on drum tips and everything. he is such a chill dude and gave great tips for me as a drummer. Frost is just one great drummer and underrated. he likes good music with meaning and creedo of black metal.
@sickdrummerdotcom His warm up alone is a meditation in itself, when i toured with him earlier this year he would spend at least 2 or 3 hours gradually warming up in silence with his corpsepaint on...that is how its done!
@dragonboy269123 we have some Raw footage going into the Issue which really shows his power. NO ONE has his power or Endurance not in ANY field of drumming
I think it is a sin that Frost has not recorded his drumming on video from most of his albums. He was more of a beast in the past and it would have been sick to watch it up close and clean from all angles. Most of his best work was lost in the raspy-ness of black metal guitar.
@FREESHADY And just for your info, a lot of extreme metal drummers with perfect finger control and close to optimal stroking technique, can't keep blasts up as long as Frost. That says something about his working spirit, which is always something I can respect.
@sickdrummerdotcom I always thought that, the endurance he has is just unmatchable, it's mind boggling, he must have the patience of a monk to be able to master a technique like that
Just watched Nils play this track. Ridiculous drummer, as Frost is too. Some of the names that have drummed for this band , Tony Laureano included... absolute masters at their craft.
@Nergal945 There will be more videos and Frosts' interview in our November Issue, which will be out in a few days. You need to be a subscriber to access this, as it's not easy to gather and produce all of it. Subscriptions are $6.00 for two months or $10.00 per year... Support!
@sickdrummerdotcom Do you have the entire set posted for subscribers to Sick Drummer? I looked recently and only found Nathicana, Atomic Chapel, Chasing Dragons, and the additional raw footage of Frost.
@FREESHADY "Technical" is quite a multi-interpretable term :) You can also say you need great technique (and practice ofcourse) to keep up blasts for such a long time, and Frost is one of those top blackmetal drummers with an absolutely SICK stamina. Good enough for sickdrummer. Drummers can be sick in a lot of ways, and the last 1 or 2 years, sickdrummer has really lived up to that statement. IT's all good!!!
@1991Saruman well he gave me tips on drumming, tour tips since i am in two bands so he gave me some words of wisdom in his dressing room not only that we were talking bout good music and a whole bouch of stuff.in the end i got greta tips from Frost.from life, drumming, music and whole other things that made my life and possibly life
demonoir is just savagery. strongly recommend the remastered version. this song, whn i was flesh, psalm 7:77... all the songs a re just complete brutality. 3:22 is a prime example. just utter destruction.
Nobody can beat him, he is pure athlete, Bruce Lee on drums. You want to cover his lifework with thick sticks and flying finger? U MAD. He is a true master of hard and soft physique skills like a shaolin monks. If you want to challenge Frost you must be deaf or stupid.
Fucking youtube making me unable to reply to comments but he uses Vic Firth CMN? Damn those are long. I prefer my 2BN, just 0.005" thinner but quite a bit shorter. It's a good balance for me at least.
He used to play with VF CMN for a very long time, on Rebel tour 99 he already had them. About year ago he switched to VF X5BN. Maybe is he switching them constantly, i don't know, but both are very long sticks, very hard to play with them high tempos. Especially those constant brutal blasts.
i get so lost listening to the insane speed and control that frost has in demonoire. he fucking rules. the couple tracks ive heard from the first 1349 album and a few of his Satyricon tracks are nuts too. but i'm making myself deaf with demonoire.
