It can but the effort to lift it up is a lot for most folks. With the wheel down its easy to drive it into the bottom and just lift up into the top locking clamp. A.

@@AlecPeirceAtTheRanch Yes.... after thirty years of neglecting my wheelbarrow it had reached the point of being unuseable, with a shredded tire in particular. So I rebuilt it recently. That was quite a bit of work because of the accumulated neglect and deterioration. Because of that, I've decided that it's important that your wheelbarrow(s) be inspected from time to time and the need for maintenance and repairs identified. I recently reviewed a fleet of six wheelbarrows at a local community garden. Four of the six were fine. One needed maintenance and one needed repairs or an overhaul. Catching those issues early and acting on them can preserve your wheelbarrow or a fleet in good condition to serve your needs rather than have it fade into being useless.

If you store it outside, it doesn't matter which way you store it--upside down, right side up, etc--it's still going to get soaked everywhere.

@@JDeWittDIY I now store my two wheelbarrows outside, under cover. That should eliminate 95% of the problems, I suppose. Actually, I have one in my living room right now! I used it to bring in a load of firewood and parked it near the woodstove. I'm making a point of looking for ways to use my wheelbarrows, and that is proving especially useful for bringing load into the house. So when bringing in groceries, I load up the wheelbarrow, run it up a 2x6" ramp going up the front steps, through the front door and into the kitchen.

@@AlecPeirceAtTheRanch Yes, I neglected my wheelbarrow for decades until it became unuseable and required rebuilding and repair to make it functional again. I have both a steel wheelbarrow I bought new 35 years ago, the one I rebuilt, and a second I bought for a few dollars off Ebay that is plastic. I have been paying mo0re attention to wheelbarrows since then, and the leading cause of them being thrown away is a cracked plastic tray. The one I bought had such a defect. I tried plastic welding the cracks, but that didn't look like it would work for long. So I found a piece of heard plastic that was on hand and cut that to fit the bottom of the tray, and glued and pop riveted it in place. That makes a good quality repair, and adds a lot of strength that wasn't there when the barrow was new. By contrast, the steel barrow needed the rust removed and refinishing, but that was pretty easy and done at no cost, since I used Kilz primer and then exterior housepaint that I had on hand. The rest of the barrow needed more repair after thirty years, and a replacement wheel, but I figure that a steel tray is FAR more durable than one that is plastic. In the video, I notice that the wood supporting the tray and the handles look like they are in excellent condition. Still, it doesn't take long to use a wire brush on a grinder to strip off that rust, and then prime and paint the interior of the tray, which is all that looks like needs to be done. Cement will rust holes in the tray before long, I'd suppose, and especially since the rest of the barrow looks very good, I'd give a little attention to the tray to avoid having that fail. I'm now glad to see how others use and maintain their barrows, now that I've restored two. So I was glad to see this video and see what you do.
