One thing people commonly do is try to make a Xenia island, thinking it’ll contain the spread. What most apparently don’t realize is it can just “bud off” pieces that can float around the tank till it finds a home. Gotta stay vigilant and keep an eye out for pieces and pull out before it can really attach.
Blue throat trigger pair for 145g. Purple tang or any salfin tang. Zebra blenny! Leopard wrasses are fun and fairy wrasses as well. Engineer gobies add movement and are very cool if they swim around all the time.
Oh! Is that nepenthes? Maybe we have similer hobby 😁 I have 30gallon salt tank and a few carnivalous plants And i live in korea and i always enjoying your video !
Glad to hear! I wasn't sure on the amount I should add but someone recommended at least 6, so I went with that. So far I could see at least two aiptasias disappeared... can't wait for them to goto town!
Inappropriate Reefer i bought 12 for my 180 gallon. They were tiny, like size of grain of rice. I didn’t see them for weeks, but I definitely noticed a few aiptasia in area i released them disappeared. Seems like they only come out at night. I’ve caught a few with a flashlight, they looked about 1/2 inch now so definitely growing. I just hope i see dozens one night so I’ll know they are reproducing.
Great video as usual , chromis kill each other off slowly even in a big school, gotta love the mandarin , or red scooter blenny, Midas blenny and the Bangai cardinal
I bought the same nudibranchs twice once for one tank one from another tank they work very well no aptasia at all now if they just take care of the majano😜
Hi, what type of fish feeder did you say you were getting? Seems like it has cool features, have not heard about one that does that. Can you let me know the name of it? Thanks!
Certainly, it's the Avast "The Plank"; it was released very recently so not too much is out on it yet. I should be receiving my order this coming week!
Love your vids. I’m learning a lot. I’m saving up to get into the hobby. I had fresh water aquariums 30 years ago, but now after watching your vids, I think I can try a reef aquarium.
Wouldn't have a tank without a blenny of some sort. At present we have a Starry Blenny (Salarias ramosus). Not "colourful" but a real character in the tank. Really like our Foxface and Powder Brown Tang (Acanthurus japonicus) which both grow to maximum size of around 8/9 inches. Saying that, something I would pay attention to if I was starting to look at stocking again, what fish are available which are captive bred?
Perfect aiptasia killer/eater? C.kleinii, but those guys go after lps after aips are done...you could be lucky if you feed him/her/them properly with algea...thats one of the reasons why C.kleinii looooves aips...i got a baby and he grew up with small clowns...thought he is a clown got fed with algea never touched other lps...but after a horrible crash years ago, i lost him/her....sadly ✌ those lil snails never did a good job for me 🙈
As goofy as it sounds, I've always thought a tank with tons of small fish would be rad, like Azure Damsels or even Yellow Tail Damsels. They're the smaller and less aggressive ones generally and are pretty cheap at ~$5-10 per. In a 140 you could probably do 15 or so.
Does the room temperature matter when fragging the xenia? My room is 67 degrees and my reef is 75-77 all the time would that 10 degree temperature drop cause stress? And do you coral dip them with strengthening dips?
I found if you hold the xenia with tongs as HARD AS YOU CAN and just rip it off you can pull it all off without it’s left over cells. Worked like a dream for me. Cleared so much xenia from my tank without it ever coming back except for the one rock that I keep it on.
Love your channel as I commented before. Have an idea for your 145g , how about 2 possum wrasse, peaceful beautiful little guys. I love them, mine are awesome 👌. Need updates on your clams, just got 3 1/2 inch squamosa clam, so far so good.
I got 3 Berghia Nudibranch for my 40g reef from salty underground a while back, they cleaned up my HEAVILY infested tank of aiptasia in about 2 1/2 weeks
Lipstick tangs r nice looking fish, orange shoulder tang, mandarin goby, purple tangs all great fish. And u should put some beautiful feather dusters in your tanks.
Every time when im laying in bed trying to sleep, if i see you’ve uploaded a new vid i get so happy LOL. I forgot today was sunday and was not expecting a vid
As far as a fish selection I seen what looked like a golden head sleeper goby yesterday but it has a red body. I can not remember the name. Anyone remember the name? Figured it out the Bella Goby good looking fish and helpful
Bella Goby! I was THIS CLOSE to getting a pair a few weeks ago 😅 Ultimately thought they may look a little big in my tank (want to keep smaller fish for scale). They are absolutely gorgeous like you said though... and my mind may still change!
Cry havoc at let slip the Berghia of War....so glad you finally got them as i always say they are the only solution that offers complete eradication all others just control at best, and things like the Majano Wands and products like Aiptasia X ultimately just increase their numbers by forcing them into spawning mode Some Berghia Nudibranch breeders even use the Wands and Aiptasia X etc. deliberately as a way to annoy the Aiptasia into spawning to force increase their numbers in their farm
@@InappropriateReefer yep 😎 in the past when chatting with a couple of the breeders here in the uk, one used a wand to sting them and the other dribbled drops of Aiptasis X randomly to make them spawn as well as desperately scouring the uk for Aiptasia to purchase to feed their Nudi's...now that's irony
Evensi anthias or lyretail anthias personally i think a big school off banggai look amazing and there breeding behaviour is kl to watch or you could mix both
My god it was so beautiful in the tank and when you took it out I wanted to throw up lmao I only have a freshwater tank and you're the only saltwater guy I sub to and just found ya recently so I didn't know it would look so different out of the tank that's nuts
I thought the thumbnail was just a well cropped picture of Johnny Depp playing Edward scissor hands. On closer inspection you’ve actually photoshop yourself hahaha
I bought 25 in a pretty infested tank. They took out most of them, but not all of them, and they can’t eat what is still developing. So, they ate most of them, and several weeks later, the aiptasia are back. Because of this I’ve made another order of 25 and hopefully they will take them out. Long term I think these are not a solution but to devastate aiptasia populations. They just cost too much! Don’t get me wrong, I had dozens and they did do a good job.
I am worried about something like this. If the nudibranchs colony collapsed due to lack of food and they missed a few Aiptasias, it would start the cycle all over again. This is also one reason why I figure I may as well try to maintain a colony of these nudibranches in the Mangrove tank as well if that means having to find Aiptasias locally to feed them, figure they could always keep the Aiptasias in balance and there seems to be a need for these fellas locally as well. First thing first though, let's see if these initial 6 makes it...!
I just recently bought a sunrise dottyback for my aquarium and although a lot of the the forums online say they can be territorial mine is the opposite and will even share its cave when the lights are on “thunderstorm” mode. They have a lot of personality and are amazing to watch. Mine has even dig a tunnel under the rock structure and out the other side using it all day.
I'm thinking about a type of rabbit fish to control the bubble algae, thinking the Scribbled, wondering if you may have experience? Also seriously considering the Lyretail Anthias (African, I think that's the more orange ones right?), thus the new autofeeder! 😝 Gem Tang... if that RU-vid money ever kicks in, then maybeeeeeee
Inappropriate Reefer Inappropriate Reefer I have never personally owned them since I still have a nano. I think i saw a scribbled or magificent rabbit fish in my LFS today actually lol. when it comes to lyretails, the neon orange ones are the females, the most dominant of the group (hence getting 3 or more and having a odd number) turns male and has a red and purple coloration along with small streamers. they are very beautiful. another incredible species are sunburst anthias
Thank you for donating to raffle! It went to a great cause (food bank)! Also, I thought you called me a Mongol at first .... had to have a friend explain it to me LOL.
Great choice - thank you for putting the raffles together, you are helping the more fortunates to give back in some ways! Mogul! Sorry for my terrible pronunciation... 😂
Bro with are you doing with nudi for aptasia ...lmfao....get a damn peppermint shrimp and it'll be gone over a weekend ...they're like 15$ ...you only need one....it'll likely starve eventually
