I used to write Dutch subtitles and I tried to refrain from doing that too much, unless it was really necessary. In many cases of wordjokes, I'd find a Dutch equivalent and make it into a similar, but new joke. It's nice that RU-vidsubtitles, (back when RU-vid hadn't removed the function for profits yet) give every translator the room to translate in their own way and style. More freedom in comparison to an "actual" translator job.

The Betty Ford Clinic pub in Toronto had to rename themselves Betty's after receiving a cease-and-desist from the actual clinic. It's nailed to the wall.

There's a Betty Ford bar in Berlin that my friend actually bought the rights to the German title quite quickly so the actual clinic couldn't challenge them legally.

I am from Newfoundland. I confess, I have posted on many videos admonishing people on their mispronunciation of our name. Lol. It's simple, really. Newfoundland, understand. They rhyme and the rhythm matches.

It's happened on every wedding I've been to in Sweden (which isn't many to be fair, but still). Everyone starts klinking their drinking glasses to alert people that one of the newlyweds has left the room.

To keep a herd of ungulates together, the alpha male must be retained and all ensuing males sacrificed; a very sad thing, and I believe the ritual of offering the animals to God was a way of apologizing for the crime, since they were babies and we are after all a very empathetic species for the most part.
