I really respect what you do. It is not as as easy as it looks. You are a very charismatic, intelligent and articulate man. I am surprised nobody has hired you to do a travel or food show for cable or TV.
Mike you have a great personality and are truly a natural in front of the camera making your videos so enjoyable! I also love this Taiwan series and am super jealous!
Hi Mike. As usual, another delicious video on street food. please can you mention the cost of what you tried as well. Would be useful when budgeting for spending allowance. Thanks and stay healthy!
Mike, you have that kind of face that just becomes happier and more pleasant the more you eat delicious food. For me, food was only half of this video; the other half was definitely watching your face just beam more and more with every bite. Made me feel so warm and fuzzy!
Having lived in Taiwan for two years, as well as living in Japan and being all over the world, I think Taiwan has got the overall best food on the planet, as well as the friendliest people.
Everybody's claiming that Paris (and France in-general) is the culinary "mecca" of our planet Earth. From what I've seen by your channel (+Other awesome food channels like Simon & Martina) It's pretty much a tie between Taipei, Osaka and Tokyo. Maybe Paris has some good pastries and was the originator of the fine-dining experience (and the literally the word "Gourmet" is from French) but as it seems Taipei, Osaka and Tokyo seem like they just NAILED IT with culinary mastery while using simple, local ingredients without any fuss or unnecessary gimmicks. I mean... Japan seriously has restaurants awarded 1-3 Michelin Stars for perfecting /noodles, rice with fish on top, sticks of fried seafood!/ I mean there's not anything wrong with a very complex and luxurious dining experience but it really tells about mastery and just perfecting the art of your trade when you serve a piece of fish that's not even cooked on-top of perfectly made vinegar-ed rice and it's on-par or ever better than chefs preparing meals with 15-20 ingredients from all around the world taking weeks in-advance to prepare and cost hundreds of dollars worth of ingredients.
I love how you show us so many different items! I will never be able to make it there but through your videos it is so awesome to get to see what its like there.
Wow everything definitely looked delicious! I love your videos Mike. You are a natural in front of the camera ♡ You should have your own show just traveling around Asia tasting different foods and telling the world about them!
As Taiwanese I gotta say There’re a ton of amazing food around waiting for being discovered in night market in Taiwan. Even each and every night market has its own most famous stall of food. Can never get enough of them ❤️❤️❤️
good collection of night markets. I can verify the Rohe night market pepper buns are out of this world. OK I need a return visit pronto. I'm drooling here.
I went to Taiwan a few years back with my family and that sweet potato puff was our favorite. I think we ended up getting a few servings at different places! My other favorite was the Taiwanese sausage stuffed with cilantro. That was super delicious. Gees, watching you vids made me want to go back to Taiwan just for the night markets xD. Thanks for sharing the different kinds of foods. I'm drooling on the deep fried milk that you shared in your previous vlog that I googled how to make it at home ^^. Keep sharing!
As for horse meat judging from what happened in Europe maybe you already tried like most Europeans. Kidding aside Asians don't eat horse meat, mostly because it doesn't taste that good, but donkey meat is considered delicious and available in some parts of Asia.
The little sausage in the big sausage is one of my absolute favorite night market snacks! ^___^ So glad you got a good taste of Taiwanese night markets.
+Tony C Aaah, I can´t go an other time. I live in The Netherlands so ticket to Taiwan is really expensive, during school I sometimes have a week off, so that´s too short. Only during the summer I have a two month vacation :( And I survived 5 weeks Hong Kong, so I think I will be okay ^^
Hey Mike ... I've been a long time subscriber to both your and Mark Wiens websites ... aside from the fact that you are both chili pepper/oil heads, and video dabblers .... I give you the nod. I love Asian food, and the service that you (and all your Asian friends) are giving us Westerners. Bud Miller (first bass player, and older brother of Steve Miller, of the Steve Miller Band.).
both mike and mark are unreliable when it comes to if a dish tastes good or not. those 2 act like everything they eat is amazingly delicious. but in reality, its not.
Aloha e Mike. Some friends here from Hawaii who are visiting Taipei. Just needed to send you a mahalo for this video. We watched a few of your vids this afternoon before we went out to the Taoyuan Night Market. My husband saw the sweet potato "corn pops" you mentioned and he was determined to find some. Well we did and he went back to buy another bag and killed it by himself. I also saw your video on the Chinese medicine pork ribs- my mother used to make those for me when I was little and I had forgotten them. Well You reminded me of them and I was looking for them and found some. It was so good and a bit emotional remembering Mom. Mahalo Mike for your work- it's been helpful and if you're ever back in Hawaii let us know- we got more awesome places to take you to/tell you about ( like Alicia's Market). Hugs & aloha
dude I can watch you all day with dumplings. thank you for the knowledge .I am a up coming chef and I bin cooking for years and there is still so much to learn. thank you
I'm so HUNGRY now! My stomach just screeched at me for watching all this delicious food. I need that unassuming sesame bun filled with meat and green onion, like right now and for S & G's the salted yolk doughnut too. Thank you Mickey, I love your videos!
I hate you for showing me those yummy food that I can't find here in the U.S, but I also love you for showing me where to find it if I'm visiting Taipei in the future.
hi Mike! I really love your videos... and your appetite ;-) one question ... would you please please do a special on Chinese sausages? I love sausages ... and I have tried only once here, in Berlin, a homemade Chinese sausage. it was sooo yummy but I have never ever tried these in the Asian supermarkets ... haven't dared yet. all the very best from Berlin and the wurstologie! ;-)))
+Xian WANG thanks! I can see some in the Asian supermarket, but they come in 1 kilo packs... that is a lot for one person and to try ... but I think that was just one or two kinds... do you have an idea, where I can get some more infos ... in English?
Dude!!! You have the best food videos ever!!! The fact that I'll never be able to taste these foods breaks my heart. Need to buy more lottery tickets. Keep them coming and I'll just make another peanut butter and jam sandwich to eat while I'm watching.
Mike, i've been binge watching loads of your videos over the last few days. Just discovered hot pot and found a spot in the UK that does it. You've opened up a whole new world of food to me. Thank you!!! However you've also made my food regret from my trip to NYC a few years back 100x worse!
+Strictly Dumpling yh I plan to sometime next year. On my last trip I targeted the food trucks and cafés. Going to need a full month in NYC if I want to hit everything right. Lots of planning is required.
The sausage sounds AMAZING. I gotta go to Taiwan, now! Oh, my former boss, who spent time in Taiwan with family while growing up (his mum is Taiwanese) said that Taiwanese 7-11 is not only way better than its American counterpart, it had a kind of apple milk that he never could find here in the US--are you familiar with any such, Mike?
and I love the oyster pancake with the delicious sauce ÷)

Glad that you're having fun and tasting all kinds of yummy food. Your viewers love your content and you as a person, please show case more food from all round, we will definitely support you! :)
man that hot dog would blow up in popularity if people found out about it here in the US similar to how popular asian style tacos and burritos have been.
mike, i have been watching you eat for a few years now and it leaves me hungry.. haha! i just booked my ticket to HK today, can't wait to try the bao zai fan places you went to! keep eating mike! you are awesome!!
