In this episode I make my first scale scenes kit on the model railway to build retaining walls for the railway incline behind the industrial area. This required some kit bashing to make it fit my 3% incline. Took a lot of work but I got their in the end.

Kit bashing 101 mate but what a brilliant result. Its tough maintaining enthusiasm and focus but when you get to the end and have a result like this it all makes it worthwhile! Brilliant stuff...

Thanks Mike, I think I prefer making scenery and even ballasting over making buildings and walls but needs must and I am pleased with it now. Thanks for watching.

Looking sweet Mark you certainly don't get results overnight , I'm learning that .

Thanks and sooo true. Can be frustrating at times but don’t want to finish it too quick as modeling is as much fun as actually running the trains

Wow looking good! I’m cheating for my current « vintage style » Hornby Dublo 3-rail layout. I’ve taken their cue and am building my retaining walls in the same style as the Dublo « concrete » buildings. So no brick detail to worry about and I managed to find a Dulux aerosol which is pretty much an exact colour match to their 1930’s style station buildings and signal box. I’ll see how it turns out tonight. If I can live with the 3-rail track I just can’t abide the horrendous standard 15’’ curves on the return loops I have at each end of my « double track » mainline. So their primary purpose is to hide those!

Thanks, I tried to make it as long and straight as possible, some of my older Lima locos still struggle to pull a full train up the incline but the DCC ones find it easy.

Hi. Just found your channel. Nice work on the walls, I think you did a great job of blending the two designs together and adding the wall along the backscene really competes the scene. Cheers, John.

Thanks John, it was quite a bit of work but think it was worth it in the end. Thanks for watching. Mark

Well done mate what a mammoth task! I think the end result looks great and the difference in the print colour actually makes it look even better.

Its obviously a time consuming build doing it that way, but at least you do not have to do any weathering, or very little as it looks really good and authentic, you took your time and its come out great, well done, look forward to the next video, colin.

Thanks Colin, yes that is one of the advantages of the printed paper it already weathered and you can chose from a range of finishes. It was a long slog but that memory has faded, so I am pleased with it now. Thanks for watching. Mark

Congratulations on achieving an excellent result something to be proud of. A nice piece of railway architecture for your layout. I'm hoping will be uploading my first video it wont be as well recorded as yours and your honest about learning how to on RU-vid made me smile as that's what's holding me back so well done. I've only got 53 subscribers so hopefully more will follow.

Thanks Dinmore Junction. Most people have something they don’t like doing on their railway and mind is definitely paper modeling but I got their in the end. Good luck with your channel. I found once I started posted regular video the number of subs started to grow quite quickly. It’s all a steep learning curve but that it part of the fun. It took me 10 episodes before I dared to show my face 😂 Good luck with your channel and railway. Mark

@@chappelstation Morning Mark. Thanks for your confidence boost comments. I have changed my settings for your channel to notifications ALL so I wont miss out. There are similar elements I've seen on your layout that I had when I first started and it's surprising how the railway grows. My layout is no way complete which I like as it keeps my interest. I'm currently painting 50 "Finescale Figures" and waiting delivery of a 3d scan of myself from ModelU in Bristol so I can be on my own layout.

@@dinmorejunctionmodelrailway Thanks, it’s also a confidence boost for me when people watch and comment on y video. Hand painting 50 figures sounds like hard work. Not sure I have the eyesight or a steady enough hand for that! I like the idea of having a model of yourself on your railway, great fun. Did you have to visit ModelU in person for that?

@@chappelstation Hi Mark. ModelU only work week days so I spoke to Alan and he said he would be prepared to arrange a Saturday so both my mate and I visited the company in Bristol which also gave us a day out in the city. £40 per scan plus £4.50 for each OO gauge figure if you wanted them painted that's another £10 each figure. From that scan it is possible for Alan to then to take your head from your avatar and put it onto a locomotive driver or fireman or any figure you want £7.50 plus £4.50 for the 3d print. If you want cheaper figures buy from "Finescale Figures" but only ModelU will scan you and 3d print you. Richard Watson of New Junction who now wirks for Hornby Magazine has his own 3d print of himself appearing on many different layouts as he visits different layouts.
