Thanks Lindsay. That print you made on the gelli plate was so super beautiful I thought it belonged on a textile or shower curtain or something . Scarves, t-shirt, leggings. Well maybe not leggings, but you know what I mean? Absolutely gorgeous! Fabulous cards too. Bright and cheery. I couldn't tear myself away from the tutorial. I needed some bright and cheery in this dismal gray winter we are having. Thanks again. 👍😁💜💜💜

I've been doing backgrounds that look like yours but putting liquid watercolor into misting bottles, spritzing the color(s) of choice on the card bases, setting them out to dry, then spritzing with gold, silver, or pearl, and letting that dry. Another thing I did was all of the aforementioned, but on a separate piece of cardstock, then take card-sized dies and cutting, say, a bunch of butterflies. I'd get 2 cards for the effort because every one of those butterflies ended up getting glued onto another card base. A third thing was to do all the aforementioned but use smaller dies or any of my various paper punches and make a bunch of embellishments to have on hand for whenever. Colored cardstock can be spritzed when you don't want blending of colors.

I haven't actually watched to the end yet. When I do my gel printing I tend to do three prints from one run and end up with a stack of prints. I usually use card rather than paper. Your single print was beautiful. You previously suggested pastels for printing and I failed on my first try. I will have another go. Not sure if I can risk letting the paper dry on the print before the pull though. Loved the process. Great results. Rebecca x

Lindsay you outdid yourself on this one! These cards are fabulous and I am going to give them a try for sure. There are so many variations you could do with the postage stamps in an art journal, as a larger card front or a stand alone peice of art. You are amazing and I could hear in your voice you were having so much fun doing them. 😁

It's been awhile since I bought a geli plate, maybe 18 months, never have used it yet. Didn't remember how to use it, really, but I have to do it outside, no space in doors. I will save your video for refresher when I try it sometime in May or June. The sprays same thing, outdoors so I never use them either. Also mica powders & dry pigments (outside). Fun to watch your 45 minute video, that I'm certain took you all day to do & more than 45 minutes to clean up. Thanks Lindsey. Keep bringing out the old & forgotten for new uses, as I have many products that the shelf life is going & need inspiration to use up.
@thefrugalcrafter
@thefrugalcrafter 4 года назад
I wonder if you could use those products inside by placing the gel plate on a cookie sheet and spraying in a cardboard box?
@denaheck1506
@denaheck1506 4 года назад
Yes, I do have a huge boot shoe box I use for sprays, but I just found inspite of my " carefulness" there is not a safe area in the house to contain powders & sprays, don't know how but I manage to find pigment or overspray on a chair or table top. You never mentioned why you didn't end up liking sprays. I find them pretty thru stencils & fun on background. But I'm not sure I want a product that its only use is to create a background. I have a lot of " failed watercolor " practice paintings I can repurpose for backgrounds & to die cute.

These are beautiful! I love how you approach art! Ur gel plate piece is gorgeous!💗💜💚💛💙🧡 I just wanted to mention, I saw how people were buying small ball bearings from amazon to add to their Dr Ph Martin paints/iridescence. Some say having a small ball bearing ball in the paint helps shake up and get the pigments stuck at the bottom of the bottle to move around and mix into the paint. I just bought a set on Amazon for fairly cheap and put them in all of my Dr Ph Martins paints. I can let you know how it works out. When I was shaking all of them with the ball bearing in it, it sounds just like the Tim Holtz distress spray inks. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for being such an inspiration to so many of us! I can’t tell you how many times you’ve made me laugh or put a smile on my face! Your personality and who you are totally rock! Liz🍻, Cape Cod Mass.😊💗👍🏼

Those cards are so nice! Loved the little stamps. I have a super old paper cutter that has interchangeable blades and one of them is a "stamp edge." I made a bunch of stamps with my Christmas Peg Stamps and used them on my envelope back flaps. Never have purchased any of the distress sprays. Too spendy for me, but there are other ways to add color to backgrounds, so I might give these a try. Thanks for sharing this neat and novel idea!

I think your cards turned out really well. I can't help thinking you missed out on the best part of those crazy oxide sprays by not activating the oxide with a spray or droplets of water. Not a criticism, just a reminder that the best part of the oxide sprays is the oxide. The cool mica splatters did go a long way, but now I'm going to have to try the oxides with water AND mica splatters because I'm dying to see how that would look. 😉 loved the gel print with the embossed stamp over it.
